Jordi Alba

Rejected us and moved to Barcelona. Then rejected again when he moved to Arsenal.
Don't think we went in for him after Barca? We signed Di Maria instead. Liverpool and Arsenal were the ones after him.

If I remember right he wanted to move to a london club?

I would not be surprised to see him move to Chelsea. Especially if Madrid get Hazard.

Did we try to sign him? Pretty sure it was just Liverpool and Arsenal after him

There were some rumours suggesting so, but Pool and Arsenal were the main clubs he was linked with. Doubt we were interested. Just journos wanting clicks probably.

He is (alongside Sandro and Alaba) the best left-back in the world. I don't want us to sell him and he won't go. Once Lucho is gone, we will go back to a more normal formation and Jordi will get regular game time again.

Why would you put Jordi "the Flop" Alba before the likes of Marcelo and Felipe Luiz?

We were linked and he sad he wanted UCL football

Because he can both attack and defend.

Alba is far better than Marcelo at defending, and Marcelo is only marginally better at attacking.

Filipe Luis is a titan defensively, but pretty limited going forward and would not work for a team like Barca.

Oh come on. Marcelo is practically a winger with how well he attacks.

Not biased at all I see. Marcelo and Felipe Luis are better both in offensive and defensive part of the game.

Barcelona's rarely ever needs to defend due to their ball hogging philosophy and when they were defending, Alba was cr**.

Just go and watch some Atletico games, Luis has enormous impact on their offense.

Alba as it stands probably isn't even in the top 5 LB in the world.

He can cross a ball well, but that's easier when you have massive targets to aim at (Benzema, Ronaldo, Bale).

Alba scored the 2-0 against Italy in the Euro Cup final, for instance. He is clearly very competent at attacking.

Also, Marcelo leaves a lot more gaps defensively.

Defensively I'd say Alba/Marcelo are both a bit shit but offensively Marcelo is much more creative. Filipe Luis is like in the middle, worse offensively but better defensively.

Not a chance Marcelo is better than Alba defensively. Every opponent Real face always target his side because he is so susceptible to counter-attacks, and he's significantly slower than Alba too. So is Luis.

You'd never see Marcelo do this. He is too slow and too lazy.

Look, you're a barca fan and you probably don't even watch Madrid games so I'll let this one slide. But seriously don't let someone hear you about all that Alba is better than Marcelo and Luis.

I'm just gonna jump right in this argument. Marcelo (when not injured) is the best LB in the world. Good defensively, huge work rate and better than a lot of professional wingers in attack.

One of the few players who I do not want despite being a good player.

Genuine cnut this guy is.

Marcelo is the best attacking LB in the world. Filipe Luis, Alaba, Alba and Alex Sandro are all more or less on a similar level and close behind

Filipe Luis is the best defensive LB in the world. Alaba, Alex Sandro and Alba are not far behind in that, while Marcelo is a few levels below

All in all, i'd say Filipe Luis, Alex Sandro and Alaba are the three best two-way LBs, with Jordi Alba close behind

Marcelo and Alaba are the two best football players who play LB

Yeah plus he has the defensive misfortune of playing on the same side with Ronaldo who literally never helps out with tracking back and doing any defensive work.
