Linked today in The Sun. I think Custis has a bit more insider knowledge on United than he gets credit for

I love the job Wanyama does for Spurs. Sits there in DM. No thrills but he reliably does the job and is key to their defensive record. So I like that Mourinho is looking for a similar player.

But Mikel personally is crap.

Anyway, thoughts?

Just like De jong and a few others who played under LVG were linked to us so will loads of others Jose managed.

Doubt there is any truth in it.

Didn't Mikel join us and then blurb he wanted to join chelsea, if so on that basis i don't want and also i can't see him offering much than someone like Schnerderlin.

That ship sailed a decade ago. Feck him.

Yeah, makes sense. Let's sign the guy who basically retired from football 5 or 6 years ago.

He's utter wank. He is a terrible player altogether with no ability on the ball whatsoever.

Even if it happened you know he'll be on 200k a week right? because that's how we operate now.

Stranger things have happened and wouldn't be all that surprising if we signed him on loan until the end of the season. I'd be disappointed if we bought him but a loan deal makes sense especially as I can see Schneiderlin leaving the club in January on loan.

Not sure why we would be in for him when we have Sneiderlin rotting away on the bench. Unless Jose has decided that he simply doesn't have the fight/mentality he wants from his players. Admittedly i've never actually really watched Mikel because I've always thought of him as a very limited water carrier with the turning circle of a small moon.

That bit about him being fraustrated about having to ask the Glazers is hilarious.

Four targets and he got the first choice in each with little fuss and large fees. Why do these journos exist?

I think he is better than Morgan But I still dont think this would be a good idea
If we signed him, that's who he would replace - Jose only used Obi late in games to close them out when ahead - he's tried the same with Morgan this season but its backfired and we've ended up conceding

Mikel is out of contract next summer.

Didn't Mikel criticise Jose after Jose left and Hiddink took over?

It sounds like he has no intention of signing one either and if Conte can bring in a replacement they'll probably be happy to get him off the wage bill.

He's actually fantastic with the ball at his feet in terms of holding on to it and passing it short. Nearly impossible to get the ball off him it seems much like Dembele at Spurs. It's when he has to look forward for a creative pass that he's poor.

There's a reason he was Mou's go to "closer" when he was here and was even preferred to Matic when he was out of form and did a decent job. Easy to imagine why he'd want him as a free transfer.

If we end up with Fellaini and Mikel in midfield I will give up on football

but it's almost certainly bollocks.. how has he survived at Chelsea for a decade is anyone's guess

A player who didn't get anywhere near as good as he was hyped up to be, pretty much started crying and throwing a tantrum to force his move away from us when he signed by mistake, wasn't even Mourinho's favoured players, who will probably want a wage increase, sounds like a perfect deal.

The highlighted bit in the twitter post could easily be about Fabregas

Mikel was pigeonholed into a holding role that didn't utilise his talent. A bit like Anderson being converted into a midfielder instead of a a flair player with running power.

He can feck right off, the money-grabbing, kidnap-faking git. I'd rather sign Joey Barton.*

*The above comment re: Joey Barton was made tongue-in-cheek. The JOM comment still stands.

Schneiderlin can do exactly that given the chance. He does it better than Wanyama, too, for what it's worth.

Mikel is shite.

Ended up turning out to be one of our most astute deals - £12 million for a player that hadn't played a minute for us

And agreed - the moment he realised he could earn more with Roman's gazillions he threw a Yaya-esque fit and jumped ship. There's something quite snakey and dislikeable about that. Just like Moussa Sissoko and fobbing Everton off on deadline day by switching off his mobile. Glad he's rotting at Spurs as well. Shitehawk.

Bizarre rumour.
