Looked and they only play 7 more games before the season ends in March so seems a bit pointless - especially as I'm not sure he'll be starting their next game. Would have rather loaned him to somewhere where he'd get more gametime if possible.

I do not get the Joel Pereira hype at all.

We've got Dean Henderson doing bits for Sheffield United at the business end of the championship. While Pereira is doing the business at a average team in the Belgium league.

10 games. He was on the bench all the time. Another nonsense loan. I hope we going to sell him permanently.

I never got why Jose rated this guy so much.

He couldn't nail down a place at any of the bang average clubs he was loaned to, meanwhile we've got Dean Henderson doing bits at Sheffield United a the business end of the championship.

Dean always looked like the better prospect to be fair.

He was very good when he was on loan at Belenenses 3 years ago. For some stupid reason we recalled him half way through the season because our 3rd choice goalkeeper got injured. We should have let him stay there for the rest of the season. IIRC Benfica even wanted to buy him to replace Ederson. We countered this by signing him on for 4 years.

He's fallen behind Henderson now and his loans haven't worked out for one reason or another but lets not pretend he was some nobody who we kept around despite having no potential.

We didn't recall him because our third keeper got injured. We recalled him to allow Henderson (or was it Johnstone?) to go on loan, which was the deal from the start.

He hasn't fallen behind Henderson, he was never better than him in the first place.

Whilst Henderson was getting 7 apps in League 2 at the same age Joel was getting similar apps in the Portugese first division. Even before that season at the same age Henderson went into the conference whilst Joel went into League 1 with Rochdale.

It's quite obvious that Joel was at one point seen as the bigger prospect

This is the tale of youth goalkeepers at United. Im not convinced the club will produce a number one from the reserves any time soon. There's always a prospect who looks like he may be destined for bigger things until another young prospect rises to prominence and eclipses him.

Usually by the time they hit 22-23 it becomes apparent they wont even make it as second choice options. Dean Henderson and Kieran O'Hara are looking better than Pereira (all 22 now), Pereira looked better than Sam Johnstone, Sam Johnstone looked better than Ben Amos, Amos was thought to be better than Milinkovic-Savic, Savic was supposed to be better than Zieler, Heaton left without being deposed but he was thought to be better than Luke Steele. Kovar is already looking a great prospect in the ranks.

Considering, How limited the opportunities are for a keeper, I think most of those have done really well. Heaton is now having a decent career in the premier league, Zieler is first choice at stuttgart plus a few of the others are doing well in the championship and will be in the premierleague at some point in their careers.

Right, they've done very well for themselves, just not the required level for a United number one.

Joel never looked better than Johnstone.

Amos was never compared to Milinkovic-Savic either seen as he is 7 years older. Savic was never compared to anyone actually, considering he never actually played for us.

No top team anywhere will produce a keeper from the academy unless they are ridiculously talented.

What's up with him? He's 22 now. We should have a pretty good idea by now whether he will make it at United or not.
