Joe Rodon

indeed - pallister and bruce were a great partnership ... strange to think that lescott got more caps than the two of them combined - guess it shows england had some good options at the back at the time

He’d need to be a lot better than Pallister or Bruce to play for this United I think. Was a different era.

Aye they were excellent, a solid foundation to build on. As you say, just shows you the strength in depth England had at the time.

Lost his hunger for the game since he got the big money deal from Spotify. Pass.

I’ve already gone off about him in this thread, but I do think he’d be a decent acquisition (as a value purchase).

I said if you could only have one of James or Rodon, it should be the latter. I love James and he talented (also done better than I thought he would at United) but I’m not really sure if his skill set is suited to a team like Manchester United (Atm). He’s electric but a lot more limited when space is hard to find. It’s tricky playing for a team like Man Utd because a lot of the teams are going to sit back and give no room. James is obviously going to improve on his ability on tighter spaces, but he shows more when a team gives him that room to run into and can be really devastating. He’s a great squad option and a valuable player to have for tactical reasons though.

Rodon is designed for a big club. He’s had very little experience, and his form has dipped up and down, but he’s a valuable CB. He’s very comfortable on the ball (can look a little awkward at times with his height) and he’s a good passer. What makes him valuable in my eyes is that he’s very good at bringing the ball out and avoiding that high press. He’s strong and is pretty good at shrugging off players and putting the ball into the midfield. Add in that he’s good in the air and you’ve got an interesting prospect. He’s 22 but he’s barely played a full season of football, like James it’s about the hope that they can round off their attributes and take a step up.

There’s a fair few CB’s in the championship who are better than Rodon, and a couple who offer what he does while having more experience and better form so going for him is a gamble. I’d stake my money though

I've never seen him play but what do people think his price will be?

And it also seems like Simon Peach is just speculating rather than giving actual information regarding a potential transfer.

united trying to get the next player they see with the Maguire type profile possibly? If he has some pace and physicality and he’s decent on the ball then there’s a lot to work with. Given that he probably wouldn’t be a regular starter here I’d have to question whether moving here would be the right move for him. At this age he should be somewhere starting nearly every game.

We’re heavily linked with him again. Said to be our main CB target. I haven’t seen him play so can’t comment on that, but I’ve noticed for the last 2 seasons out of a possible 46 games he’s played 27 & 21, so he seems to miss a fair few games. Considering our horrible luck with injury prone & unreliable CBs I’m not sure someone who missed half of the games for 2 straight seasons is the best for us right now. Unless he’s missing games because he’s not a nailed on starter? In which case why are we even looking at him?

Anyone who has seen him play, what type of defender is this guy ?

Where’d you get this from?

Apparently this guy is an injury prone, better avoid him. After researching, Swansea fans believe his injury record is an issue to get decent fees to sell him to fix their financial issue. When you look at it again, Championship regular players should be playing 30+ league games while he only played 20+ league games per season which I guess reflecting to him being injured. Tuanzebe had 25 league games last season.

From Paul Hirst Simon Peach apparently, him and Pau Torres are on our radar for the CB position.
My biggest concern about him is his injury record. Otherwise I think he ll adapt more easily to PL than Pau Torres.
Mind you, Rodon would not be Maguire's partner but rather a backup option as a LCB.

Pau Torres is left footed and can bring the ball out of defence. Taller than Lindelöf but I do not know if he is faster.

From what I read about him he s pretty fast - one of the fastest in Spain.
He s also tall 6ft3 but loses lots of headers. That s my concern...I expect his heading stats to go further down in epl.

Don't know anything about him but Swansea fans think he can make it in the Pl and in YouTube he looks like someone that can spend his entire time dedicated to covering for our 80m captain's weaknesses
