Joe Hart - The unwanted man

I'd say being a bit crap is the bigger issue. He was clearly one of west hams biggest issues last season
As in, that’s the reason why he hasn’t gotten a permanent move away from City since Pep arrived in 2016. He was abysmal for West Ham last season though, agreed.

If he can't get a club because of his wage demands, then that's all on him and he shouldn't get any sympathy. But if it's because City want a certain fee for him for a player they absolutely do not want, you'd think it would best serve everyone to just terminate the contract and let him sign on for free somewhere. His decline has been quite extreme, but he's still got enough about him to make something of this stage of his career.

Going from winning titles to being shipped out on loan at aged 30 will be a massive kick in the confidence. He could still be a good player if he can get a move and make a fresh start.

He is a Championship goalkeeper, a championship club that has no aspirations to make it to the premier league.

The only teams in the league he might start for at this point are probably Fulham and Cardiff.

He would've been a perfect West Ham signing if only he hadn't failed there before

He was a genuinely good goalkeeper a few years ago and I've seen him have incredible games for City. One game they had against Dortmund sticks out where he must have made about 6 or 7 brilliant saves to rescue them a point.

But even at his best he was prone to errors and as time has gone on those errors have happened more and more. His confidence is now totally shot, he's had two or three really poor seasons in a row alongside a disastrous Euro 2016. Tough to see many premier league clubs wanting him especially at the wages he'll want.

Can't say I'm upset at his decline though, never liked him. Right cocky bastard who used to love taunting the Utd fans if City scored against us. He can feck off to the Championship or Scotland or wherever.

He was once a decent keeper. When his confidence was up he was a solid top 4 keeper, i dont know why some people are saying otherwise. He's got 2 titles and 4 Golden Gloves ffs, that doesn't come by fluke.

He seemed to get too big for his boots, maybe got a bit complacent, and then mentally couldn't deal with the fallout from Pep dropping him.

Joe Hart is a League One standard GK who due to being young, English, likeable (to an extent) and playing in a very good side at just the right time managed to carve out a career way beyond his actual level of ability

This is not just my opinion, the stats back this up and show that Hart makes fewer saves and more mistakes than other PL goalkeepers

What about his great displays in the CL?

He was a pretty good if overhyped keeper from 2010-14 ish. Had a good World cup and then felt he dipped at club level.

First six months he was pretty good at Torino and then his form completely collapsed. West Ham he just looked like a poor keeper who had the odd good game.

Think the problem with Hart now is you just never expect him to keep a clean sheet nowadays, can't seem to organise a defence anymore.

Plenty doing him a disservice. He isn't top brass but more than capable to start for a midtable side.

He's had great games in the past, notable champions league games where he'd saved city but his fall his quite drastic.

My favourite joe hart moment is him smugly chewing his gum open mouthed waiting for Bale to take his free kick, then letting it in from about 40 yards for all of Europe to see. Great times.

If he wasn't so ego driven he'd drop down and join a club in the championship with room for improvement, like Leeds or such
Or maybe go to Rangers in Scotland & join the project Gerrard is trying to build
He'll probably end up as Chelsea's reserve keeper

Absolute rubbish, he's dreadful now and I can't stand the bloke but he was an excellent keeper and not far from DDG at his best. He had a short lived peak but he was in no way a "league one standard keeper".

He was genuinely class back around the time when City won their first title and was clearly a very good GK. Even if it did lead to him being overrated. Had more errors in him than you'd want from a top level keeper but had some superb games.

He was better than DDG back in 11/12. DDG got a harder time than was warranted from the press in light of being VDS's replacement and was nowhere near as bad as he was made out to be, but at the same time he did have some noticeable weaknesses in his game and Hart was at his best for City. DDG probably surpassed him in 12/13 and since then the two have been on the exact opposite trajectories.

Yeah couldn't agree more, DDG's talent was very obvious to us United fans because we got to see him consistently and it wasn't till about a season and a half later that the media began to take notice, even to this day I think he was actually very good that season barring a few high-profile mistakes. I still think for about half of 12/13 Hart was the better keeper but around January/February DDG really started to shine.

Career has never been the same since Pirlo ended him.

I'd imagine those links, like the Chelsea ones this year, are entirely the work of his agent trying to make him seem relevant still.
Could be the case. Although the link was from Castles (who at least historically had close ties to Mourinho's side).
They've signed Barkley and Drinkwater though. Who is their second keeper? Caballero?
True, but with Sarri in charge I reckon Roman will back him at least for his first transfer window. Can't see Sarri moving for Hart tbh.

Chelsea don't have managers, they have coaches. If the board wants Hart they'll buy Hart. :p

I'm fairly sure Sarri wanted Jorginho and if Conte had stayed, he'd have signed for City. Chelsea are also linked with several other Seria A players that are likely Sarri's targets.

I don‘t get why he is so hated. I know it is funny to laugh at his mistakes because of his City connection, but at this point no one considers him a Man City player anymore.

I see no reason in laughing at a midtable keeper like Begovic or Butland when he makes a mistake. Everyone knows they are not great keepers.

He thinks he is top class and expects to be treated as such.

 Yeah, that was fun to watch.

He was always fronting up and acting the big man, while simultaneously believing his own hype. His glaring weaknesses were his downfall and he is either blind to them or unable to correct them. I can't see a top team going in for him.

He must really hate Pep, he's basically destroyed his career. The majority of City fans I know are shocked at his decline, they genuinely believed the only thing missing from his game was the distribution Pep craved.

His career has been in freefall ever since, having said that West Ham were a disaster last season and he basically played the majority of games behind a defence that didn't care.

I feel a bit sorry for him really.

He should go on loan or whatever this year while city are paying him 100k+ or whatever and then take a big cut price contract next year to try to be number one for some premiership team

He has a lot of self belief for a man who has made so many mistakes which is an admirable trait.
Wonder if his demands will mean other clubs just won’t pay the wages he thinks he deserves

Don’t have a major problem with the guy to be honest

Yeah but they dropped him, so he clearly isn't good enough for them.
Jose dropped Pogba, let’s get rid.
He had a bad time at West Ham, but he’s shown he’s capable of more.

I swear he wasn't always this bad, does anyone know why he's declined so quickly.

As for the future, christ knows, I can see him warming the bench at City for a season.

Has he? He played all Torinos league games when he was there and they conceded the 4th highest number of goals in the league.

To be fair he'd had a dreadful Euro 2016 before Guardiola took over officially at City.

I think England conceded 4 goals in the tournament and Hart was at fault for at least 3 with 2 being terrible mistakes. He was already in decline by then.

At his absolute best he was still dodgy.

When everyone realised you just had to shoot to his left to beat him his career in football was effectively over.

He needs to accept he is done and step away from the game.
