Joao Felix

A nothing player. A lot of technical ability but absolutely useless

One of those who has a cult following despite being bang average.
Nah, he’s an excellent footballer and is extremely talented. I still think that if you dropped him into an already amazing team where he would be purely a luxury player he’d be awesome. City or Arsenal for example.

As a Chelsea fan we were sadly a mess when he was here and likewise Barca.

A grossly overpriced, underperforming player. It was amazing Woodward didn't fork out for him when he had the chance.

He's a really skilled player, looks smooth on the ball. Technically to the eye he's really good the problem is he has a problem to translate all that ability into goals/assists.

He's a luxury player, looks great in the eye but is totally ineffective. I'd take the ugly but effective player every single time.

If there was a football equivalent to the Harlem Globetrotters, he’d be perfect for them.

What qualifies Arsenal as an amazing team? What have they won?

I was surprised Arsenal didn't sign him the window he went to Chelsea, got in Trossard instead. Then signed Havertz the following summer who plays similar positions.

He’s still a very good player. For whatever reason, hasn’t all come together for him in his career. He needs to be in the perfect environment/team for him I reckon. Similar to Havertz, his career was drifting but he happened upon the perfect environment to play football that accentuated the strengths that he has which has seen him reignite for club and country.

He gives you 10 good games a year

Has all the technical and physical tools to be one of the best in the world, but lacks the mentality, which is the most important aspect of all

I think there is a real player there for the team that gives him a proper home and makes him feel loved and appreciated.

Too much moving around and ill fits in his career to date. The team that gives him a proper role and home will reap the rewards.

When Emery first came in he actually referenced him a few times at press conferences so there was interest from us around the time he moved to Chelsea. Just feels like someone who'll be content to move around CL contenders even if he's just a squad player. Will probably go on loan to Bayern Munich or Juventus next season.

Villa would actually be really interesting with the pace the wide players have. It would offer something different than Watkins and allow them to mix it up, which is needed at that level.

Amazing talent but 90% of the time plays like he doesn’t care for the game.

He’s like Juan Mata without the hugs.
He’s like Jadon Sancho without the vibes.
He’s like Adnan Januzaj without Moyes.
He’s like Omari Forson without a contract.

In other words, pointless player.

He's a forward version of Pogba

His fans actually „defend“ him in the same way. He just needs an absolutely perfect team, where everybody does everything for him and then he would be brilliant.

Some of the games where he and Lemar were in form (and ideally including in-form Llorente and Correa nearby) were some insanely good football games. Unfortunately Lemar is trying to break Martial's injury records and Felix is often too busy losing his composure either on or off the field. Truth be told, Simeone could have managed this all much better, but alas.

But goes to show, something being there, does not always mean it coming to fruition completely.

This kid could beat any opposition for you, but he could also be the reason you feel like playing with 10. It's sad when a hype first shows to be true, but then doesn't after all.
He's still young enough to develop himself mentally in time to show the world his football talents, but in the end football players peak at a super young age and many won't find themselves in time.

I feel like people have already forgotten his loan spell at Chelsea, where he was pretty underwhelming

Interesting that he has a offer from Benfica that Atletico like (as Simone wants him gone) and apparently Aston Villa are interested as Emery likes him according to gullium balague.

Apparently he's not interested in pushing himself to the highest level, as Diego Simeone discovered at atletico.

Just wants to play football his way and do his own thing. Sounds like Sancho.

Waste of talent

Simone not exactly the manager under which you would expect his talents to flourish to be perfectly honest

Antoine Griezmann had his best years at Atletico Madrid before moving to Barcelona.

He was a far more established player having spent 4/5 seasons at Sociedad, and not a kid who really only had a single season in top-flight football

A case study for how top tier talent can be undermined by a bottom tier mentality. He has all the physical tools and technique to be a world class forward but he doesn’t have the consistent drive, mental toughness or desire to be the best, to make use of even a fraction of that ability. He’s a player no top club should ever sign because he’ll only wilt under pressure. Could still be a good player at a mid tier club where expectations and pressure are much lower. He’s been at Atlético, Chelsea and Barca the last three seasons, and none of them wanted to keep him. That’s about as big a red flag as anyone could ever give you.

Football fans are just old romantics at heart. They love the idea that there’s this lavishly gifted player waiting to be unlocked and your club could just be the place where it all clicks for him. But people forget that mentality is a skill set just like pace or first touch, and it’s the one attribute that can’t be compensated for by others. An average player physically and mentally with a top tier mentality, will always beat a brilliant physical and technical player with a garbage mentality.

I never understood why AM bought him in the first place

Excellent footballers don’t need to be luxury players at already amazing teams to be awesome. You were also a mess last season but Palmer did just fine.

He's a world class player. Insanely talented. He just needs the other players to be the best in the world and do absolutely everything for him.

I would still take him here. We have a bit of history with enigmatic, gifted forwards who just need the right home.

He doesn't score for Atletico, he doesn't score for Chelsea, he doesn't score for Barcelona and he doesn't score for Portugal....

I can promise he would not score for Man United

I was gonna say you're having a laugh, then realised you are. Made me chuckle.
