I like the look of this kid but 2 things.

First, do we not have Chong who looks similar? Wouldn’t cost us a thing.

Secondly, he’s developing nicely at Benfica. I fear the physical nature of the PL might come too early for him

Pogba isn't a 10 at all and never will be. If we play him as a 10, we'll waste him. This lad looks like an exciting player really. One of the very few I want us to sign. Could play everywhere in attack...seems like pure class to me.

This guy reminds me more of Kaka than anyone else. His physical characteristics help too, but just the way he carries the ball, seems graceful in the way Kaka did it.

I know nothing about the kid but did City say nah to Bernardo because they already had Silva and De Bruyne? You can never have enough good players and we'd surely rather have a top talent than watch him excel at a rival

He looks brilliant. I was surprised to see our name mentioned though as I don't see how he'd fit into our current system.

My thoughts are that either a) he comes to play our unconventional RW role, which is more of an inside right CAM, which we all would rather see the back of, or b) he plays on the left, which is a position he seems to find himself in in attack. But then that disrupts Martial again.

He doesn't look anything like Chong imo and is further along in hia development and, most likely, just more talented.

I've seen Chong mentioned here and in the Sancho thread and I didn't want to be too negative in responding to this, but Chong isn't on the same level as these players right now and, in my opinion, it's touch and go whether he makes it at United qithout serious improvement. There's only Greenwood worth mentioning alongside these two, and he plays a different position so it doesn't affect him.

They're very different players. One is a 10, the other is a winger.

If you push Felix even a bit further up it's basically the formation Liverpool is playing. Firmino is assigned as the "striker" in the formation graphics, but is playing like a 9,5 behind 2 more attacking "wingers".

Felix demonstrates maturity well beyond his years. His skills are not for show-boating but for actual deception and there's a plan behind every move. He seems to be a good header of the ball which isn't bad for someone whose 5'11. He's quick and two-footed and brings something different from what we have at the club.

Seems a real talent, he’s quite slight though and the physicality of the prem would be quite a tough proposition for him but sometimes the skills, agility and the application of players is enough, look at Ronaldo when he first arrived.

Looks a classy player. Just not what we need right now with our current set up. We need the next Bale, Robben. Is there anyone out there that fits this mould?

Why dont we need him now ? Surely a massive upgrade on Lingard and mata

He doesn't play RW from what people are saying though. Looks like CAM (Lingard and Mata's best positions but how often do we play that setup?). I'm wondering if he could play CM next to Pogba, although it might be too attacking. We shouldn't fall into the trap of buying and shoehorning again though.

Nice player but not what we need. We have attacking options good enough, it's what's going on behind them that needs resolving. I'd argue Pogs could play further forward if we could sign the right midfielder....

We don't have enough quality depth. Sanchez and Mata need replacing. I do agree the midfield needs more urgent work though

Maybe, I'd like to see some of the young players get game time than buy others that may limit that. I think Ole will think the same....

If we want to be the best We need to be in for the best talents of this generation and this lad is certainly on that list. Sancho or Chiesa De Ligt Tonali. It’s getting to be like real life FM but these players are showing outstanding promise at a young age.

Id like to see Gomes and Chong be part of the squad if they are ready. I think though we also need to add some quality and get rid of dead weight we are currently carrying.

We'll see about Ole because he hasn't exactly given Gomes or Chong a lot of minutes during an injury crisis so maybe he doesn't feel they are ready who knows. One thing is clear is that he doesn't really trust Sanchez (subbed on an injured Lingard before him vs Liverpool) but he still plays him ahead of the other two young talents. May indicate he doesn't think they are ready. Still only speculating.

Yes, Kaka is exactly the right comparison imo too! At least when looking at those videos.

We do not have good enough attacking options at all.

We have maybe the fourth best attack in the league. We have scored one-third less goals than Liverpool and City.

We need to add at least one class attacker (Sancho).

Is the Kaka comparison due to appearance or position? He has nowhere near the running power that Kaka had.

I don't think Felix is a 10. He's a poacher for my money. Will be a top forward when he fills out I reckon but needs to stay in Portugal for now. A gust of wind would blow him over.

He looks fantastic, great technique, great first touch, fantastic vision and finishing, especially for a 19 year old

Despite how well

I think it depends from person to person. You've got Fred whose got the same built and physique as a David Silva and Bernardo Silva and seems to be struggling to keep up with the pace. I feel Felix has that in his game to get stuck in and to ride tackles. He could bulk up at United as Ronaldo had done as well as Rashford has done in the past couple years. Felix has what it takes to become the next big thing.

Season started 14 games ago....

Have you seen these two players play? One is a lot better than the other

Ticks every box for me as a player we need and do not have. Price does seem high but then again it is Portugal.
However it looks like someone that would end up at City or in Spain instead of us, we just never buy these type of players.

No, not surely at all. He's not better than either of them. He's a 19 year old that shows promise of being and upgrade but he would neither surely be an upgrade immediately or possibly be an upgrade because there are more factors than talent that determine how good a player will be for a club. You buy him because you believe he could be the best player you could get in that position or one of best player assuming you already have someone else at the club that competes or you get more players. Nothing in football is certain. Even signing a world class player can fail.

Hmmm price is the thing, if he was bargain basement then sure why not, but top dollar, not sure his tricks translate to the PL, will more than likely just have his legs kicked out from under him, probably won't get anywhere near the time and space he currently enjoys, that coupled with his build make him a risky bit of business in my books, I know slight players can excel here, remember juninho at borough, or even Silva (although he is stockier), but then go back and watch a video of Tosic.

Fair enough. To be honest I’m not the best at judging a players ability or sussing out whether they’ll make it here or anywhere else to be honest and I’ve never heard of half these kids that pop up in these forums, I don’t know where people get the time to watch the Bundesliga or whatever, I catch the odd YouTube vid on here but they’re never the best thing to gauge a young players potential.

Odd that Juventus want him when they have Dybala. Also odd Man City are interested when they have KDB and the two Silvas.

Seems too good a player that we'd sensibly go for.
Dybala could be off any day now, KDB is a sick note and the bald Silva is getting older.

I don't think Dybala is going anywhere, but Im not a Serie A junkie so I could be wrong. Not sure who would buy him to be honest. Juventus have just bought Ramsey who will operate in advanced areas too.

I don't see City suddenly replacing KDB. He's had injuries through this season but they have enough strength in depth for that position. Especially with Foden looking so sharp whenever called upon. Guardiola said himself other positions are the priority.

It wouldn't look too good on Pep if he spends a ridiculous amount for another young player yet Foden is just getting games in Carabao Cup matches, off the bench or games against cannon fodder. Yet he is supposed to be the next best thing.

Exactly. Foden is meant to be a serious talent and he looks more than ready every time I've seen him. Would be bizzare if they buy talent ahead of him.

When Lingard and Mata play their average position ends up either directly in line with the right side of the center circle, or just a couple of yards further towards the right flank.

They arent playing as wingers. They are playing in the same areas that Silva and De Bruyne are playing for City. Inside right and inside right areas that number 10s like to operate in. The only difference is City have more players in front of them and less behind.

We've played that way with our right sided player for almost the entire time since Sir Alex finished as manager. Thats also coincided with our run of less success...

Anyway, when Rashford was playing a few games on the right this season he played with some width. That was the first time we've had something like a proper right winger since Antonio Valencia in Sir Alex final season. And now I guess Dalot is continuing that with his recent few games as a right midfielder.

Point is someone directly replacing Mata, or Lingard in the lineup, is playing a number 10 role in the same way that if someone replaces David Silva or De Bruyne in the City lineup, they are playing a number 10 role pushing on from CM while they have 1 CM holding.

Joao Felix is a second striker or number 10 so yes he can directly replace them
