Little frustrating Erik has lost out on yet another target, however at least he didn't join an Arsenal brimming with confidence which is something
I hear you, but not sure we are competing with Arsenal this season, and losing to Chelsea and Liverpool did also hurt quite a bit.

The gap in quality on the benches is gonna be scary on Saturday but nothing we do until new owners come in hopefully in next few months

Starting to wonder mad as it might have first appeared if we should have met their demands, got no cover for Bruno/Eriksen plus lost Donny for an extended period of time

if he does well then it means he is a good fit for the team, right? Chelsea is a big club located in London and they paid their players really well. Why go else where unless it is Real Madrid, Barcelona, City or PSG comes calling.
He’s not staying at Chelsea next season. He ll want champions league football. If he does well he ll move to a CL club. If he flops he goes back to atletico.
he’s got 4 months to put himself in the shop window, with Chelsea paying 20m when they have nothing to play for other than cL, for a player they lose in 4 months. Absolute circus that club, and they’re stacked with number 10s. Very interested to see him in the premier league. Just a shame city got to play Chelsea at their lowest point.

yep. That’s why no one else was interested

oh and no option to buy
It could be an odegaard like situation where if the loan was successful, the player would be inclined towards re-joining rather than going elsewhere.

Ornstein is the one who said it. I guess he’s a tier one when it suits and just talking crap when it doesn’t yeah? :D
So you really think he chose you? Us and arsenal refused to pay what they wanted. Yous did because your desperate

If he does well in Chelsea and wants CL football, then he can earn it with Chelsea, just like Odegaard in Arsenal, or even when Ronaldinho joined a weak Barcelona side rather than Man Utd at their peak back then. Chelsea is a big club that enjoyed huge success for the past 15 years.

Where on earth is 20m coming from?

Plus the wages of around £6m
Adding wages when discussing a signing fee is certainly a new one!

On a more serious note while the loan fee is a bit higher than the average the reaction is a bit over the top, didn't Sevilla give you guys £6m to loan Martial?

That said I'm a bit meh about the deal, after Sunday I'm starting to doubt that even Enzo can fix this, atleast in the short term.

Good player individually, but with Chelsea, it'll be an addition to the long list of forwards who can't find the back of the net. 4 month adapting period to premier league seems too little for him to make an impact. They're going to be better off buying him outright and working on developing him.

I was a bit meh about us not loaning him that was until I realised how little depth we have and now I'm quite gutted he joined you instead of us

Yeah it's another Gakpo joining a rival, what's the betting they both perform well against us to really rub it in our faces
They're both players that I'm not convinced are right for us tbh. Gakpo looks good but similar to what we have. Felix seems to have a lot of natural talent but how that translates to a central striker in a more physical league is again debatable. They seem like those good additons but not definitive ones that would make us significantly better. Which is why I don't feel bothered.

I feel someone like Enzo going to Chelsea would have been a lot worse (can still happen of course).

I just feel either of them could have covered a few positions in the attacking third because we are a few injuries away from big trouble

Great signing. Dude will light up this premier league along with Mudryk. Boy Manchester United sure let this one slip

Fair enough but I think we are the stage where we have to make signings that aren't fillers but take us to the next step. Once we get Antony and then Sancho going we don't lack depth out wide. And in the hole have Bruno and Eriksen. What we need imo are those singings that perfectly slot in like Liverpool made when going from top 4 to title challengers or we did from 05/06 to league domination.

Not sure if posted.

If true, makes sense why there's no buy option for Chelsea.

The trouble is with all these games we don't really have the time for Antony and Sancho to get going, hence why I feel we need another plug and play loan deal who could provide some cover in attacking areas whether midfield or out wide.

chelsea end up pay huge loan for felix. after they defeated worst against City. Maybe this is panic buying. Hope we will get another available striker to choose when this season ends..

It’s not really a new one when it’s discussing a loan. Infact is common practice as not everyone pays full wages given it’s not actually their player.

The fact is it’s a ridiculous amount of money, well over £15m, for a player for roughly 4 months. Especially when you consider there’s no option to buy included nor does he fit your set up.

There’s a reason why neither United or Arsenal have accepted the terms.
