I see your point. At the same time, you have a few very good centrebacks with several games together making them hard to break up. Virgil van Dijk made his debut for Holland at 24. And their options was awful.
There is a lot of talk about pace in here, but in my opinion it is a bit overrated. Not one of the centrebacks at City is fast (Kompany used to be). The centrebacks at Juve or Atletico Madrid is not very fast either. If they know how to play, it is not a big issue. It is almost better to have a "slow" defender, who knows how to adapt, facing a fast attacker, than a defender who usually is able to make up for bad positioning through his pace.
