29 goals and 14 assists over 12 seasons in PL, focus on brands and social media, 0 care about his career, if you think this type of player is good enough to step a foot in this club nevermind start for us, you are living in cuckoo-land. We should have offloaded him last summer, it's a crime he's still living off our club

Actually 29 goals and 17 assists in 158 PL games, or 8958 minutes. Meaning a G/A every 195 minutes.
Not sure what to think about that. It doesn't sound too bad, a G/A every other match, but compared to Bruno (G/A every 103 minutes) or Greenwood (G/A every 173 minutes) he'd be a downgrade.

It's an atrocious record. Can't believe we didn't get rid.

It’s not good but a bit forgotten that he has played outside his best positions, fullback and right wing whereas his best results have been AM or LW

Yeah he is particularly unsuited to playing on the right wing and he definitely wasn't at his best there. Can't say I remember him ever playing fullback outside of a half at wing-back under LVG though.

He was offered one back at the start of the season and said no, that was the moment when it became obvious that he was never serious about staying here and was just looking to run his contract down and move on a free and his behaviour the past couple of weeks just underlines that.

I truly believe Lingard letting his contract run down to its end is a publicity ploy to keep him in the news all year, despite barely playing.

Now with our lack of attacking options, he is inevitably going to get more game time and is likely to justify a pay rise and renew his association with the club for several more years, in the eyes of the board.

Unfortunately this club is run by morons and they'll happily give Lingard a new contract rather than sign an appropriate replacement.

That’s one of the stupidest statements I’ve read
He literally wouldn’t be a professional footballer if he didn’t care about his career.

Nobody gives a feck about what you read to be honest, if he cared he would have moved on already, 12 seasons here and will never be a fit for the starting 11 of this club, West Ham was his peak.

You’re missing the point because clearly you don’t like him. That’s your opinion.
However, “he doesn’t care about his career” is simply nonsense. You don’t spend 12 seasons at United, England and a bit at West Ham if you don’t care about your career. That’s my point

He will get his chances now. Who knows, he might hit a nice patch of form.

His fitness is a bit concern, doesn't look half as in shape as he usually is.

This time last year vs Now

Greenwood's absence is just an excuse to make the board's decision seem more sensible.

These are the same morons that got together to decide we should spend 80 million on a non exceptional CB.

It doesn't justify his behaviour, but he's been massively fecked by the club. His previous manager didn't want to sell him (per Moyes) and now the board is refusing to let him go because they tried haggling to salvage a transfer fee.

I don't mind Lingard as a squad player, but he's a bit redundant given our other players in his best positions.

Yeah according to Moyes not Solskjaer.

You think he's lying?

It would make sense given that there was very little transfer talk surrounding the move, which could indicate West Ham knew not to chase him.

I find it hard to believe they didn't want Jesse for footballing reasons.

No I believe Moyes did (inappropriately) phone Solskjaer up asking about Lingard. And Solskjaer with it not being his job to deal with transfer negotiations and not wanting to weaken United's hand in said negotiations obviously said ''No Jesse's not for sale David I desperately want to keep the guy (who he barely played for 18 months, then loaned out and then barely played again when he returned from loan)''. Basically Solskjaer was saying tell West Ham to pay up if you want him Dave.

So either Moyes is a bit dim and took this at face value, now Moysey's never struck me as the sharpest knife in the drawer but it seems unlikely he wouldn't read between the lines of Solskjaer's comments here. Or Moyes knew exactly what Ole meant but West Ham weren't willing to match United's admittedly high valuation of Lingard. So Moyes went public with a private conversation to save face and explain why West Ham were not pursuing a player who was clearly for sale and was a stand out performer for them on loan. And stir a little bit of shit in the process no doubt.

RR specified the date Lingard asked to return. He’s pretty clear on that with no doubt at all. Whther you believe RR or Lingard here, it’s up to your common sense.

Yet more conflicting statements from Rangnick and one of his want away players. It really is peculiar. One is not being entirely truthful.

It's funny how this only happens with players that reportedly had attitude problems, and yet never happens with players like Ronaldo, Varane, Bruno or Fred. I wonder why?

Simple explanation:

If the club decided that they needed a backup in Jesse due to the Greenwood situation, then why would they ask Jesse to take time off? Clearly, Jesse was throwing a strop or had a hissy fit and so RR probably suggested that he talk the time off to calm down.
Its better than telling the 100% truth that Jesse threw a tantrum and then we told him to calm down. And take a few days off.
But instead ''Jesse asked for a few days off to clear his mind. Or maybe it's just something lost in translation.

I do not think it is conflicting at all. Jesse says 'club' advised him to take time off. By that he could mean it was the medical staff or the staff in charge of taking care of mental well being of players or it could be the CEO with who Lingard may have had a conversation after a failed transfer/loan. Afterall, Rangnick, in his own words, always distances himself with getting involved in outgoing transfers and tells player to talk to the club and the board if they want out. Then Lingard probably agreed with whoever advised him to take time off and conveyed the same information/request to Rangnick who then approved it. That still means it was Jesse who asked Rangnick for the time off because it was on Jesse to heed the advice or not.

Well put. Players committed to the cause are being seen reporting to duty and getting the job done. Even Fred reported back immediately after a long South American flight. I’m glad Ralf has been calling out players that have been hiding behind excuses

It’s absolutely fine to want to leave over a lack of playing time, and it’s fine to need some time off for personal reasons that none of us are truly clued in on… but it’s not really a great look to immediately undermine your manager ‘cos you don’t like it out there that you’re not playing, when at worst someone at the club is trying to do you a favour, and you presumably could’ve just refused if it wasn’t needed… especially when this is one of the first games in months you were very likely to get playing time, you’ve just spent a week relaxing in Dubai and your brothers been posting insta stories of you in a West Ham kit implying you’re being held prisoner.

‘Cos that doesn’t really paint the most ‘professional’ picture

Could be, but the evidence (our 30 man squad, not loaning Elanga or Donny) suggests Ole was a massive hoarder. Also the fact that there was no transfer talk around Lingard (from other clubs) as well, suggest he wasn't actually for sale.

Occam's razor.

Pretty much my thoughts.

Ralf gonna be calling things out as they are. He doesnt strike me as the sort of guy to make drama/a circus.

They’re not really conflicting. He’s getting time off for personal reasons. That’s what they both basically said. The only wriggle room is whether Jesse asked for time “to clear his head” or the club advised him to take some time out. And unless the club were somehow reading his mind, that conversation has to have been initiated by Lingard. So his tweet is, at best, disingenuous.

Yup. It’s an ill judged tweet, that’s for sure.

Or alternative answer is that is happened exactly as the parties involved say it did. Moyes asked, Ole didn't want to sell him, Lingard stayed.

Not sure why it was inappropriate for Moyes to speak to Ole either. Managers have been talking to each other about signing players forever. They all know each other, meet up regular etc.

Is somebodie taking the word of Lingard over Ragnick? Jessie has had support from the club during his personal problems and continues to be paid well until the summer. He should do his fecking job, keep silent and then bugger of in the summer. If it were up to me I would let him go now if possible. Is he not one of the prime examples of a modern player more focused on antics of the pitch then focusing on delivering on the pitch? I liked the comment from Ragnick that Pogba will be a part of the group, that he sees him as an 8 in the system and most importantly that "Pogba" has to show up in the coming weeks as it´s best for him personally and the club. That for me is making it clear that Pogba will get a chance but needs to step up.
I like very much how Ragnick answers all questions clearly and it´s just miles ahead of the jibberish that OGS was telling every week.

We are turning into an actual joke. People in here and in other treads defending Ragnicks “honesty” but don’t see the same thing happened with Martial. Atleast with OGS (who should have been gone a year ago) there was a sense of unity.

Now the football is thrash, the results are crap and to top it off almost weekly we have a new piece of controversy surrounding the team. Players taking digs at teammates, the system or manager. Storming of the pitch and these twitter/instagram post. We are now just turning into Eastenders and our current setup with RR at the help is not helping in the slightest.

He's said this again, he's specifically said Jesse asked me, i'm pretty sure he would know and remember Lingard coming up to him and asking him and not just bull about that

These comments are coming out now, now he's specifically said Jesse asked me, so... I think he would remember Jesse asking him

Where is Martial now? In Spain with Sevilla because the manager did not rate him as having worth as a player for us. Martial and then Lingard coming out and trying to spin things in their favour does not change anything...both have been deemed as not up to standard. Sense of unity with OGS you say..most of the players were playing so well below standard it was pathetic to watch. OGS was to soft with this lot and they undermined him and got him sacked..that´s not unity. RR is showing that it´s his way or you leave.
