Chong ain’t getting game time on his loanElanga and Chong before were way too far from the first team for us to afford selling Lingard. Like someone said he could still do a job. If injuries come and we need a rest and need to win games, Lingard won´t be that big downgrade and is good system player, runs well, can press and that can help us maintain shape, youngsters can´t do that with way lower fitness levels. On top of that who knows maybe jesse can hit another purple patch in which he outperformed star players like alli for a while. Homegrown player who won´t cause a havoc for not playing. I don´t see why that is a problem to have him around untill this season. We will definitely use him even this one but for the next one. Chong could be ready to feature more and provide what Lingard does now, Elanga ready to have his breakthrough season if he stays fit, Pellistri or Traore in the mix too.
Next season he´s off but until that we have needed options and fill the gaps..
So it seems, unfortunately. So even Raiola can't get him a decent contract elsewhere?
Yup can talk to other teams in January.Isn't he on a free in the summer?
Injured then out due to being in contact with someone who had CovidWhere is he at the moment? Injured still? Personal problems?
Seems to have disappeared totally out of it.
Brighton have shown that they like playing with broken toys like Welbeck and Lallana so maybe there. He's clearly done here, hard to see where he goes up from here.
Where do we reckon he'll end up next season?
Any club would be bonkers to pay anywhere close to 100k a week for Lingardinho. Poor dressing room influence - especially for the younger players - never mind his footballing ability (or lack thereof).
Hopefully he comes to his senses and is willing to take 25% of his wages to move to a Championship club, and even then I'm not sure if he's good enough to play there.
I think the poster is talking about his attitude which has been called into question numerous times. The fact Ole, probably the least reluctant of managers to name & shame players, addressed it publicly says a lot.Don't rate Lingard at all but bolded part is obviously nonsense or do you have any evidence of this.
I wonder what happened to him between being first choice under Jose and saving our arse a few times as well as memeing the life out of Arsenal to falling this far into the mud.
Was full of confidence. Had issues in his personal life and never recovered from it on the pitch it seems.
He's had three distinct different levels of form.It was just a very rare patch of purple form that some players experience during their career and can never reproduce. He was pretty average before that and has been average afterwards too.
Haven't United got an option to activate another year on his contract?
If they have and they've not done it by January maybe that's a sign of them knowing there is a lack of interest in him and they don't want to be lumbered with a 100k a week problem.
I was checking on his stats and found that he only scored 33 goals for us in 209 games. The only season he broke double digits in goals scored is 2017/2018. Other seasons his best record was 6 goals.
Shocking stats for a forward that has just completed his 28 really.
He's not a forward to be fair though.
Not great numbers for an attacking midfielder either, but fair is fair.
As silly as Lingard seems on social media he’s never been someone who has popped up in headlines for the wrong reasons. He’s not a Grealish or Alli or anything. Will be involved in the squad vs Everton. Don't see the point at all just move him on but whatever.
Also apparently acting like a mentor figure to Greenwood according to Hirst
