We have a thin squad and it’s like being down another player. He used to get bashed in here for being average which I thought was harsh a year or two ago but he has got worse and really is a championship player

I genuinely think he wouldnt cut it in the top half of the Championship either.

I wonder if we ever had a worse regular first team starter? Not in recent times.

There was also that really tame shot from outside the box that went straight down the middle without any pace. The keeper didn't move a muscle, just casually caught it

It's hard to keep track, he's something else. Shout out to Mr. @GifLord, I wouldn't have the patience to make these. Viva JLingz.

I don't think I've ever seen a Utd player be this bad for this long.

He has been the worst player on the pitch every game for almost an entire year.

He needs to be dropped from the squad completely and sold as soon as possible. A terrible player.

Actually feel a bit sorry for him, he looks totally shot of confidence. He’s usually very chirpy on the pitch and jokey before and after but he looks so down atm every time the camera is on him. He’s very social media aware so I think the abuse is probably getting him down. There is a decent player in there who’s certainly not as bad as the one we’ve seen for the past year, needs to snap out of it.

At his best he was just an average-decent player for an average-decent, top 6 team. The new Darren Gibson.

Thats fine, but the place for rediscovering that player is not Manchester United. Even at his best he was barely good enough, so why continue to flog a dead horse?

The days of us being a charity for players is over. We are far poorer with the likes of himself, Mata and Matic in the team. These were meant to be our leaders this season and all three have wilted tremendously. I dont care if he's social media aware, David Beckham had a fecking effigy of him hanging from a street lamp. If he is so mentally weak that he takes on the social media criticism, then perhaps he should reconsider being so active and get his head down. All he's doing is inviting pressure on to himself.

Well yeah I mean I did say he needs to snap out of it. But you can still feel sympathetic to him.

Actually feel a bit sorry for him.

Really?

I don't...

The new deal sees him pocket a salary of around £100,000 a week, which means that he will earn roughly £21 million for the duration, without taking performance-dependent bonuses into account. A weekly salary of £100k amounts to £5.2m a year

Players like him give me hope that even I can make it at the highest levels of professional football.

Stealing a living.

Not really. If you set yourself up to be a social media queen, if you dont perform you better be ready to cop the stick. Right now the last thing he should be doing is focusing on social media.

In the grand scheme of things Jesse Lingards social media behaviour is like a Disney film compared to the way a lot of people on social media behave.

Really?

I don't...

Surely an elderly and knowledgeable gentleman like yourself knows money doesn’t always equate to happiness.
There is no way in hell Lingard is thinking “I don’t give a shit how I play, as long as I’m making all this money”.

Again, the whole argument returns to the conduct of the indvidual. Jesse makes his money from fans. He also puts himself in the public eye. He's profiting off that exposure and encourages interaction through his social media, yet when he continues to do so while playing like shit, im suppose to feel sorry for him? These aren't personal issues that he is going through. These are the people responding to how he performs in his job.

Putting it simply, how about he tones down his social media activity until he starts playing at a suitable level (if possible). Its as simple as that.

I think you’re looking for an argument that isn’t really there. Again I’m going to point to me stating he needs to “snap out of it “.
He’s aware he’s in shite form, you can see by his body language that he’s down and I can see that and I’m saying that I feel sorry for him because of that. You seem to have latched onto this social media thing but it’s not the centre piece of the initial point I was making.
It doesn’t matter how rich someone is or how bad they’re performing on the pitch or if they post a lot on social media, you can still feel sorry for them if you can see that they’re down, Jesus....

Thought it was probably his best game of the season. Of course, it was still a 4/10 instead of his usual 2/10 so it still wasn't anywhere near good enough. A bit of an improvement though.
i thought it was a 2.1/10

Im not really sure what he offers at this point. Horrible on the ball, no creativity, no end product, bad touches, bad decisions, bad passing ability.

He was a slightly better version of himself a year ago, but really we should be looking to move him on at the first possible chance.

Completely out of his depth.

Again members are slating off our youth - the lad is barely 27 for crying out. Give him another 5 years to reach his full potential.

Seriously, I never thought of him as a starter but as a decent squad player and to be fair to him he has never been that bad as he was over the past few games. Not sure if he is still recovering from injury and he looks way short on confidence. For his and United sake I hope that he recovers some form. We entering into a stage where we need to have all our players in good nick

Can we get a compilation of all his receiving touches from throw ins in the past year? I have never seen someone consistently feck around with their first touch as much as he does. He consistently gives the ball away receiving a throw in because he tries to hide his shite technique by doing some odd flick for absolutely no fecking reason.

It's absolutely pivotal because as a #10, you will be the one that most likely receives throw ins
This is such a good point. I only noticed it, you can expand it to what he does on the pitch too, he tries too many first time passes to hide his poor first touch

Burnley (PL) and Arsenal (FA Cup), both in January.

He didn't score in Premier League in 2019. Feels ridiculous to say that but that is the truth. That Burnley game you meant was the 2-2 right? Pogba and Lindelof scored our goals back then.

Actually I think the goal against Arsenal in FA Cup was his only goal in the entire 2019.

He scored 5 goals last season, against Cardiff (2 in one match), Liverpool, Arsenal (2 in league and FA cup). All of these were in 2018 bar the FA Cup game.

You're right.

He has 1 goal (Arsenal in the FA Cup) and 2 assists (Burnley 2-2 at home, Rochdale League Cup) in all of 2019. 3 goal involvements in a total 1559 minutes in 2019. A goal/assist every 520 minutes. Or every 5.8 games. Beyond pathetic for a supposed attacking player.

Ole seems to have a ruthless streak in him and I think Lingard will be shocked when he gets dumped. This prolonged slump that he is in will cost him.

Yesterday he very, very nearly beat a man with the ball, had it not been for that slight change of wind speed that clearly effected his touch, I think he’d have gone on to score if I’m honest. Bet all you detractors are eating your words now, anyone with half a brain can see that this young lad is going to be a superstar. ”Sell him”, why would we when are so lucky to have him. It’s obviously down to the formation, the manager just isn’t bringing the best out of him.

If Ole really is ruthlessly culling the deadwood, this joke needs to be the top of the list. Lingard epitomises the meaning of deadwood in football....an attacking player in his late 20s who hasn't scored a league goal for 1yr and has one league assist in that same time frame while earning 100k or more a week.

If he gets a contract extension it proves that Ole us simply peddling a narrative that all we need is British academy 'lads' who 'get the club' regardless of quality.

Hate him with a vengeance. Fellaini was nowhere near good enough but seemed to have an affable personality. Lingard is a detestable little man
