Because of the time he was given because of the quality of the opponent. Are we seriously going to give him credit for the match today. We played against a Sunday league opponent.Super goal and fine curling effort that hit the outside of the post. Got on the ball a lot. 6 shots, 3 key passes. Technique looked better than it has done on plenty of perfect surfaces this season.
That's what people were saying about young. They said he looks better than ever and were blaming our tactics of why he's not been immense for us. They aren't aware of the fact that if a player with lesser quality has a lot more time on the ball then this allows room for a better technique to be shown.Because of the time he was given because of the quality of the opponent. Blind Favouritism. Why was he given the armband? Feck me. What does that say about what Ole and Co. feel about him? We're fecked!
Who else should have gotten it? Lindelöf or Jones? Why was he given the armband? Feck me. What does that say about what Ole and Co. feel about him? We're fecked!

Played very well today he’s a good player has some good qualities. Everyone is too harsh on him I think. Hope the goal helps his confidence and we can see more of that celebration
His form has simply been in the toilet. He is no where near as bad a player as some people insist on claiming. I hope today is a step in a better direction for him. Not another false Dawn like the Astana and City games.People hate on him, and he has beenshit for a while. But given the squad, I still think he should be ahead of Pereira. Hes just a better player. Hes been well below his actual level for a while, but in general I think we'd be better off if he got his confidence back and we had him in instead of Pereira as more of a regular. Nothing amazing, but he should be a solid squad player.
Too harsh? What do you think is the right response from Manchester United fans towards him and his performances? I actually think the fans have been very patient with him and only since the beginning of this season is he starting to get critism and that started mostly as a reaction to his social media actions.
It won't, I mean I don't it will. He will hardly play against such poor opponents. No amount of confidence can hide your real quality as a playerHis confidence and form is currently shot to pieces. The performance today will hopefully help to fix it. Unless a bunch of non-fans decide to abuse him online relentlessly.
He's capable of playing at a higher level than he's currently showing. Given that our squad is paper thin, it makes sense to want the players still here to be at the top of their form.It won't, I mean I don't it will. He will hardly play against such poor opponents. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-49712728Do you guys think that if we "abuse" Mane, Salah, and Firminho online, their confidence and form will be shot, and turn into championship level payer?
This is a major discovery, if it works.

Manchester United fans can choose not to rate him. They can choose to disagree with the manager for picking him. They can choose to think that Woodward made a mistake by offering him a contract. They can choose to think he's weak for having mental health issues. They can also choose to criticise him for poor performances.
But the directed personal abuse, the use of his name as punchlines in unrelated jokes all over Twitter, the memes and the unflattering videos from supposed United fans... that stuff will dent the psyche of anyone who's lacking in confidence.
He's as human as any other online celebrity or influencer with issues. If you care about the club, you should care about helping Lingard be as good as possible in the shirt rather than knocking him down.
Ganging up on Lingard won't affect our transfer strategy. But it will eventually get back to him and cause him to second guess himself on the pitch. He's obviously very connected to social media and his 0.0012% comment is proof that it's not helping.

Have a read of that.
Mane, Salah, and Firminho won't care what United fans think of them. And their confidence is high enough that it won't affect them. But when you're already low, 10's of thousands of people piling in on you won't help.
The abuse is worse when it's coming from your own team's fans - because they should in theory be supporting you, but instead they're actively undermining you. That distinction is massive. It's the difference between being told to feck off by your longtime childhood crush versus a girl you didn't like anyway. There's a classy way to do it that doesn't ruin the guy's confidence and give him a complex. Especially when you still might need him for at least a few more months.

It's not confidence, it's not form. He continued to be shit after Astana, he's just shite and has always been. Some people can't accept that.
Yeh. Even his manager commented his social media activities should be lessened and focus more on football. It will hurt his confidence if he isn't made of the right stuff or is very concerned by what is said about him online.
Those players rarely achieve their potential because they get affected by these things.
Don't get me wrong, personnal abuse is a no-no but we know it's there guaranteed if your football is poor, better get ready to ignore it than be shaken by it
https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...ball-news/man-utd-news-jesse-lingard-17517624"I think [social media] is part of being a Man United player, how you come across. And I think it's important that you do give up yourself in a positive way and it's more football-related.
