Actually he is a great player to have. Is he a starter? Probably not. But he does have these great spells, he can play across all attacking midfield positions, maybe even as a wing-back, similar to Young, Valencia, so as a squad player he does give you a lot of options.
Also, while he is not consistent enough to be a top player, he is capable of producing the moments of pure magic. Like that Watford goal of that Cup winner.

Okay so one deflected goal and suddenly everything came to perfection. Good luck with that because it exactly is the way dear Jesse would use for manipulating your mind. He will have one random lucky shining moment before disappearing for 5 next consecutive matches. It has been over and over again for years, seems people dont want to realize or accept the truth which is not in their favor

Except Lingard is not competing with those 2 players at all. Right now he is keeping Mkhitaryan out of the side, nothing to do with Rashford and Martial.

To commit long-term future, we must assure that our best two talented players could start the game together. Having Lingard in starting XI means we lose one more slot for experimenting with combination of those two. And unlike other attacking players, Lingard is useless, then it makes no sense wasting time on him.

I know it will take time to get the best out of duo Rashford - Martial and maybe we'll get unexpected results during that process. But the end is promising. If not, if we really need instant results, i will gladly accept giving one of two slots to whomever Jose think will bring us the balance that he used to mention about. Anyone except Lingard, because he's unworthy and will never be the one give us good results consistently

Again you are looking at the wrong player. Lingard played behind the striker and even when Rashford and Martial started together, it's either one playing as striker and one as left winger, or one as left winger and one as right winger.

So as of now Jose has no plans of playing them behind the striker, so if anything it's Mata who is keeping Rashford out of the side and Lingard is keeping Mkhitaryan out of the side.

Bold part says everything I need to know, this is the Lingardism @golden_blunder was talking about and who can blame him for creating the thread for all this crap.

Actually neither Rashford, nor Martial can play the Jesse's role in the team. All three are perfectly compatible. And if Jose would play R&M as a forwards (without Lukaku) then Lingard's workrate and speed makes him perfect to work with this duo.

Jesus this post sure talks some amount of shite

Welbeck had more goals and assists for us than whatever Lingard is having

I don’t think you are being fair on your assessement of Jessie. If you don’t like him as a player that’s fair - everyone is free to have a different opinion and feeling towards anyone. If you want to dismantle any player and argue against a player then put time and effort in your comments and thoughts. In terms of assists and goals and the position he is playing, he is doing just fine. Personally, I don’t keep up with stats and also I am not a big fan of Jessie but I am open-minded and I do appreciate what he is bringing for our the team right now. Have a look at this video I copied over from the post wba game and you’ll understand what I mean ...

 brilliant. I love that celebration. He is a superb little versatile footballer and he reminds me a little bit of Mata with maybe less footballing smarts but more pace and energy and verve to his game. Thought he was superb this morning.

People usually don't value the things they have until they lose them. Once Rashford/Martial is gone, you will look back and understand how much using Lingard had cost us

What are you even talking about.
He’s not competing with Rashford and Martial.
The only reason he’s playing so much is because Mhiki has been useless for the last few months

Really happy with his contribution in the past few weeks, helped us pick up valuable points.

Exactly what you need from a good squad player.

Fair play to the guy, He has came good at a pivotal time for us in the season. Whether he will be able to keep this up full time is a different question though. Hopefully he can.

What I want to know is what deal with the devil has Lingard made this season... just saw that he is dating Jena Frumes.

Yep. Both Martial and Rashford have outscored that 'wonder-boy'

De Bruyne’s a better player than both of them, of course. Right now, anyway. Still, Lingard’s productivity this season is great. Considering how often his lack of productivity has been held against him in the past I’d like to see some of his critics on here to have the balls to admit they might have been wrong about him. I won’t hold my breath though.

Do you mean some critics in particular or you just haven't seen any of his critics say anything good about him in general?

Theres been a few of his critics giving him praise in recent weeks, i can be pretty harsh on him and i've said in here several times that his numbers this season are very good. His form in recent weeks and his stats this season are definitely an improvement. I hope his current upward trajectory continues.

Was just on another thread where some absolute drone said Lingard shouldn't even be the tea boy

Of all the months to have said this, after his hottest run of form ever. I always suspected some posters don't watch the games and have their own agendas.

I didn’t have anyone specific in mind but if you’re willing to re-assess, more power to you. I always think it’s a great quality for anyone to show on here.

Gerrard outscored Scholes in many seasons, that doesn't mean he's a better player. I'm a big Lingard fan but I don't understand why he's being compared to a player like De Bruyne, they're completely different in their position, style and contribution on the pitch.

I'm not comparing, just put that stat out there for some context on Lingard's improving contribution. They are both attacking mids anyways, not like for like yes.

He epitomises what football has sadly become in a lot of ways...but there is just something annoyingly likeable about him when you strip all the nonsense away.

I think he gets a rough ride because of the teenage boy-like social media exploits, stupid celebrations and somewhat gormless interviews, but given that he appears to stay clear of trouble, it’s only fair to judge him on the pitch. By all accounts he’s probably one of our top 5 this season. De Gea, Pogba, Young, Jones, Lingard in terms of consistently good performances.

That’s your top 5 this season? What about Martial, Rashford, Matic? Lingard’s been great at times but no way in a million years would I put him ahead of those 3, probably wouldn’t put Young or Jones ahead of them too.

Maybe De Gea, Pogba, Jones, Matic and Martial for me.

There is lot to like about Lingard.
