Jeremy Menez

He played quite well on the shoulder. Certainly not badly for someone who doesn't play there week after week.

Don't know what this is worth, but I work with a french lad who watches Lique 1 every week. He's watched Menez a lot and says he's part of the great new French hope (along with the likes of Ben Arfa, Benzema, Nasri). He thinks he'd be a great signing for us, but warns that the lad is a total glory hunter - never releases the ball. Maybe something we could weed out of his game. All in all a serious prospect though apparently..........

These so-called skilled wingers have this trait/tendency of hogging the ball, aren't they? In the developmental stage of the player, it is understandable as he wants to hone his skill to perfection, the balance is not to let it becomes detrimental to himself and the team. I hope he does not worship Franco.

He reminds me of Le Tissier (less 20 kgs of course..)

1:25 Messi mark II

Seems to have a bit of Ronaldo's built as well.

Great talent, would be a great signing for us. Wild pace and so good control with the ball. Amazing.

Whenever I have watched Menez I did not like him, little end product and inconsistent. Has great physical attributes though.

There are quite a few situations on that video where Ronnie might have been left sitting on his arse with hands in air appealing to the ref. Does this kid stay on his feet more or is it just this video that gives me that impression since I've never seen him play?

On the first page it says hes in talks with united. is that bollocks, i mean are we in for him or not.
He looks v good.

RED ALERT FOR MENEZ

HARRY REDKNAPP has been told to raise his offer for £12million-rated Monaco ace Jeremy Menez.

The Pompey boss is believed to have bid around £9m, but the French club say they would rather loan him out than sell on the cheap.

Playmaker Menez, 21, was tracked by Manchester United as a teenager although a recurring knee injury severely disrupted his progress.

He is the youngest player to have scored a hat-trick in the French league, netting a treble for Sochaux at 17.

Pompey will wait until Menez recovers fully from close-season groin surgery before a second bid.

Inter Milan and St Etienne are also interested.

Sounds familiar, hey?

Do you mean Ronaldo? If so not really no, Ronaldo was always blessed with skill, pace, quick feet and end product even though it was infrequent, he then became the player he is now in the physical aspect as he progressed. When I said I thought Menez had great physical attributes I meant in terms of strength on the ball and size like Ronaldo has now.

Anyway, to be honest I have seen this kid play a max of ten times in full and highlights and am forming my opinion on that, I dont really go out of my way to watch Monaco games. Maybe I just caught him on the rare occasions he had an inconsistent performance!!

Good to see he's still got the legs after a serious knee-injury as a kid.

Roma sign Monaco forward Menez

AS Roma have announced the signing of forward Jérémy Menez from AS Monaco FC for an initial €10.5m fee.

Four-year deal
The 21-year-old product of FC Sochaux-Montbéliard's youth system has joined the Italian club on a four-year contract, in a transfer that could rise to €12m depending on Roma's UEFA Champions League appearances. Menez leaves Monaco after three seasons at Stade Louis II in which he scored 14 goals in 57 Ligue 1 games.

Hat-trick record
Although he was called up by France in 2008, Menez remains uncapped at senior level. He was, however, part of Les Bleus' UEFA European Under-17 Championship winning team of 2004. The following January, he set a Ligue 1 record by scoring a 12-minute hat-trick for Sochaux against FC Girondins de Bordeaux. Roma, who today named Rossella Sensi – daughter of the late Franco Sensi – as their new president, have also signed John Arne Riise, Simone Loria and Júlio Baptista this summer.

shame that great little prospect was hoping we'd move for him in a couple of years. Fantastic pace and good with the ball at his feet. Shame the injuries hampered him a bit moving to Italy will be a good test for him. I reckon he will be a hit over there

Is he a striker or a winger? We dont need another raw striker, we have two quality ones.

He scored last night but it was gift given by Silva.I think he's a good player but that's it, nothing special about him.Made a mistake of leaving France quickly

Where did he go??? Roma is his first move abroad... his the same age as Nasri and Ben Arfa and a seasoned pro.

But they're not all the same players. The guy was just above average in France and you're that player you do not take risk of going abroad and play for Roma (may not be a huge club but it's a big step up in comparison to Monaco).Ben Harfa is currently a player full of talent but he hasn't used it because he isn't mature enough.
Do not compare Nasri with either of them 2, he was better and more consistent than the 2 of them combined so that's why it's worked well at Arsenal for him. They may have the same age but the situation for each player is very different

Roma Striker Jeremy Menez Hopes For Manchester United Future

Roma's Jeremy Menez eyes Manchester United move...

Roma striker Jeremy Menez wants to win the Scudetto and then head off for a future with Manchester United.

The French hitman is ranging along in the capital, but he has big ambitions in his career.

"We want to win the title," he told Ma Chaine Sport.

Menez has often been forgotten in the capital, but he eyes a different portrait for the future.

"Roma is a hard environment in which to establish yourself, and when I was 15 [Sir Alex] Ferguson wanted me at Manchester United," he added.

"Then we decided it was best if I played for less important clubs.

"In future though I could have another chance with Manchester United."

How's he been doing for Roma this season? Is aw him a bit last season and he played quite well.

Never seen him but I certainly remember us being linked with the lad in the past, I am confused though? Is he a winger or a striker?

Having scouted him on YouTube I can confidently conclude that it will be sensible for United to sign him. They don't call him "Houdini" for nothing you know, or it could be the disappearance acts he keep pulling on the pitch every now and then
