Seems to be a subject of interest over at United's website:

"He is in talks with united, the fee bieng the stumbling block, sir alex thinks anything over 15m is too much for such a raw player, he wants the same sort of deal to go through that he did with sporting to bring ronaldo, a 10m upfront fee with additional payments regarding games/performances!

Id stick my neck out and say interesting news from united in around 2 weeks"

If I'm not mistaken we were once interested in the lad, him wanting to stay in France at that time being the stumbing block. Not heard much of him except maybe that he's one of the biggest talents in France.

We've been heavily linked with him in the past.

Seems like a rather handy player.

Interesting indeed, he seems similar to Ronaldo in many aspects, most notably in stature; they're both quite tall but not thin. He likes to dribble, he's selfish, he likes to cut inside and have a crack at goal. Good in the air. Looked set for Arsenal at one point, and was also linked with Inter. I'd be surprised if we land him.

Doesn’t surprise me. A very good player, linked with him in the past, and has the versatility to play on the wings or as a striker.

My right hand would turn into one big blister if we got him. Brilliant young player with the physique to thrive in England.

i think we were the first english club linked with him, when he was 16 and he didn't want to leave france.

he was supposed to be the golden child of french strikers in that u17 team that included nasri ben arfa and benzema. he has the natural talent to be wonderful, i fully support us trying to get him as i have for a while.

Sounds like BS, unless we are talking about euroes. That would make him cheaper than Ronaldo. Inter offered €10 mill for him earlier. Monaco demanded €15 mill.

we are talking about euro's IIRC. i think with jose at inter, they might not be in for him anymore.

His career since 17 till now has stagnated compared to benzema (menez was rated much higher at 16-17) but i think he has the talent and versatility to be very good. Of course he's a lot cheaper than benzema but the gamble would be worth it IMO.

Most interesting have watched a few games with him ad he a bright little prospect seems to have gone quiet a bit since he burst onto the scene. He is a very talented but "raw" player no doubt he can be turned into a top player great physique pn him seemed small when he first popped up but seems to be stretching out.

Would be worth a wank if we got em

I wouldn't mind him, even if he was our only signing this summer. He's definitely got something special to his game, and as for the stagnation in his development, Fergie's got just the cure.

His not even a Striker anymore... We would have to do a Henry with him!! Unfortunatly i don't think he will ever see out his once bright potential, but in another sense i would luv for SAF to take the gamble! He is naturally more talented than Benzema!

i like menez a lot and have banged on about him in the past but that's a little over the top. getting a solid proper striker that can give us 30+ games of consistency and experience is a top priority. i am sure SAF wouldn't get ONLY menez and then close up shop.

I normally sign him on FM for £10 Million when I am a smaller team then a year later flog him for £20 Million to a big team.

Hope this helps.

Ronaldo may be leaving in two-year time, so you know.

I don't think this is true, but if it was, i think it would spell an end to us lumping Rooney and Tevez on the flanks and playing a 4-3-3 to accomodate this. It might pop up in the latter stages of the Champions League. Having three wingers that can play on either flank would be very useful, and then having Park to fill in where and when required. Ronaldo, Menez and Nani would not be too hard to rotate, but i'm not sure whether Park would be overly pleased after some brilliant performances last season. I'm not sure what this would mean for Giggs, i wasn't totally convinced by his performances on the wing last season, he is versatile enough to play an important role though.

It is all hypothetical.

Would be a great replacement for Ronaldo when he leaves and would be very good back up as a winger, but it just seems like bollocks. It's just a worse version of the Caf's 'Kaka to United' story, much worse. Someone pretending to be ITK.

Whenever I hear the word 'raw' used to describe a player, I automatically replace it with 'shit'.

You'd be surprised how often this analysis turns out to be correct.

I prefer my sirloin medium shit. While watching Eddie Murphy's 'Shit' on DVD.

It does work in some cases, like that Liverpool forum shitK

Sign him or leave the club, Ferguson.

Those who have mentioned he'd be a good replacement for Ronaldo... What if we are planning to have and play both?

Ronaldo back to the leading line striker role he played successfully in Europe for us (And has all the qualities needed for) with Rooney playing in the hole and Menez on the wing - as the starting positions. And then rotating as they did this season - Ronaldo comes wide and Rooney and Menez go central.

He certainly seems to have a lot of potential and yes he does remind of Ronaldo. He'd also fit in with what SAF has said - a young player, but a player with experience.

Risky signing imo, looked like we would get him in 05 and then he just switched French clubs, honestly I think we could do better

Never seen him play, so I can only comment on his Youtube clips (alway a bit dubious about them tho). From what I see he looks good, he seems quick and strong and finishes well with both feet. Very direct.

Anyone out there seen enough of this guy to suggest he'd be good enough for us ?

When was this? He looked lost against Barca playing the center forward role from what I recall. He's best suited out wide where he has room to operate, cut inside and do his damage. He's too easily marked when isolated up front.

Roma.

And being too quiet/out of the game on the wing in some european matches was most likely the reason he was put up front.

Ronaldo against Roma, he scored a goal but to say he played well ignores all the rest of the work a center forward does which he didn't.
