He's been brilliant. I wouldn't be bothered if Rooney left, but I would be gutted if Chicharito did. He clearly loves playing for the club, has a great attitude, and is a damn good player.

Yeah he was awesome today has to be said, gives us an interesting option going forward with him and RVP playing up top with Kagawa playing just off them.

Touch and link up has improved tenfold since he's arrived. Some player.

His attitude is infectious. Clearly loves and respects the history of the club when you see him trying to play in Scholes so many times in the past two games!

Could have had a hattrick! So unselfish with that volley/cross wher ehe tried to tee up Scholes. Should have taken it himself and killed off the match. Little did he know...

Its a shame we didn't win that game because its entirely possible that Hernandez's play will be forgotten now because of that scoreline. Chicharito was massive today, his touch, control, movement...the only thing that was a bit off ironically was his shooting and he still scored.

Chicharito looked to be back to his form in the 2010-11 run in again today, clearly been lifted by getting a starting spot in the last two games. In any other circumstances would probably have got man of the match. Shame.

He was bullish and brilliant at times. Something changed today - he was more of a 'presence' & had the confidence to show that he's no longer merely a poacher. Perhaps he was staking a claim for Rooney's place?

It would be absolute insanity if we let him go. He now has 50 goals for us, how much did we get him for? Plus he's only 24 years old. If he is played regularly throughout the season, he'd get 20+ goals easily.

He'd score more goals, and hence be more influential, than Rooney if he got the same playing time as him.

No doubt someone will tell us at some stage during the summer that Higuain and Benzema are much better than Chico and we should sell him to get one of them...

That's easily the best game he's ever had for us imo. Quite surprisingly, it was his finishing that let him down today! Everything else was just perfect.

Crossing, dribbling, touch, vision - who the hell was that in 14 today?

If that's the post-Rooney Hernandez, absolutely bring it the f*ck on.

Wait, what? That's really impressive  For some reason, I didn't think he was near that given how much he's played.

His general play today was outstanding. Some of his link play was extremely classy and penetrative. Impressed.

In the second half he had a brilliant first touch control of the ball with the outside of his boot.I don't know if many caftards recall that, it was beautiful

Anyone else think this is the best you've ever seen him play?

Not for me but it was another top class performance where everything came together for him. I'm glad he's getting the recognition for the hard work he's put in over these past few years. I knew even when he was struggling last season, he would come back stronger. What a transformation eh? Linking up play, incessantly looking for the ball, making good runs off his teammates and supplying a very good ball for Kagawa. Very pleased and I hope Moyes uses him more this upcoming season. what a player

His weakness was his generall play - which he seems to have improved greatly. Superb player to have and he won us 3 points several times this season

Not only does he work his ass off, he is loyal.

Cannot see him leaving until it's the last chance he can get here.

I'm just hoping he'll fit into Moyes' plans, I can't think of a striker Moyes has managed who is like Hernandez.

There'll be loads, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Hernandez would fit into any sane managers plans. He's a dream player.

Yeah, bodes really well for him becoming a starter next season

Shows the type of lad he is. He's seen RVP arrive and Welbeck come through, and he's knuckled down and set about greatly improving the weaker parts of his game.

Jelevic? He was a goal scorer who's been fairly rubbish this season under Moyes

i just love his enthusiasm and his poaching skills in the penalty box. Is he off to confederations cup ? that means no rest for him this summer again ?

There were plenty of people worried that he was a one season wonder after last season, but he's shown this year he's not. Scored 20 goals in 45 games first season, 12 in 36 last season and now 18 in 36 this season, and the vast majority of those games were sub appearances. Great little player, and his attitude is brilliant. Gives his all and has never complained, and just seems genuinely thankful to be here. Scoring 18 goals as a 3rd choice striker, behind Rooney and Van Persie, is remarkable really.

I hope he stays he for the duration of his career, the only snag is whether he will stay as content with marginal game time.

There were also people worried he'd be just a poacher and that he'd always be a poacher  He's shown with hard work and determination what you can achieve. Nothing I have seen of him has shocked me. I am simply pleased with his progress and am quite confident he will develop into a fine striker if he continues to be viewed as a valuable asset to this club.

If transfermarkt's numbers are correct, Chicha has scored or assisted a goal every 63 minutes in the Premiership this season.

He has the best goals per minute ratio in the history of the Premier League! I am delighted at how much his touch has improved this season. You just know that that has come from him putting hours of practice in on the training ground too.

He is one of the big reasons selling Rooney wouldn't overly concern me. Chicha deserves to be the 2nd main striker behind RvP.

This is why I find it bizarre when our own fans write Hernandez off. Chico's in his mid 20s still developing at a footballer, rival fans always say they'd love to have him, Real Madrid have been sniffing about him for awhile and yet you can go back a few pages of this thread and find people saying he's not United quality.

Chico wouldn't be the first name on the team sheet for one of the strongest footballing sides in the world, Mexico, if he was Darren Bent lite. Hernandez has many a string to his bow and as his confidence levels rise we'll see him play for United more like he does for his country e.g. like in the 2010/11 run in and yesterday.

It's also encouraging that RVP can comfortably play behind him. So he won't necessarily be competing directly with him every single game.

Or next to him like they did when we beat Wigan and Newcastle over the winter.
