yep, he looks much more muscular now than 12 months ago..

hernandez's game is more about a 10 yard dash rather than a 50 yard sprint, but i kind of agree hoping he is not going to lose any of his acceleration and pace just because of this bulking up thing. ronaldo loses some of his foot quickness as he grows bigger but he is much stronger on the ball now.

so maybe getting muscular enables hernandez to become a much more stronger and better all around footballer. by the look of it he is not going to lose any of his predatory instinct too!

he just needs to further improve his link up play, it's one of the areas where Welbeck is better than him IMO!

I'd bet my car he starts against Bolton, just because we'll want to keep our quick passing and moving game going.

The lastest article from SAF made it sound like Berbatov won't play till December.

If it is to be more in line with our quick 1 touch passing, Chicha certainly isn't the better option - Welbeck or Berba are better. Chicha will stretch defenders more though with his movement.

That isn't to say he is poor at the quicker passing game but, his link up / build up play is his weakness right now - improving but, not there yet.

This, I don't like the way he tends to break the ball backwards and stop the momentum of the attack when his back is to goal. There could be space around him and he seems to be unaware time and time again. Try to involve him in link up play and his first touch is always too safe to the point that it messes the attack up. Rooney is the master of the situation I am talking about. He has a way of receiving the pass properly.
I think Hernandez link up play reminds me a little bit of Yorke.

Surely you mean Cole? Yorke always had a bit of magic in his boots. In fact, the one former utd player Hernandez reminds me most of, is Cole. Both were very much 'unrefined finishers' with not much else going for them other than their penalty area specialities. Cole improved his all-round game in the years he spent here, and I've no doubts Hernandez can do the same...

Seriously how accurate is Hernandez?

He's going to absolutely butcher Mexico's goal scoring record. Borgetti has 46 goals.

Chicharito has 22 goals already in 30 games.

Found these highlights of Hernandez vs Poland. Nice to see Chico head the ball as I thought he ducked out of one against Spurs, shows that his head injury has definitely cleared and he's regained his confidence in the air. Not liking the look of the tape on his medial hamstring though. Hope he comes through tonight's friendly against Chile alright.

I was gonna complain about that he never seems to score more than 1 goal in a match:D

Sensational movement for the first goal. Destroyed Cahill there.

Still has a fair amount to learn, apart from his great off the ball movement and finishing. That makes him an even scarier prospect going forward!

This guy is incredible, his energy to keep pressing and making runs up until the closing stages whereas it's 5-0 already. There are many areas he could improve but he is still so efficient in front of goal already

I thought his build up play was great today.

Yup it was very good. He looks more bulked up also. Should've gone for the goal himself in the end though. Unselfish cnut.

It looks to me like he's clearly improved his build up play since last season. He's well on his way to being as complete as he can possibly be. Meanwhile his predatory instincts have returned with a vengeance. He was turning the Bolton defenders inside out with his movement and should have got his deserved hat trick.

Javier van Nistelrito

Give him a 10 year contract and a 300m release clause before Madrid start sniffing about.

build up/hold up play is tough when you're flying by the cb's. all he does is score goals. he's fine as if he gets even better look out.

All this talk about second season syndrome. Nonsense. Did Van Nistlerooy have second season syndrome? People know about him...? Chelsea played against Chico 5 times last year and he scored 3 times. Playing against someone 5 times you have to know about him. They had the tapes they knew what he was gonna do but if you're a top striker it doesn't matter you'll beat your man ask John Terry and Sideshow Bob aka David Luiz. No doubt he'll score even more goals this season with our midfield working as it is and Rooney in top form. By the end of the season the 20 goals he scored last year is gonna seem like small pickings. Hernandez is a 30-40 goal a season striker. Believe that.

great, great movement for the opener

cahill is an excellent defender in very fine form at the moment and he was made to look like a complete carthorse by chico today

i know its a term that gets thrown around alot nowadays but hernandez is, for me, truly world class

Anybody think Berba would have anticipated Nani's cross? I don't think so and most would rather be slating Nani for a shit cross. That was the place to put the ball and a proper striker has a feel for these things.

Good shout. That's what chicarito does best. He anticipates where the ball will be crossed at least a few seconds before it even arrives and then it's down to his movement to take he defenders away.

I'd agree with all of that except the world class statement, however he's not far off it and another good season in the CL will do it for me.

Lets be fair. Rooney himself would have done nothing with Nani' cross. Chricharito showed in getting in our squad only that goal the difference between a natural finisher and other forwards. Only Owen or Macheda could have done anything with it in our entire collection of 7 forwards! :D

Without doubt one of the most clinical finishers in world football atm. He has an amazing vision of the game & on top of that an unreal little grafter, a proper gem of a player.

I think Owen at his best maybe but nobody else and not just in the United squad but in any squad. You just look at the way he twists Cahill inside out and gets him completely off balance before making the run in front of him. Incredible. People really don't appreciate how good Hernandez is. He's the first name on the teamsheet for one of the world's best sides, he should be regarded as world class without a doubt, and by being so sharp he lifts so much pressure off the rest of our side.

We would've beaten Bolton yesterday come what may but by scoring so early it just gave us all the momentum and having someone like Chico in the side means you're always likely to take the lead e.g. vs Chelski after 36 seconds. He gives the team the freedom to play cos they know they can rely on him for goals and that puts the opposition on the back foot. Such an important part of the XI now.

He may've been calling Bolton fans cnut

I really wanted him to get his first hat-trick for us yesterday, but I've no doubt he'll get it sooner rather than later. I don't think he'll have any problems with this 'second season syndrome' thing, he's far too good for that.

His movement for his first goal was absolute first class, he pulled the defender all over the place before nipping in to put the ball into the net.

I hope he can beat his 20 goal tally from last season, I think he will.
