Wouldn't a direct De Gea player swap suit all parties? Assuming there's any credibility to this report.

He’s a quality keeper, and a no-brainer if we were to replace De Gea. Would cost more, but providing De Gea offsets at least 60%-70% of his few, then so what? There is no expectation for him to be free!
I'd still prefer to keep De Gea, although if it's not an option, there's hardly any better replacements out there. It's a bit depressing how people suddenly don't rate De Gea anymore though.

I doubt it's true but Oblak's about as good a replacement as we could dream of, he's a brilliant keeper. Replacing De Gea is going to be a very, very difficult task (despite his poor form last season, he's been our best player for nearly half a decade), Oblak would be a perfect replacement.
Get rid of David too much demand on wages and disgraceful performances which consequently ruined our season. Would sell 70 million to PSG bring in Oblak as replacement.

That will be dream move for us. He is the best out there, and he is younger than De Gea.
Cash in on De Gea and get Oblak. No brainer if De Gea does not renew. He'll be leaving on a free in 2020.

Shouldn't really make much of a difference over DDG. He's not on that list either. Probably because our tactic is to pass back to DDG so he can boot it up field and give possession away to the other team.

Probably cause Griezmann is leaving and he doubts they will fully replace him. He was promised that Atl. Madrid would invest more in players this season after signing a new contract last year.

Really? Just because he had a bad patch of form at the end of the season we're just gonna forget about him single-handedly saving us, time and time again? Where's the loyalty guys? I'd still be doing everything we can to keep him. I think most people would said he was the best goalkeeper in the world at the start of last season, he's been a hero for us and player of the year 4 times.
There's no doubt Oblak is class and of a similar level to De Gea but spunking all that cash on GK is a mistake. I feel like there are more pressing issues to address in the squad (CB, RB and CM). If DDG's not going to renew, we'd be better getting with the times and going for a young keeper who can sweep and play well with his feet and having him compete with Romero for the No. 1 jersey this year and Henderson next season. Perhaps Onana from Ajax would be a good shout..

I'm starting to wonder if it's time to start negotiating wisely. Tell him if he wants to come, he needs to force his way out so we can do a 70-80M deal instead of paying the whole release clause. If he cooperates we place him as N1 and pay him wealthy. Also we will be able to recuperate a decent amount back from selling De Gea even with 1 year contract left.

And those who suddenly don't rate De Gea are most likely of the football manager and FIFA generation where if a player has a little dip in form get rid and sign the next shiny new player, rinse and repeat. I remember Schmeical and VDS both having dips in form and I also remember the shocking keepers we had between the sticks between VDS and Schmeical.
Why do people assume that Atletico would want DDG in a swap deal with Oblak. DDG ain’t worth 120 mill, no keeper in the world is. They would be way better off getting the money and discovering another gem for 10-20 mill. Not to mention the wages DDG would demand. Another bad season and DDG will be seen the way we see Bale - old, overpriced, on huge wages and regressing. Why would Atletico want that?

I think one of De Gea or Oblak is almost certain to end up at PSG this summer to replace Buffon.

It’s not just about people not rating DDG any more. He has rejected our last contract offer and doesn’t look like he will be signing a new one. So essentially we sell him this year for 30-40 mill or lose him for free in one year. Also Oblak is the best possible replacement we can get for DDG, he may not be DDG level but he’s the closest thing to DDG. So now consider these two together - DDG doesn’t want to stay (and has shown signs that he is declining) and his best possible replacement allegedly wants to move and join us this summer ? What’s the best thing for the club to do? I love DDG, but selling DDG and buying Oblak (or anyone who is top quality) is the best move for the club and for me the club comes before any player, no matter how good he has been for us
Well, we would have to offer DDG and cash, obviously. And since he is not signing our offer it might not be about money for him? Will any club offer him more than us?
Or or or... we’ve been watching the (arguably abysmal) performances for the last year and coupled with the fact he very clearly doesn’t want to stay since he’s rejecting contracts offers that make him best paid GK in the world, we’re rationally thinking it’s time to move on.
Maybe you’re the sentimental kinda guy who uses emotions rather logic and it’s not the FIFA generation who got it wrong here. Just saying.
All of the above seems to be based on the presumption we can sell De Gea however the indications are that he has no interest in moving now when he knows he can sign a pre-contract in January and pocket an enormous signing bonus along with a huge wage packet. His intransigence is why the press are now reporting we are offering him a 20 million golden handshake to move now just so we can get a fee for him but if that is the case then the net profit would likely be around 30 million assuming a fee of 50 million which seems the best we could expect right now. 30 million is not getting us Oblak and if we pay what is required then we can forget about upgrading the defence in this window so on the basis we can sell Dave I expect we will be rolling with Romero or taking a punt on potential such as Mike Maignan.

I’d assume PSG would. Like they did with Herrera. I can see them signing him for a small fee / free next year with a huge sign up bonus and huge wages. Also it’s Paris, so I’m sure his gf would approve of it
Oh yeah, that’s nothing new as you very well know. If we sign Oblak and sell DDG to PSG, the first bad game Oblak has, people (including me) will be crying out for DDG
