Jamie Vardy - Manchester United considering move according to The Athletic/Adam Crafton

I don’t really see a problem with this considering we need five or six new players and we can’t get that many long term targets in one window. Having a short term fix for goals is fine, should allow us to focus on other positions and we can return to looking for a striker next summer.

Can't believe so many are ok with this. fecking shambles. 5-6 years ago? Sure why not. But now? How fecking desperate are we? Great planning all around

As a stopgap he'll do fine. As long as the price is OK. He has the hunger and fight that is completely alien to our squad. I'd say outside of FDJ that should be the key requirement for all incoming transfers to root out this loser culture as fast as we can. And try to shift as many as we possibly can before the end of the month. Most definitely including Ronaldo.

Let's buy a striker who thrives on running for long balls even though we want to play a high line under EtH

Vardy, morata, Rabiot and SMS. It's as if we're using scouting reports of 5 years ago

it started off in the Rabiot thread, oh he is better than McT let's buy him

Now it's lets buy Vardy as we have no one as a striker

I can’t remember when the last time I heard him score a goal

So a 35 year old counter attack striker is going to change our fortunes? FFS this joke of a club.

People really need to stop treating the athletic as Gospel. They’re quickly becoming the same gobshite click bait rubbish like all the rest and know if they make up absurd bullshit, the fecking mental side of United’s fan base (read United forum on here) will lap the shit up and pay for the privilege
A publication is only as good as its writers

feck off. We’ve gone from laughing stock, to comedy club to rival fans actually feeling sorry for us. Jamie fecking Vardy.

Man is an absolute legend of the Prem, Rashford should’ve modelled his game on Vardy’s nonstop intensity rather than going in the other direction

I'm convinced this is how we go about our transfers.

half a decade late but we'll take him on a free or cheap. Hasn't scored less than 15 goals since 17-18. Not sure why he's a target though, surely there are better options?

If he's available for less than 10m. I would be on board.

Same here, for a year or two it wont be the worst to have someone able to score some goals, as a backup or at times a regular starter, until we get our real object who we can develop long-term (naively believeing that's gonna happen here).

Best on counters however, not sure he's a Ten Hag posession-fit

If it’s rabiot PLUS FDJ then people are fine with it. If it’s Vardy PLUS an Antony people would be fine with it. We need 5 players - they can’t all be 40m plus.
Ifs

If we playing the if buts and maybe game, then it could maybe just be Vardy and Rabiot

Don't mind this tbh. He's a fast shit and gets stuck in. Would score goals and leave it on the pitch. Not many of our players leave anything on the pitch nowadays

Scouting department coming up with another blinder.
As if opposition fans don’t have grounds to give us enough shit at the moment, let’s bring in a player who’s a Mk1 prick and will be getting, and rightly so, shit for having a cnut of a wife.

Honestly at this point I think those reports are controlled leaks to manage fans expectations. This is why we end up with "Is signing no one better than just signing anyone?" threads and we're happy United pulled the plug on unwanted transfers.
I mean "he's a cnut" has been the key for those players we're allegedly chasing, apart from FDJ saga.
