Lad was 17-18 when it happend. Give the guy a break. DDG stole a donut from a shop in plain sight after he signed for us and turned out well.
It is James Maddison man, he can beat men with consistency, depending on what you mean by consistency.Surprised that so many people seem up for this at £60m. United and signing central slowish players who can't really beat men with consistency has never worked out.
Do people honestly care if he's a bit of a douche?
If he scores goals and makes goals and fights for the team, I honestly don't care about what he's like as a person. Seems to be a good player for Leicester on the pitch and maybe he was a young arrogant kid at Cov n Norwich? He's growing up a bit now.
He's quality but a cnut like every December born, including our own Giggs, Martial, Lingard and Sanchez. I'm scared of adding more of them into the team. Pun intended.
Well they care about Rabiot being a douche.
Giggs is born in November.

I like Maddison but I don’t know if he’s a United player.
A douche to the club, with his entourage sure. But I don't think theres any proof of Maddison doing that, just talking shit to someone doing the same to him and a friend defending himself
I think it’s all a big who arr with both. Do I have a problem with a guy that’s mom messed up his transfers. No! Get a better agent. Telling the French squad he’s not being on standby? No.. he’s a really good player that probably believes in his ability. If you don’t want to pick me I’m going on holiday, I’m not waiting for a hopeful call.
As for Maddison if he is wants to give abit of arrogance when going out, so what to that too.
To be fair, as long as they’re back professionalHe's quality but a cnut like every December born, including our own Giggs, Martial, Lingard and Sanchez. I'm scared of adding more of them into the team. Pun intended.
I think he just means he's possibly not good enough. We can't be signing mediocrity but I think Maddison would be a good signing for us. His record speaks for itself and he's young. The definition of a united player has been changed since the mess created post Fergie. It's not appropriate anymore to be stuck in the past.
He’s a United fan.
@Ekeke will just reply to you here as well.
What I mean is that he can beat men in a central area but he doesn’t leave them for dead and it’s kind of like the way Silva or Mata would beat a player. Which is fine in a possession side but I always feel at United we need more dynamism in our attacking midfielders .. as in even our attacking mids need to have pace or take the game by scruff of the neck off their own back like Rooney in his prime.

Is he going to get a better agent? If we have to work with his mother and someone as grumpy as he seems to be from PSG then its a problem.
If he tells someone who is being a dick to him that he makes more money in a week than he'll make in a month, I dont think thats anything a football club would have conerns about. Its something the average person would do in a shit talking argument if they know they have a higher paying job.
He sacked his mom already. Roy Keane seems a very miserable old man. I don’t think him being grumpy matters.
Tbf a humble guy responds differently. But who cares.. I don’t. Rip up a £50 note if he likes.
Well he doesnt need to leave them for dead because he's one of the best at finding a throughball for attackers in front of him and when that isnt on, he wins lots of freekicks. And he scored the most freekicks of any player in the premier league last season.
His performance last season was very complete in all attacking facets. Leicester are a counter attacking team and he was their main creator. He made lots of chances from set pieces, but also is up there with creating from open play. So he doesnt just open you up with passes, but also crosses for when the passes arent working. And he can score from range from open play, or win a freekick and score from that. His skillset is actually very complete and balanced with more variety than most attacking midfielders who might be slightly better at one aspect, but have weaknesses in others.
For example Bruno Fernandes is more of a goalscorer but he isnt a dribbler
Maddison :
Bruno Fernandes :
Pogba :
Pogba is more of a dribbler than both, but is less successful at it than Maddison. Maddison gives the ball away less and wins more freekicks too
So really the one area in terms of stats that Maddison is behind Pogba and Fernandes is goals. But he makes up for it with being more creative.
And obviously Pogba has a physical side of the game as well which Maddison doesnt have.
'United player' is a bit of a vague term. Maddison is a central attacking midfielder so pace is not the most required requisite for that role. Maddison is probably as good as Silva when it comes to dribbing, he is a better dribbler than Mata has ever been and Mata has been sucessful even in teams that were never possession-based - Chelsea for eg. Maddison's dribbing in tight spaces is good and his turn of pace is very good too. I think he would be a very good fit if we're to deploy a CAM next season.@Ekeke will just reply to you here as well.

Well thats good he got rid of his mum, who is his agent now?
Assists? Dribbling? I think the key question is can he fill Herrera’s vacated position if Pogba stays.
I dont think thats why we're looking at him. Because the answer is hes a completely different type of player
I think we'd be looking at him for a Pogba replacement, whether its longterm and both are here next season or because Pogba is leaving now

Apparently Rodgers has been using him more withdrawn since he’s come in, so maybe so. But for those in he known he’s been on our radar since October and was then mentioned as a Pogba replacement by Mourinho. So these links are probably going back from then. I like the idea at the time, I just don’t want us to get too tied up in this British core stuff. Over the past 10 years most if not all of the Brits have not been if the level required to win titles.
No, a player can be 'good' but just a bad fit for United. It has nothing to do with Fergie, and an 'archaic' interpretation of what it means to be a United player, it is just when we buy these Kagawa/Mata style players, we usually fall flat on our faces because we don't really know what to do with them. If Spurs signed him, or City, or Liverpool - I would trust them to get the best out of a player like him. Us? not so much.
@Ekeke Bruno can play deeper, so he's versatile enough that even if he wasn't working out as a purely attacking mid, he could probably also play as a pure CM - albeit with a more defensive player next to him. He controls a game more. Maddison has to play in that attacking mid role otherwise there isn't a role out there for him which means it is a bigger gamble.
Think this is a smokescreen.
Don’t think they fill the same gap. Maddison has an effect from higher up. I don’t think he could ever occupy the space deeper that tielmans does.would prefer Tielemans and he'll cost less and is younger
Tielemans has been creating chances at a faster rate and through balls too. but his is a smaller sample size. yet Tielmans has been a big talent for years and plays for Belgium. I'd gamble on him preferablyDon’t think they fill the same gap. Maddison has an effect from higher up. I don’t think he could ever occupy the space deeper that tielmans does.
For all I’ve said about him above, I do think he’s an absolutely quality attacking footballer.
Yeah, I really like tielmans. they both play in the same side though, so I don’t think they’re really comparable - maddison that is.Tielemans has been creating chances at a faster rate and through balls too. but his is a smaller sample size. yet Tielmans has been a big talent for years and plays for Belgium. Why would you be so against it? He's a good little player.I seriously hope so.

They both play Pogba's role. The most attacking part of a midfield 3
Maddison would presumably be one of many signings. Again, he wouldn't be the answer to all of our prayers. We're buying for the near future and I fully approve of this.If we are aiming to get into the CL next season, then buying Maddison would do nothing. £60m for a set piece specialist, regardless of how much we need one. Simply
put, he is not what we need, and if we buy him, these rumours of OGS/Woodward/owners prefering English players might be true. Would rather have Odegaard.
Would take Maddison as a squad option for 25m though.
