James Maddison

If you're not willing to pay 100 million for Maguire then I seriously doubt you could afford Maddison without breaking FFP. If I have learnt anything about Leicester in recent years, it's that we only sell players on our terms, we're certainly not a selling club like Southampton. We learnt from allowing Kante to have a minimum fee release clause and now we have banned any contracts from including them, so we can and will ask for admittedly stupid fees for our best players. I'm betting Man United would be doing exactly what we are doing with regards to fees for your best players, and that's the point. We aspire to be one of the big clubs.

Hang on, you made an account just to post this? It’s City who are after Maguire mate, wouldn’t worry too much about us.

People who don't understand FFP really shouldn't go around quoting about it

Different players take difference approaches. If Leicester learned about kantes release clause they will learn the hardship of denying players double and triple wages for 2-3 years soon enough. They have a good win with mahrez but they don't all go like that, even for a big club

You seriously think we’d have a problem with FFP if we bought Maddison? I’ve heard it all now!

Don’t think we’ll buy him anyway, but not for any FFP concerns.

Man utd have record revenues and make more money than any other club. We are pretty much allowed to spend what the hell we like.

You don't actually understand how FFP works do you? It's not transfers in vs transfers out total spend. It's based on legitimate revenue to stop clubs spending beyond their means, and more recently to tackle financial doping. Manchester United are the most commercially successful club in the world, we could literally spend 300million without selling anyone and not "break FFP".

We could probably spend 350 million, not sell anyone and still be within FFP. It goes by revenue and not players in/out.

Great minds:lol:

Its great to aspire to be that and you certainly have bought potential. But unless you can have another season where you go nuts at the top of the league, players are going to move on while you build your way up. The likes of Spurs and Liverpool lost some of their best players on the way to building to where they are now. Why would you be much different even if you do get there in a bunch of years?

I am sure Malcolm (if that is his name) would be delighted by your outlook

But of course, you are completely correct, you have the capacity to spend pretty much as much as you want.

You think Maddison would go for way over 100m?!

Who the hell is malcolm and what are you on about?

I have only seen the videos of Longstaff but from what I have seen i would prefer him to Maddison

Maddison is an above average player. He has been hyped up a lot during this transfer window. I see him as a forward, not a midfielder hence I don’t think you can compare him to Longstaff. He can improve a lot I feel under the guidance of someone like Pep or Poch. Will never be elite/world class but can be very effective. Not sure about Ole’s ability to develop players yet.

Feck me I would love if we "broke FFP" it would mean that the owners actually invested their own fecking money for once instead of using the club as its personally piggy bank. We couldn't "break it" if we tried

he has just typed all that for nothing. He should be ours for 60-65 million and him forcing the move which he will do if we are indeed serious about him.

Personally I think he is the perfect 10 but I don't see how he works with pogba in the team.

He wrote ‘Congratulations brother’ to Wan Bisska wearing the United jersey on Instagram.

I wonder if he’s thinking - I’d love to join him

Just saying, I do think you would be able to get him for £60-65 million, however, I feel like you wouldn't just go straight in at that value and it would end up being dragged out, and even if Maddison kicked up a fuss, he wouldn't get out straight away, it took almost 2 years for Mahrez to get his move, even with him sitting in airports waiting to fly to a club and missing a couple of weeks of games and training after we turned down an offer because it "effected him mentally", you would get Maddison eventually, but not as easily as you think

The club won't sell unless they get the amount of money they want

We lost Kante to a release clause, we sold Drinkwater to Chelsea because it was stupid money for him, Mahrez left after 2 years of moaning and for a record fee, you and City are being put off by how much we want for Maguire, we aren't an easy club to negotiate with.

Well the gods have answered your question haven't they. Madisson can be immense for us. I really hope we can sign him. I'd like to see him over Maguire even, and I think he'd be cheaper

Don't think Leicester would want to sell him, he had a good first season and if he continues to grow he will be worth even more.

Leicester probably want 100m for him if they rate Maguire at 90m.

There's too much money in the PL now so.its becoming harder and harder to sign other teams players.

Imthey could play in a narrow diamond I suppose. You can fit most midfielders into a diamond. Not sure what other two players you use to complement them

I don’t think it’s always that easy to find good fits for the ‘sides’ of the diamond - many good midfielders are ill-suited.

I certainly see Maddison as a no.10, and that’s the only position I would want to see him in in a diamond formation. Based on what some of the posters who have seen Bruno Fernandes have said, it’s the same for him.

Can we just be sent to Serie A in Italy where we can just start swopping players with small fees for fun?

I know right. I miss the days when we used to bully teams and there was nothing they could do about it. Something needs to be done because the league would be nothing without us.

Just kidding...a little.

Looks like he’d fit right in here

Let him stay at Leicester for some more time. If he ia genuinely interested to come, he will wait until we have a realistic valuation in place. May be when his contract is running out.

If he come this year , pressure will be huge to replace Pogba. We need a proper solid midfielder to replace Pogba.
