James Maddison

Feels like Leicester have a better team than us? Just looked at their squad and it’s scary how many of their players I’d have over ours.
They should sack their manager if that's the case. Finished 14 points behind a worse team after all.

Is there any reliable sources with this? Couldn't be bothered checking through everything

Not sure he's worth anywhere near 60 million but we are pretty stupid as a football club so I wouldn't be surprised
Duncan Castles and Jack Pitt-Brooke from the Independent are reporting it.

It's scary you feel that way considering they scored 15 less goals than us, and we've been absolutely abysmal during our winless run.

More balanced, not better though. Also lacking quality in some key areas where they just have potential. Fullbacks they are far better then us, centerbacks they are better, and midfield they are more balanced but nobody is close to Pogba's level. I'd take all 3 of their midfielders from last season at United, but only 2 would start, and 2 of the 3 are also developing and improving. Front 3 they don't really have great options though and they are well behind us, regardless of what people may think about our attack.

I dont think that will stop them. They can sign him on loan with a fee to sign permanently if the two clubs want to do a deal

But yes I forgot Arsenal missed out and there wont be more places despite an English club winning the competition. So maybe 2 clubs, Chelsea and Spurs.

No they can’t.

And your anti-United opinions recently have become insufferable.

Anyone who’s against this hasn’t learned a thing from the last 6 years and has also been paying no attention to Liverpool. This is a great signing if we pull it off.

Why the OP has a tweet of a GK in a Maddison thread? Is this some running joke I'm not aware of

Finally a realistic transfer I can get excited about! Hope this comes off.

Edit: I am talking about the title of the thread not the GK who I know nothing about.

He's playing for Leicester and he's worried about the lack of CL football? Right.

I was really impressed with Maddison this season but if I had to get a player from Leicester, Ndidi would be the one I'd want most.

And some people are moaning because we're potentially signing James because hE PlAyS iN tHe ChAmPiOnShIp.

It’s not about scouting, scouting is a small part of it. Most teams know who these guys are. The main thing is taking a chance on a guy with potential and then actually playing and developing them. Good scouts don’t have some prophetic ability to see that some players will make a huge leap by signing them and players don’t accidentally become good once you sign them. Players with potential can fulfil that potential if you put them in a good system, coach them well and if they have a good attitude.

The impact of scouting is way overrated by fans. You don’t just assemble a team and it all works there’s so much more than that

Decent player but not a signing I think makes sense for us, especially for the money it would take to do it.

How do they keep doing this??

First it was Kante, Mahrez & Vardy
Now it's Maddison, Ndidi & Maguire.

Can we just sign their DOF already?

Buying players who arent hyped up but who they think they can bring to the next level and signing them at a young age. Some will make it, others wont but the ones who do will more than make up for the money on the ones that dont.

Schmeichel - Pereira - Maguire - Evans - Chilwell - Kante - Ndidi - Maddison - Mahrez - Vardy - Gray

would’ve been a very good side had they held onto Kante and Mahrez

its called scouting, rather than just buying the most hyped players going.

Maddison won't be sold only one of our players I can see leaving is Maguire. Rob Dorset on the Sky transfer pod said he thought we would turn down £100m for Maddison

Sounds like more made up nonsense. Leicester don't need to sell any of their best players for £60m. A few more good signings and they could overtake us. They've already got a better defence and midfield.

Doesn't this guy have a real shitty attitude?
Not heard this? Was class for Norwich and kept it going in the Prem. He’s young and hungry and would really be a great addition. (Just seen your other post. Off the stuff pitch like that is completely separate to on the pitch attitude, which is what we have issues with atm)

Again, though, he’s one of those players that I approve of as long as we buy further quality. We can’t just have a window of players like James, Longstaff, and to a lesser extent AWB and Maddison. Need to sign a De Ligt or 2

Struggled when played out wide, impressed playing nr.10. We haven't accomodated Kagawa and Mata, I fear he would be another casualty of our refusal to commit to playing a nr.10.

Pushing those types of players out wide hurts them and hurts the team, no width on the wing they are put.

Hope we stay away and try to find someone who is comfortable out wide.

I like him, not sure just how good he is or potential wise if he can be a truly top player. My thing with the players in your most creative/attacking positions like where he plays, usually includes the #10 and striker, is that they really need to be top, top players if you want to be a top team. You can have players who punch above their weight in some positions and you can "make do" with them for the system, but if you use a creative midfielder/advanced playmaker type, then they probably want them to be truly world class (or close to it) and not simply "good" players. So that'd be my reservation for Maddison, though I havent paid enough attention to really say whether he can reach that really high level or not.

He has 7 assists this season to add to the 7 goals he scored (although I think most of these are penalties)

In terms of the number of chances created this season he is the player who created the most number of chances in the league this season. According to Squawka he's created 81 chances (41 from open play and 40 more from set pieces)

Literally the old liverpool we are now . Buying English players for insane money .

he wasn't our penalty taker, scored one or two at most
