Delighted for him. This is the way a loan needs to start. Sounds like he'll be a fixture.
Hope he nuts Watford when Forest face them on 6/3/21.
Low passing stats for midfielder to be honest.
The game before he completed 26 of 38. Not good numbers. However, they seem very happy with him. Great to see him getting trusted right away and doing well.
Read those. It sounds like he was deployed as the holding midfielder with another new signing to do a lot of hard/dirty work.
not necessary bad numbers. I didn’t watch the games he played. I am just speculating simply. If he put in many risky passes, the number won’t look good.
His Pings are indeed very pleasing. And his shooting is great too.
Passing accuracy means very Little unless you know what kind of passes he makes. Bruno probably has no more than 60-70% accuracy in most games because he tries the killer passes almost every time. He can miss 3 of them and the last leads to a goal or a big chance. Stats look awful but it will win us the game. If Garner constantly tries 40-50 meters passes he will miss quite a few, but he still produces more than if he rolls every pass 5 yards to a teammate and scores 95% in passing accuracy
Seeing as we're not being linked with any DMs it's quite positive to see Garner in his deeper, natural position, always felt one of his strongest skills was his abiltiy to control the tempo of games. From the few games we've seen of him at Forest he looks good on the ball but lacks the physical edge, luckily there's not many better leagues to learn the pysical side of the game than the Championship. The Forest manager seems to be actively encouraging him to act as the deep playmaker, he looks to have been given more responsibility at Forest than at Watford.
From the few games he played for Ole, Garner was not able to impose himself in the game especially the position he plays at is a must. Hopefully after this loan he will come back with the confidence to impose himself. I don't think he needs to be physically stronger but a player to know when to step in attack the opposition and when to attempt in intercepting the ball.
I find with a lot of young players who struggle to impose themselves it's usually due to confidence because it's obviously a huge step up from dominating the U23 league to playing against men, it can take players a few seasons to find their feet but the talent's always there.
Totally agree, but is Garner trying those killer passes? I don't think he's in the mould of Bruno but more of a box to box or CDM.
He's one of the few youth products I've seen in recent years that has the composure to make it to the very top.
Hopefully he can work on his defensive work as well as continuing to develop his attacking game.

At Watford he didn't - but from what I have seen and read from the first matches for Forest, he has made a lot of long-range passes. Almost a quarterback-style of player
He's playing deeper for Forest than at Watford. A fixed 6 with a 6/8 presser next to him. He needs the busy destroyer alongside.
I hope it clicks for him with us as we need a player like him in the squad that can control the tempo of the game.
I could be completely wrong and I’ve only really watched the occasional highlight video while he’s been on loan, but he just doesn’t come across as very physical. Looks extremely slender /stick like.

It's not really his game, although nowhere near the level yet, I'd compare his physical and defensive side of the game to be moulded much like Carricks game. Closing off space and making interceptions rather than being the strong dominant tackler of midfield.
Carrick's always the one mentioned and I think it's the best comparison you could really make in modern football, he'll actually have Carrick at United to mentor him which should be fantastic for his development.
Obviously 2 matches in is very early, but the stats go against the idea that he isnt being a tough tackler. He averages 3.5 tackles per game most in the Forest team and 2.5 times a player goes past him.
At United Fred is at 3.2 and 2.5 so far this season. Obviously against a higher level of player.
So this is the main thing he's doing for them at the moment, breaking up play with some tackles and competing for the ball.
Yeah he'll have Carrick and Fletcher to learn off so his defensive side should come on well

I think couple of years ago or last season he was much more than controlling midfielder. He had such a brilliant shot and scored lot of goals. He can be Carrick type but with goals.
Carrick also had very good shot, shame he barely went for long range goals.

Yeah, he had a lot more license to get forward last season in the U23s. It seemed to be helping his end product out a lot, he got 9 last season which is a good return whichever way you slice it.

This is just small sample, but if he can keep statistics close to above mentioned at the end of season, he will do good job for sure.

It'll be interesting how things develop with him at Forest but I do like Ethan Galbraith too and he could potentially develop into a better player long-term due to the fact he's more mobile and quicker.
It's interesting to see fans opinions on Garner, Levitt and Galbraith. From my point of view, Garner is the most talented player and has the most chances to make it at United. Levitt and Galbraith are good footballers, but don't have the x-factor or mentality to play in the middle of the park for Manchester United. You also get the feeling that Garner is more highly rated by the coaching staff than the other two.
We'll be interesting to see how he develops at Forest. You can see that his body still needs to grow, but that will come over time and the physical Championship will definitely help his development.
It's very hard to predict player projection and I agree it does seem like the club do rate Garner higher than Galbraith and Levitt. But the reason I like Galbraith is due to him being being very mobile and also being a very good footballer technically to boot.
But it's difficult to say if any will make it at United.

I like them as well. My biggest fear, though, is that they (Levitt and Galbraith) are pretty much at the same spot now as they were nearly two years ago. They still lose the ball too easily (even in the U23) and they both still seem too raw for first-team football. I have a feeling that they don't have that grit that Garner has, and therefore I don't think they will make it at United. As you said, it's very difficult to predict. Just a feeling based on my experience.
it’s interesting how at this stage of their development, players can be at a similar level or be considered quite similar by most fans but can be miles apart in 4-5 years time.
One classic example is Ronaldo and Quaresma. The latter had more hype when they were coming and arguably was rated higher by most fans / pundits.

Now that was 45 minutes of my life I will never get back - well slightly less, I started watching after 20 minutes 
He’s doing a good job keeping Wilshere quiet but it’s very difficult for him to get on the ball as Forest don’t seem to have any interest in playing through midfield.

Certainly does not look out of his depth. It will give him the experience he needs.
Well considering the quality of that game - we have U14 players who wouldn't be out of their depth in that game
