Film James Bond: No Time to Die

To be fair, Quantum is just basically the ending of Casino Royale, it's practically one complete storyline and could easily have been just a 3 odd hour movie.

The film is terrible. The editing was awful. The very first scene was a harbinger of things to come. An incoherent mess.

Feck the streaming services, save the cinema!

I for one hope this will mean the cinema coming back with a bang, I go 2-3 times a week and much prefer it to watching films at home, it's not even close.

The recliner seating at Odeon and new updated Showcase venues had given a boost to cinemas and whilst it will take a while to get going again, let's be honest most of the stuff available to stream is rubbish!

If they can have a big relaunch with Bond at the forefront then that's great.
Honestly thought I was the only one who goes to the cinema weekly. My Friend and I go at least once a week. It used to be twice a week.

I think the cinemas have recovered really well.

I go 2/3 times a week, I'm on the Odeon website all the time to see if seats are available for new releases so I can get there on the first day!

Since they re-opened they've been really busy which is great to see.

I really hope there is a lot of life left in cinemas yet, it would be horrible to see everything move over to streaming, it's just not the same watching a film at home.

The new Bond film will be a huge boost, even just the little things like it might attract people who haven't been for ages, who will enjoy the experience and want to go back, or will see a trailer and think I'll come back for that.

I had tickets booked for opening night in April 2020 and I can't believe it's still not out yet!

Yeah you can't beat the cinema. Fair enough for most movies. But watching something like LOTR or Bond, Avengers or any epics on the big screen, you can't beat it.

I love watching Bond in Cinema, but at this point, happy to stream it at home.

Sadly that won't happen due to piracy and they will never make their money back.
Only bond movie Isaw at the cinema was View to a Kill.
I've not really enjoyed any of the Daniel Craig movies, they've all been a bit wanky.

If you're going to any half decent cinema then you won't get anything like a good seat on the day, I've booked for 7pm on the Thursday and all screenings around that time are already filling up fast.

Just got home from watching it.

Wow. Just wow.

Probably the most exciting film I’ve ever seen at the cinema.

I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about the biggest movie event of the year! I CAN’T wait to watch this

Saw it this morning, a good film, slightly longer than it should be mind.

Didn’t feel anything like 167 minutes personally.

Also, there was barely anyone there for the 1pm showing at my cinema, 20 people at most.

Me and my other half plus only another 6 in the screen for an 11.40am showing! I felt there was a lot of padding during the middle of the film, and the ending felt rather rushed. It'll be interesting to see how they move the franchise onwards after this.

So does this mean that the Daniel Craig Bond movies have gone;

Good
Shit
Good
Shit
Good?

So much to say on this film but virtually all of it would have to be spoilered!

I thought it was probably the second best film of the Daniel Craig era after Skyfall.

At 2.43 it's a long film, could have been 20 minutes shorter but I wasn't looking at my watch either.

The ending is fantastic but again, I will have to wait until more people have seen it before I can properly get in to it.

I love Rami Malek and I don't think he did a bad job but I'm not sure he was as natural a baddie as some who have gone before him.

Good performances from the others who are now well nailed in to their roles.

I think a solid 7.5/10 overall.

Great movie to watch in the cinema. Think Craig has been fantastic as bond overall

Thought this was an excellent end to his run which has had three really good movies, Spectre was decent and QoS Is just a blur (I think cos it was shit)

Pretty sure it's the shortest Bond film but it felt like it went on forever.

Seen the film twice now (IMAX and regular screening).

Some general thoughts:
- Probably just under Casino Royale for me, with the hierarchy as Skyfall / Casino Royale / No Time To Die / Spectre / Quantum of Solace (although I do need to watch QoS again as I only ever saw it once, in the cinema, when I got a massive migraine and had to race out about 45 mins in and was found by my friends asleep on a bench outside the cinema!)
- Really a great movie to see at the cinema, a great, globe-trotting entry to the Bond franchise
- It's very much a 'Bond' film for me, with the villain / plot very much taking second-fiddle to character-based look at Bond and his place in the world

Some specific, spoilered, thoughts:
The villain / plot is a weak point for this. I've seen the film twice now and I can't remember Rami Malek's character's name! I don't get (apart from the link with Mr. White killing his family, how he (a) becomes a supervilllain and (b) wants to kill millions of people with this DNA-based super-weapon. I think this has been a weakness in the Daniel Craig series (apart from Skyfall of course), because his character has generally been so strong that they often fell to the background. Christoph Waltz, I feel, in both films he's been in, was completely wasted.

I really liked the introduction and detail with Nomi as the 'new' 007. I liked how she outsmarted Bond at the Spectre party and it took Paloma to rescue the capture of Obruchev. I'm very interested to see where they go with the series as, with Nomi now established, they could easily continue in this 'universe' with her as 007.

I though the score was absolutely tremendous! From the quiet, instrumental rendition of 'No Time To Die' to the big set-piece music, it was top draw. After Madeline and Mathilde get on the boat and he turns away to open the blast doors the music really set me off!

Daniel Craig - take a bow! I thought he was absolutely amazing in this! From the physicality with the fights, to the humour, to the facial expressions (when he told Nomi that Madeline and Mathilde were his quote, "..." then looks back aghast cracked me up both times! I also cried both times when he talks to Madeline about Mathilde and how Madeline, "created the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!" As a man going through IVF with my wife and fighting so desperately to become a parent, it stabbed me in the heart both times!

This is my one big gripe (although also at the same being quite nit-picky) - why did Safin infect Bond in the end? Bond was dying anyway, no doubt about that - the gunshot he had was, to quote Bill the Butcher in Gangs of New York was a 'kill'. Bond was never getting off that island so the infection seemed, to me, as one too many hits to Bond. He new he wasn't seeing the two of them again and so the fact that he couldn't even though he wouldn't just seemed like flogging a dead horse a bit.

I think this is the most tragic Bond there's ever been, and that is a real strength of both the film and the series that Craig has made. His character suffers amazing loss, and his entire life seems to be about the 'what could have been' - the orphan origins being widely used, the relationship with M, Vesper, and now the tragedy that he could have had the ending he always wanted with Madeline and Mathilde, but only got it for a fleeting moment, is brilliant, brilliant character work. It really gave then end of his story a powerful ending, that for all the death and destructions he'd left in his wake (the guns making his DNA in the opening shots being a very nice touch) the overarching emotion of the character was love, and that he got it and was able to have a legacy beyond the '007'. I loved it!

Overall though, despite the gripes in the spoilers, I liked the stuff I liked much more than the stuff I didn't like. A solid 8 - 8.5 / 10.

Haven't seen it but a couple of the ice diving scenes were filmed 500m from where I live. Nothing of note ever happens around these parts so I feel honored

Nice post and bless you with regards to spoiler 4.

I think my hierachy could be similar to you with regards to Craigs movies. Its close between Skyfall/Casino Royale. Need to watch them both gain.

Just came back from seeing. Just fecking brilliant. Really happy it ended well. My only critiques are nit picky but other then that. Brilliant.

Thought it was great. I really didn't notice the run time being so long.

Great film for Daniel Craig to finish off his stint as Bond. The action set pieces were excellent and the score was magnificent.

Jesus, Ana De Armas is perfect.

Yes that was bad writing. Especially how he told him what he'd done.

I am a massive Bond head and I enjoyed it. I have some nitpicks, but none with some of the bigger choices.

I would say if SKYFALL is your fav Craig this will be your new fav.

I still rate CASINO ROYALE as Craig's best.

Craig is wonderful, and is terrific in this.

I have no issue with this. We know Bond has a habit of surviving, even with those gunshots, but the injection gave Bond nothing to fight to survive for. He'd lost his future.

That’s a valid point and I suppose that makes sense. I just think that, from how I was reading the scene, that Bind accepted he was going to die as soon as the doors started closing again. I just thought it was a little on the nose.
