Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

At the moment one of United or Dortmund would lose face with their fans depending on how the deal goes. Of course they can point to external circumstances - COVID (in case of United) or player's desire (in case of Dortmund) but at the moment both of them have backed themselves into a corner by their approach.

Also for Sancho i feel like this is make or break week...if we don't get any positive news I reckon this will be off

We have heard this every Monday

Fans are clinging onto every hope that this transfer will happen. Ed / Ole have both said this market is not easy to buy in, the excuses are out.

Two pages until 1000... haven't brought much to the table yet. But if 1000 pages means it's more likely we'll sign Sancho... consider me bringing something to the table by posting now!

How are they playing?

They are either willing to spend the stupid figures BD want or negotiate it down. It’s ridiculous money for Sancho and I don’t blame them for stalling.

Actually I have zero issue with the price quoted for Sancho. At the beginning of last season, Joao Felix went to Atletico for €126m. Hazard, with a season left on his contract and coming to the end of his peak years, went to Real for a price rising to €146m. Dembele went to Barca after having done far less in club football than Sancho for a price rising to €146m.

Regardless of price, Sancho is a better signing than all of the above. If it wasn't for Covid, we'd be expected to pay €150m+ for him. The price Dortmund quoted was fair and factored in the cost players similar to Sancho have moved on for in recent years, as well as the financial impact on transfers the virus has had.

United are in a place where they either accept this price as fair game, or announce to the world that we simply can't afford it. The latter would be fair if it wasn't for the fact that our direct rivals have forked out considerable amounts on transfers.

I don't think United fans backlash will be strong, it's a lot of money and there's always next year. We don't know when the grounds will be full again and we still have an exciting squad.

Perhaps United could put in a 90 million bid, get rejected and some fans can move on. Really though the fee is agreed then the bid is put in, our offer has been rejected anyway.

I expect some backlash, not just because of the failure to sign Sancho, but more because we would have wasted a window and not strengthened other areas properly, as compared to our direct rivals who are either much better than us or invested properly.

Can't believe people still have hope here... this deal has been off ever since August 10th came and went without any bid. There's literally been no news since that day as well, so its definitely off. Brief period of hope with the briefing to the British reporters, but definitely just a publicity stunt to make it look like we tried, generate clicks and whatever. Dortmund aren't selling once their season starts, and we likely won't be buying anyone else due to "time restrictions " combined with "unrealistic demands". Which is a load of shit. Perfectly fair price for Sancho, Havertz just went for €100m after everything is completed, Sane with 1 year left went for €50m.... Sancho with 3 years left should be the highest transfer spend. Waste of time for us if we never intended to meet the price.

Why are BVB insisting on using middlemen and not using direct communication with United? What is the reason behind it was it ever established? Perhaps that's why it's taking longer than usual. There were earlier tweets that United were frustrated with the lack of pace the deal is progressing. In that case, i wouldn't blame us at all if it's not moving like how we wanted

This one is dead in the water IMO. The issue was always Dortmund and their price

there is no way Dortmund sell now. He will be playing today according to German source kicker.

Once the United fans see him playing, the fall out tomorrow will be crazy.

They did it to ensure that an early, easy deal never materialised. They probably always wanted their own deadline to be breached and the negotiations delayed, in other words they dont want to sell just yet, when there's only one bidder.

We are the one "big" club who can't poach their players. Terrific.

Paying 135M for Dembele sure worked out well for big club Barcelona.

It would be nice if United could do a Bayern and convince Sancho to run down his deal and leave on a free though. That's the other big club that poaches their players.

That is true but we have been linked with Sancho for longer. Correct me if I am wrong but with Maguire it didn't take 2 months to sign him from the first bid that was made.

First bid was rejected at 70m early July I think and he signed in early August, so about a month after the ‘official bid’, but the rumblings were there for a lot longer

Or they are struggling to get Sancho replacement? The rumour was that it was supposed to be Memphis but it seems that nothing has really happened.

Their deadline wasn`t actually a thing if it was we`d have walked the moment it "ended" it was a normal tactic to try to get us to complete the deal quickly to get a replacement but deals of such a magnitude always take time the only real deadline is October 5th. All the reported players they had as replacements are still on the market so as long as we pay up they can and will sell provided Sancho also pushes for a move(Rashica, Boga, Zaha, Memphis whom a deal with Barca is not imminent at all)
And do you really think Utd will go through ALL THAT WORK to agree personal terms for months and months just to all of a sudden say "Yeah we wont bid" of course we`ll launch one my fair guess is this week with our season about to start from there lets judge

I can't be the only one who's not that fussed if we signed Sancho or not?
I mean, I'll be delighted if we got him, but if he's not then I hope United signed another player that could provide cover for Greenwood.

Greenwood shouldn't be starting for us every week, it's that sort of daft mindset is so funny to me.

We've got a glaring hole on the RW and you're not fussed if we leave it again, yeah think you're one of the few who'd feel that way.
