Ya that's totally fair if that's their valuation. Up to us whether to match or walk away. For me the irritation is with how people associated with Dortmund are not keeping it business matter and going about giving comments, being petty and so on. Nobody is telling them that they don't have right to value Sancho at 120M. As a buying club, United will try to negotiate. That's standard practice when deal is so huge.
 
I am just hoping he does a VDB and asks to be left out of the squad on Monday night

Been mentioned that he's likely left out no matter due to just doing internationals and the cup opposition is a minnows team.

Hence why agents were on the nose so much when they emerged, because they are beyond authorities‘ control, in that they can’t be restricted or punished or often, even detected making approaches, touting their client to other clubs. They are at liberty to stir the pot and sound buying clubs out before the existing (selling) club even gets wind of it. It’s only when some feasibility on the player’s behalf is established that the “selling” club gets wind of it and ultimately realises it has already been discussed between buyer and player’s agent. You really think Real haven’t already had discussions re: Pogba with his agent without United’s blessing? Thats the whole point and what gets aggressive agents like Raiola their lovable image. We all know what goes on but just can’t prove it without going into drawn out legalities.

Obviously hoping that it has progressed a bit by then but expect it to go quiet again for a bit now. I would like to believe that Norwegian journo is right about Ole wanting him in place by Palace though

And Dortmund are by no means an irrelevant club. Even you can't seriously believe that, unless you think the only relevant clubs are United, Bayern, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.

Undue arrogance is the hallmark of supporters of big football clubs though. It's going to take at least another decade of United not winning a major title for any modesty to creep into the majority of the fanbase.

They beat Bayern for Reus' signature and the most promising German talent since Franz Beckenbauer, Mario Götze, said in an interview that he could imagine ending his career in Germany. Now they're about to enter the top 10 European clubs regarding revenue. Now it looked like they'd lose Sancho in this window and logically Hoeneß had to taunt them with that, claiming that they'd never become a top club this way. Most Dortmund fans had made their peace with Sancho leaving but were annoyed with United's messing around. Then Zorc and Watzke drew a line and a real spirit emerged. Many Dortmund fans think that they are realistically able to hold on to the current bunch of talents for multiple years. It was a sign that they wouldn't allow top clubs bullying them any longer. Sancho has sort of become the personification of all that.

If they sell Sancho now, it'll not be recognized as a necessary thing but it'll be received as if they trolled their fans on purpose. They would have to bring up a very, very good reason for that. If they just accept the fee that was initially communicated +10m or something like that, this won't go down well. It'll be perceived as confirmation of their "minority complex". Especially now that they know that Sancho is contracted until 2023 and they could still sell them 2022. This will receive a shit storm worse than Götze and Hummels got, only that it is now directed towards the front men of their own club. Watzke and Zorc know this very well, so there would've been absolutely no point in ruling out a Sancho move that strictly if they didn't mean it. They could've just said a standard phrase or something like that and Dortmund fans would've been like "yeah, that's negotiation tactics but realistically there's no way he's staying".

Just a quick point of order... The reason they are close to entering the top 10 of clubs in revenue IS NOT because of commercial revenues, but rather sales of players. Real, Man Utd, Barca are commercial juggernauts that do not have to rely on player sales to make ends meet. Dortmund, on the other hand, sold Dembele for a cool 140m and Aubameyang for 65m, sold off Weigl, Yarmalenko, Pulisic... All of these positive transactions flow to the bottom line. In the meantime, they paid not insignificant transfer fees and high wages for players like Hummels, Brandt, Witsel, Delaney, etc. They've only sold 5m worth of players this summer and have outlays of 50m+

I agree that to go back on their word now would be a huge blow to the fan base. It is certainly plausible that they will end up saying no to Utd. But at some point, they will need to sell some assets to balance the books. COVID hit them worse than other top 10 clubs for sure due to the lack of match day revenue.

Yeh - it's weird because this will be talked about as a summer long saga but it's actually incredibly straighforward despite so many different reports of which 99% are fake (loads claiming there was no issue with player terms and then recently that's been the big issue, just to keep the story alive).

United want Sancho and Dortmund are open to selling him. These are facts. United simply won't match the fee and that's pretty much all there is to it. Most people predict we'll Woody 101 then and just offer it last minute but actually there haven't really been any twists and turns, we're just not paying up.

Personally I'd just prefer the club to announce the lad, give him the #7 and get on with it. Transfer announcements have gotten so cringey, and we've definitely been front and centre of that in recent years. So much happier that our announcements are a little more subdued, and let's face it, it's not really the kind of year you want to shout loud about how you sp*nked away 120million Euros on the transfer of a footballer.

You actually think Utd will go through all this stress and groundwork for months and months and months just to walk away at the very last step involving payment? Utd have known the valuation for months and they know BVB won`t drop it of course they`ll pay and they have the financial capability to do so. Simply a case of the structure whether it will all be guaranteed or if it will have add ons
