Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

I've been through my fair share of sagas. This, so far, is going far more like how Pogba, Maguire went, than Vidal, Dybala, Thiago.

We lost a lot of muppets during the Pogba saga for example too, so losing muppets is no real indication of the credibility of a transfer happening. I think this deal is going to be done eventually and then the story will come out that it wasn't a complicated deal behind the scenes at all.

Once the club want a player (Thiago was vetoed), and the player wants to come (Dybala/Eriksen didn't want to), and there's actually credible links about the transfer (there were barely any real Vidal links), the deal is pretty much a case of shaking hands. All the factors that failed other transfers are very strong in this saga.

He will wear the number 7 shirt.

Apart from the saga and narrative around it which is very similar which is what I pointed out
 
Reports on twitter about him training individually away from the first-team squad.

Probably bogus but who knows?

And I wouldn’t read anything into individual training programmes. A lot of major clubs do personalised training with players dependent on their physical needs

Is there any logic to their 2021 projections? I'd have thought our progress, or lack of, in domestically and in Europe will have a major influence over the cash figures in over a year's time?

The narrative really doesn't mean anything when you're not looking into context. It reminds me of when people were comparing their quotes to the ones about Dembele before he left, and ignoring the fact Dembele was sold for 100+40m price at the end and only after he went missing from training.

Similarly, these 2 deals are different. Sancho costs much more money, and the disagreement is on the way of payment, because United want to pay no less than than 80m upfront with the others being paid on the next 2 summers, while BVB want straight up 90-100m upfront.

Leicester didn't drop their price and got their money at the end, but here the asking price upfront is simply too much for United especially in current circumstances.

The chance of this going through is simply for BVB to decide to lower their demands for what's they're going to be paid this summer, and be content with 80m now with the rest being paid next summers, otherwise can't see it happening by any other means. Can't see us paying them this much now.

Agreed. Club for once making rational decisions. Irrespective of the figure we end up agreeing with BVB is going to be high. We obviously really want him...the player himself will be key in this.

The disagreement regarding Maguire was also on the fee and way of payment. But lets pretend it wasnt

All I did was draw similarities with the fact its been said both players would put in transfer requests and they both didnt/probably wont. It doesnt mean the transfer wont/cant happen or that it will

There is no context for me to look into as I didnt say its indicative of Sancho joining. Simply pointed out it doesnt mean he wont.
 
Apparently Sancho trained with the team first and then went away for individual training. That's what I see on social media.

Him doing individual training is a good sign. Wonder if he was the only one or if there were others.

And we ended up coughing what Leicester wanted. They got their full money, the 80m. They didn't lower the price, we were the ones who ran out of time and decided to splash the cash.

The difference is, this costs much more and the upfront asking price is much higher, not sure how this is harder to get.

To me, that sounds like a possible excuse if a big bid would come in. "We couldn't say no, finances blah blah" and to sign their transfer targets. They are in need of some reinforcements too so I wouldn't say its that far fetched that it may still happen.

All this posturing in the media reeks of them wanting to set the foot down that Sancho to United isn't some type of foregone conclusion and that they set the standards for the deal.

At this point, I just wish it was done, either way, how many more weeks of this being dragged on with being on/off.

All the excitement of the prospective transfer has been milked and now we just want a definitive answer.

Interesting. Clearly wants to move, just doesn't want to go in a fuss. Dortmund is making this hard for him and if they carry on I think he will hand in a transfer request.

The only way we don't sign him this summer is if we don't have the cash.
 
If what Harris said is true, then this could simply be more about money than face for Dortmund. They want him to push for the move probably to give up some money.

He is not going to hand in a transfer request if Manutd don't put a meaningful bid in.
 
Dortmund are shooting themselves in the foot as far as making a profit off their young star, which is the bread and butter of their club. Make no bones about it, they are a selling club who is happy to get an ROI for their players, it's part of their environment. Reyna, Haaland, etc. are next after Sancho. Hakimi, the same thing.

The time to sell Sancho is now for max profit and major cash injections. We all can see that the next domestic season will not have fans. So that's a loss revenue of 17 domestic home matches, x amount of domestic cups, and x amount of CL/EL home matches.

Matchdays are the consistent flow of cash every month. Sponsorship dollars are usually 3 times per year or some quarterly payment cadence, not included year end performance bonuses. Even then, those bonuses could be spread across months or payment installments.

All this to say is that Dortmund will lose Sancho, not if, but when. It'd be a poor financial decision if they let his contract go down another window or year because they will not be able to command a higher fee. They can still be a good team semi-challenging Bayern and finishing in a CL spot without Sancho. They can play hardball all they want, but if this window passes and he's still on their books, good for them and their pride, but bad asset management in terms of revenue at a time and the foreseeable future where having money and cash is extremely, extremely important for football clubs.

Don't know about Hargreaves, but Scholes definitely is a United legend, isn't he? You shouldn't talk like that about such highly decorated ex players, IMO.
