Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

It's heading more in the right direction than not. We've got bloody ages left, and we've seen nothing from most journalists to say this is dead, because it quite clearly isn't.

Yeah, it's definitely not dead. All the smoke from both clubs has just been about posturing. This is about as good as you can get in terms of a deal that makes sense... just need both clubs to agree. It's the perfect time for Dortmund to sell Sancho.

I’m keeping the faith as long as you do!

Since 2016 who have we failed to sign?

Dyabala in the dying hours of a transfer window.
Two teenagers who chose the better option.

Matt Judge has gone out and got the managers selected targets.

While I agree with the general gist of what you are saying, Mourinho, and LVG both seem to suggest that we weren't able to get the first choices they wanted. Having said that, I don't think it's the fault of Matt Judge in any of those cases.

So basically if he joins, regardless of the fee or having no time or money to sign anyone else, would be an unequivocal win?

They'd have to sell Sancho first, and they have not indicated that that's their plan.

Derrr.
Again the whole point with them being linked to Depay is for him to replace Sancho if he is moved on. And no shit they have to sell Sancho first if they are to get Depay.

Gone all quiet now. No (credible) tweets about it today other than a Simon Stone one earlier in the morning
Every journalist is tired of saying the same thing over and over again - talks still ongoing. Player and club have agreed a fee.

Well, obviously. Trouble is they aren't in for Depay because they have an infinitely better player occupying his position in Sancho, who they have categorically stated they do not wish to sell.

Let's deal in the present, eh.

Ye that's fair enough.

I think what i'm trying to disprove is the narrative of Manchester United 'botching' transfer negotiations is lazy, outdated and largely unfounded based on recent dealings. The fact that it comes up so regularly on a United fan forum is very strange.

They already made us well aware a year ago that they would let the player go this summer for the right fee.

They are happy to sell him this summer

I wouldn't expect to hear anything positive for at least a couple of weeks unless Sancho puts in a transfer request. Dortmund aren't going to do an about-face so quickly after their campaign the last two days. They'll at least want to appear like they tried to keep him to appease the fans.

So I've heard. I've also heard they want to keep him for at least another year to challenge Bayern for the title.

We were discussing this earlier, there are so many conflicting reports, making it impossible to distinguish the truth from the lies.

I don't know what to believe anymore. Can you say different?

I think it will get done eventually otherwise Ed knows how embarassing it will be the fall out will be bad from media and fans

To be expected. People only thought something was going to happen soon because of the imaginary deadline. Turns out they knew nothing.

Eh. One thing is obvious in that they do want to sell, just on their terms.

They've even put a price on him!

Fair enough but that was an example. Point remains other teams could potentially find themselves in a position able to afford him, say for example bayern or Chelsea.
I get what you mean, more suitors. But hard to see anyone spending that much money on him tbh.

I, for one, am glad that we couldn't get some of Mourinho's targets.

Don't want to rule anything out but Dortmund has gone very, very far with their statements that he stays for the upcoming season.

Thing is, Dortmund fans really hoped for these news. Now the club has confirmed it and positioned itself quite strongly with all the tweets and statements. If this deal still happens in this window, they'd receive a very, very intense social media backlash from their own supporters to say the least. It would also feed the already existing minority complex towards Bayern after Hoeneß' comments. I actually expect him to stay now.

I mean, why would they position themselves so strictly if they actually intended to sell him? This is way too much for bargaining strategies. They'd lose their whole credibility now, also for upcoming negotiations.

Indeed. They evidently are open to selling him. It's all about the money. If they didn't want to sell there wouldn't be negotiations. The player also clearly wants to go. He'll either leave this summer or the next. That much seems obvious no matter what Dortmund want.

Nah, I'm right.

Good luck with that.
Dybala returned from holidays on the 1st of august, 4 days later we informed everyone that we had dropped our interest in him.

If image rights were a concern, we would've been happy to spend time investigating the various costs, but we didn't.

Stop pretending.

I can assure you that if Sancho wasn't for sale, everyone would've been made well aware.

Don't think they'd have entered negotiations with us if they didn't intend to sell him. To me it seems obvious that both player and club are open to the sale but the Dortmund have a certain valuation of him. That isn't the same as "not for sale". Its just that no other football club agrees with their valuation. Once they agree with a big club especially an English one Sancho wants to join, the move will happen.

I do think they'll be left looking like absolute tools if they sold him in this window but they won't if nobody is interested enough to want to spend the money they are demanding. Maybe they're confident that won't happen this summer and is more likely next year.

How can anyone for a second think Sancho isn't for sale when they've literally put a price on his head and openly spoke about how much it is to buy him. You don't do that if you don't want to sell something. Obviously.

This is exactly what I am thinking. Why would a club come out so hard enforcing the point he is staying for them to sell him in less than 2 months?

If you look at this deal without having a Manutd hat one, it looks like the deal is off. I know alot of Manutd fans will reference the Auby and Dembele, but we are grasping now.

I really wanted this deal done but looks like we will be left dissapointed.

I think that’s the straightforward way of interpreting this - the other is they have put pressure on the player. They can now sell the story that player asked to leave and they had no choice because they didn’t want retain a player who didn’t want to be there.

It’s a PR battle as much as anything else.

Why is everybody taking the "we secretly renew his contract for one extra year" statement as true when is clear as day is bullshit?

You sure that would be legal? Dortmund is a stock company. They're obliged to communicate important events to their shareholders. Had to do so immediately when Bayern signed Götze, exemplarily. If they'd put false information out there, I imagine they could (and will) be sued. I mean, imagine a shareholder buys additional shares because he believes Sancho is going to stay after Zorc's statement. Then the BVB sells him regardless and it is revealed the contract only lasted until 2022.

Europa league isn’t anything to be gloating about though. We are Manchester United. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Borussia Dortmund excited about playing in the Europa League but we are Man United,we are better than that!
There’s nothing wrong with a Europa title, whether it’s EL or CL. A final is always an experience, especially for this young team that haven’t won anything together yet.

So nah, I would rather my team going into a semifinal in the Europa than going to a training camp in Switzerland haven’t won feck all last 8 years (BD).

You could be right of course but the truth is no one knows. Zorc has previous for lying and Dortmund like the social media banter. The window is still young and with very credible journo like Romano and Falk saying this is still on, even after all you speak of, I'm fairly certain the saga has more twists and turns left.
