Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

The mental capacity of that post is lacking as buying clubs look at past deals to guage how much they should pay, especially those that did not work out.

 you’re a comedian. A nonsensical one, but still amusing.

Dembele moved for +£100M and hardly lit the world up on fire. A year later both Coutinho and then Felix moved for +£100M.

Hell, a significant amount of posters on this forum will tell you Pogba’s transfer didn’t work out, I do not share that view, yet transfer fees have only gone up since.

Selling clubs set the valuation. Not buying clubs. Of course buying clubs will try to argue it down, but what’s understood doesn’t have to be explained. If you dropped 5 bags on a player that ends up playing poorly, when you come knock on my door to buy a player that’s among the best performing in the world for their position, I’ll demand 8 bags minimum. This isn’t rocket science.
Sancho is hardly an international at 8 or 9 caps so again 100mil is far too much for him, great talent yes but we should not overpay.

So he’s an international, which he is, but he’s hardly an international?:lol:

Funny tagging like that when you are on the same redcafe peddling your views but open your mind mate and understand if the eventual transfer fee was only down to the selling club then Sancho would have to be the only RW in the world and our club's finance department full of negotiation novices.

You quoted me, unprovoked by the way, to tell me £70M for Sancho is “quite fair”. All I said is that’s not going to fly with all the precedents that have been set in the market.

Clearly, it’s not flying, but you just keep coming back to quote me with more nonsense.

How would he have room to interject on something that had been more or less agreed (as Harris is claiming)? And what would be the logic from his perspective? According to Harris it's about the structure of a 60 million Euro payment after the initial 60 mill so why bother interjecting at the last minute? It makes no sense, except from the perspective of someone trying to cover up that they were premature with their transfer claims.
There would be no logic. Much like there’s no logic in waiting for a release clause to lapse and the pay more for a player. Woodward doesn’t negotiate following logic and this isn’t the first time there have been whispers of Woodward agreeing a deal and then trying to lowball afterwards.

Don't think Zaha is even a remote option, the fact that there's no noise whatsoever from any credible sources about alternative targets, even in other positions provides the last glimmering bit of hope in this mess.

I still wonder why I do this every year? I didn't like it with Sneijder and I don't like it now. And at that point in time we still won titles.

Poor Woodward
Yeah I don't get why Woodward is getting a lot of stick right now. This is really proof that most journos no feck all or atleast know what they are allowed to.
I'm questioning all I thought to be true for the Havertz deal right now. Werner went from being set to join Liverpool to signing for us in 48hrs. Now prolonged ITKs crap spewing whatsoever.

"Let's get the facts straight"
Goes on to post speculation, conjecture and opinion but in bullet-point format.

Not to mention he needs to be absolutely thick to believe the drivel he has posted Multi million pound deal and he is assuming United won't even know the length of Sancho's contract with Dortmund , he seems to be confusing Woodward with himself.

That is what I don´t get about these comparisions. For Dortmund´s officials to backtrack on their comments, there had always been the need of a narrative change to explain it. In all three cited cases the narrative shift was always the player directly or via agents blatantly and agressively forcing a move. Sancho could do this aswell and from where I stand he needs to this for a transfer to happen this Summer after Zorcs clear declarations today.

Dortmund went to great lengths to lower the chances of that happening, though. When I saw how upfront and transparent they were with their demands (which is in stark contrast to their usual transfer dealings) I already had the strong assumption which with the added news of his real contract length has become pretty much a certainty for me: the existence of a gentlement agreement between Sancho and Dortmund. A set of terms under which Sancho was allowed to return to the EPL. An unofficial release clause basically. For this Summer it was 120 Mil. € with the expire date of the start of the proper pre season. That is why the figure floated around so early and never changed in one direction or the other. In making their demands that publically and enter negotiations about payment models and terms they held their end of the bargain. Now they will see if Sancho follows suit.
I’m sure we are willing to meet that price. The problem according to many journalists is, how much up front we are paying rather than yearly instalments.

No doubt, but if there was no intention to pay it in the first place, it raises the question of why this whole saga happened in the first place.

They have been consistent with their demands the whole time.

There is no requirement for a seller to reduce their demands, it may or may not be unrealistic and scare off potential suitors, but I don't think that's that bad a scenario for them currently

The "saga" was driven by attention seekers and liars and of course our resident muppets.

Im not sure it was ever a saga in reality.
We may have made a bid that but that's debatable. Social media liars added plenty of lies and fake news. I mean some of them were saying it was nearly done.

We might get him next season.

Its not happening this year

Let's get the facts straight.
  1. Ed is a headless thicko who didn't even bother knowing the contract details of a player he and his team chased for at least one month. The only thing he can do well is to find sponsorship deals for the club. He is clueless about football-related matters.
  2. Sancho has said nothing in this entire saga with any seriousness. The media kept feeding all of us a lot of bullshit.
  3. Seemingly, Havertz isn't being sold for anything less than 90m, despite the player wanting to leave the club. If rumours can be believed, he has even put up a formal transfer request. Sancho is a better-quality player with a higher ceiling. He is much more marketable in the English Premier League. He hasn't publicly stated anything about wanting to leave Dortmund. He is a year younger than Havertz. Why should he not be worth 120m?
  4. If Sancho has another stellar season in Germany, I don't think we can afford him next season. It will be one of the big two oil clubs, or maybe, Madrid. So the Cafe can keep dreaming like we do best!
  5. I am sure Ed doesn't have a backup plan. Headless thicko. We will run around a few other players for the next month or two and finally end up signing someone mediocre, or just about okay, for a hefty sum. That is so typical.

Regarding point 1. How do you know that?

No need to panic about this one.
If we get him, great. If not, Rashford, Martial and Greenwood have been more than good enough to get the chance to kick on next season.
Get some good cover in for them and we don’t have to worry about paying 100 million or whatever on one player.

This must be one of the dumbest posts I read on the Caf. Congratulations.
Nah. We are pretty rubbish at lots of different things. The last few years have shown that. Signing Sancho wouldn't change the past but it might indicate we're now heading in a better direction.

That being said I couldn't give a toss if it happens or not. As I said in a previous post even if he does sign he'll probably just end up being a let down.

The problem is we're not Bayern, if we were then Dortmund would be happy for us to have him.

So accurate

FFS, just pay the fecking money Ed or if not just move onto our other targets (whoever they are).

Is it possible for us to sign someone just once without a long drawn out saga?

As I’ve said all along, we’ll get him, but it’ll be deadline day & we’ll pay the full asking price. These negotiation tactics will be all for nothing.

Get some good cover in for them and we don’t have to worry about paying 100 million or whatever on one player.

Who is good cover that will cost small money, please no more Dan James types because he is terrible. Players cost shit loads when we are involved, rather pay top whack for proven quality myself.

It's like a primary school in here I don't see why people got caught up in this one as there was zero chance of good old eddy coughing up £90m upfront and up to 30m in add ons,
Get ready for some mediocre signings and more mattress and noodle deals ..... Woody is living the dream

If his contract is indeed until 2023, then we’re not in a strong position to negotiate that price down....

And Romano getting a feckin KEY piece of information wrong (Sancho’s contract) is just swept under the rug for you I guess fella?

Of course he knows the minute by minute updates on the negotiations but they didn’t bother to tell him the length of the contract he’s currently in?? Laughable.

c’mon give it up. My neighbour knows as much as Romano, I told you earlier :D
He didn't get anything wrong. He said personal terms were agreed, he never once mentioned anything about a contract.

Wait a minute, did you actually think a contract is signed before clubs agree a fee?! This is quite hilarious, and would explain why you are so misled!

While not signing Jadon Sancho is a big hit, I don't think it's the biggest.

To me, that would be a hit to the club's reputation and standing. We are known as the club who can use big money and get the very best amongst our younger players in a squad.

We are also known to be able to attract the very best players in thee world.
If Sancho is happy to stay at Dortmund, over Manchester United, the club looks like a laughing stock. Especially given we're also in the Champions League come next season.
Even if he has agreed personal terms, it means nothing, as he sees Dortmund as a viable option for him instead of United.

While there's still a chance, however it may be decreasing, my biggest concern is the clubs constant lack of being able to attract the very best players in Europe anymore.

It actually feels a bit like other clubs like to take the piss out of United and we allow them to.

I’m sure our scouts can find a right winger that can compete with Greenwood without having to shell out 100 million. We’re buggered if not.
We can’t say players cost loads when we’re involved and then hand over incredible money for Sancho, maybe this is one to say no to, to show we won’t just pay the asking price for any player.

Dembele who played 7 times and Felix who played 1 game for their national teams before transfers means they were national team regulars. Sancho was played 8 or 9 games it hardly an international

The guy is a madman

We'll probably go for Josh King, Grealish and some random center back like Pau Torres if we don't get Sancho. Would 100% rather just Sancho, as that would push us up a level vs just staying at a top 4 challenger level with those others.

Now this is the kind of meltdown I think we can all enjoy.

I'm afraid sir if there's any "thicko" it's not Ed.

The fact you didn't know about 2023 doesn't mean Ed didn't.

Do you think the agent wouldn't have mentioned it?

Pfft I’m not sure what to think. I’m not even sure if my opinion has changed much after these comments. Still think it can go either way.

One thing is for sure, I’d absolutely love to know what people that are actually involved in the negotiations are thinking and wether they know what is and isn’t true. A Netflix documentary in the style of Drive to Survive would be immense if it ever happened. Seeing what actually goes into buying/selling a player would open a lot of people’s eyes I’d imagine.
