Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

I fear some of you will never accept the fact the transfer ain't happening no matter what is briefed

Let's see what happens in the next few days

Reminds me of the denial in the Griezmann saga. I do think the circumstances are different here though. Can't put too much blame at the feet of the club, 120m in this market was always going to be a very tough ask. Regardless of whether it was a sensible valuation, which it was imo.

Why? 120m is a made up number. It’s not like a player has an MSRP. They might accept less. Might not. Worth trying. Problem is, they hold all the cards this summer.

If the contract really is extended to 2023, we might consider waiting another season of COVID and see who else turns up next summer. Likely more clubs hurting financially and eager to sell players on.

Thats why I would pay for him now. No point waiting another season. Opportunity cost for this season. Whatever we save by waiting, we could easily recoup by ensuring top 4 when we get him.

Because he has a history of stalling on deals until the last possible minute and then paying over the odds in sheer panic. Your transfer record with him speaks for itself. You are one of the highest spenders in the league and little to show for it.
Woodward doesn't do the negotiations as far as I'm aware.

No manager has ever said differently to what has then happened.

Like Solskjaer insisting Lukaku and Sanchez were still part of it, then bombing them out a few weeks on.
Or Fergie not selling Madrid as much as a "virus", then selling them out best player.
Yes I see your point but this comes after an apparently fixed deadline.

To allow a deadline to pass is one thing, then to make such a strong statement that the player won’t leave just adds another layer to it.

I hope I’m wrong. I think it will take Jadon putting in a transfer request imo.

Why do people just assume Woodward is to blame?
Because Ole succeeded massively by finishing 3rd and earned Champions League football.
Now when it’s Ed’s turn to deliver for Ole, he failed to get Ole’s number one target from as far as last year. How is he not to blame? Isn’t that his job?

You clearly don't remember Di Marzio. He was the messiah and never got anything wrong......until he got lots wrong.

I think a lot of their work is guess work. Romano has said we will get him if we pay the fee. Wow! What a revelation that is. How on earth did he get such a scoop? Hahahaha
No idea what you’re banging on about

I can't see how we would be unaware of the 1 year extension.
Of course we were not. But unlike ITKs the club does not post on Twitter about these things.

I believe this complicates things. I thought that it will definitely happen cause BVB can not afford having him with only 1 year of contract next summer, but it looks that they were in a much better position than we thought (and why this is taking longer). I don’t think that there is off though, if that happens we will hear from the usual journos who get briefed in these circumstances.

Yep, look at what barca are doing with garcia. Pique all over again.

The difference is, we tried to do things the right way, as reports point out, we were willing to pay the £120m but in instalments however; BVB do not want to negotiate, so why not?

Well that’s the they need to sell this summer they won’t get the same amount next summer line done with.

Zorc as predicted, talked cryptic bollocks. Of course they plan on having Jadon in the team, until the right offer comes. He has not said Jadon is not for sale (which the club had said about Dembele, Aubameyang who ended up going anyway). If anything its an even softer stance, so this as predicted, was nothing but club politics.
He said the player doesn’t leave and that he will play at Dortmund next year. He even said himself that he can’t be much clearer than that.

Sure he could still sell but let’s see. So far Romano stays firmly on my bullsh*t list.

The funniest thing in this thread is everyone says let's see what happens in the next few days. Those next few days never come.

No, he doesn't. One more myth created by media/twitter.

the german media who were talking about the deadline were all saying negotiatons will continue this morning. the deadline was simply just a negotiation tactic, not a real thing.

Quite literally done it with us before

He wasn't going to come until Raiola started kicking chairs at people. Same with Dembele when he said they were staying. Auba pushed through a move too iirc. Do you genuinely see Sancho doing that? He doesn't seem to be too bothered sticking around a little longer.

No, he doesn't negotiate our transfers. He delegated that years ago.

Well that’s the they need to sell this summer they won’t get the same amount next summer line done with.
Yeah they got me with that extension. We need to just pay up now and get him bedded in, if they'll negotiate with us.

I'd be very, very surprised if Sancho hands in a transfer request, I don't buy into that.

Calm down fellow muppets, this is still on, Ed will panic buy like the idiots did for pasta & bog roll at the start of lockdown.

In all fairness Dortmund have been saying all long, pay up or we don't sell, this isn't any difference, it's business & money talks.

Until Utd come out & say they categorically aren't buying him, i'm still invested, game on!
And we know from past transfers (Griezmann, Dybala etc) that United will come out and brief that theyre cooling their interest in a player when the deal is off or totally unobtainable.

The fact that nothing has come out from United stating that, tells me that were still confident and that United see all this from Dortmund for exactly what it is - a show of strength. Doesn't matter what's said in the public eye, there will be LOADS going on behind closed doors that we will never likely hear about until the transfer is done or falls through

they surely have put in a buyout clause for next summer, otherwise why not go public with the contract extension? Would also explain why they "only" want €120m this summer, despite him being under contract for 3 more years.

in the article:
"According to Information of R N Sancho's contract does not include a release clause"

Sancho would have so many more options available to him next summer so i'm not sure he'd mind staying for another season. Liverpool and Bayern could both be in for him next summer, especially Bayern if they end up missing out on Havertz.

I reckon he 10th Aug deadline blew up in their face so this is them stopping any "well, we thought you was doubling his salary" chat. Now they can say that they already extended his deal.

Regardless, even if he is contracted until 2023, we would know and we would be negotiating on that basis.
Good point. Not took much notice of this until recently but it just seems like they will continue to play hardball for a bigger chunk of money up front.

Liverpool can’t even get a deal for Jamal Lewis over the line. Bayern won’t pay 100m

It’s a bit weird how nobody knew about that extension right? Surely anyone who wants to sign him knows about it. They will get the money they want for him there’s no point trying to bargain with that extension.

It sounds like total bullshit to me.

If thats what he thinks then he shouldn't have extended at all, and would've been keeping an eye on running out his contract so he'd have even more options. I just can't imagine he'd be thrilled about staying on for another year when guys like Havertz and Werner are moving the other way.

Let's be honest with ourselves, he's just too expensive. Covid was always going to have an impact on how much money we were likely to spend and we already spent a large chunk of the budget on Fernandes back in Jan. We should now go look for a couple of bargain pickups to fill some gaps in our squad, but this is Woodward we're talking about so we probably won't.

If Covid hits again hard, as many expect it to, then finances will be hit even harder and its likely that he'd go for less than were offering Dortmund now. I think Dortmund know this, and whilst trying to show strength, they'll be working hard to find an agreement with us. Thats my opinion
