Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Unless anyone thinks that Sancho and his agent were unaware of when his contract runs to, this isn’t new information for United/Woody.

We were supposedly going to spend 100 million but didn’t know when his contract expires? Typical United.
Of course the club knew. Don't be daft.

You think Dortmund would've announced it in a public presser before telling the club they're negotiating with?

Was this a ‘secret’ like the tweets are suggesting? I remember seeing this pop up. It’s from ‘last summer’ too. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49420133
It`s about the length. Everyone assumed that his contract runs until 2022, which would mean that after this summer window Dortmund would face a huge devaluation of his transfer price next year with just one year left. But now that its 2023, they really hold all the cards.

Dortmund have done us there with the extension, we have no option now but to pay what they want, that's if they'll still negotiate. Brilliant work by Dortmund it has to be said, they covered themselves well, they could well end up with the bidding war they want next summer.
But I don’t understand how United wouldn’t of known that? I guess they did, played chicken and lost.

To the people saying Sancho's contract being extended until 2023 is fake news and just a tactic by Dortmund......It's not really something you can lie about.

What I don't get is, all United had to do is ask Sancho's agent when his contract finishes, months ago. Which im sure they must have, surely?

So has Sancho's agent lied to United? Have United not asked? Why would Sancho/his agent try and help Dortmund take United to the cleaners in a move HE wants?

It's take a crazy twist that makes no sense.

I heard from a lady down the road at the local chinese that he had extended his contract at a rave party over the weekend. Witnesses said as he was signing on the dotted line he was playing with his nipples and doing an Alan Partridge impression. This ties in with the video of Ole also tweaking his nips released yesterday. There is a buy out clause of 300m and a doner kebab in the contract

That precedent does not matter as those transfers have not got to plan due to injuries or lack of form and Corona is a factor. In any case both of those players were national team regulars before they made their moves so 70mil is fair for Sancho with or without players included.

What? You think a precedent is only valid if a transfer goes “according to plan”? That about the dumbest thing I’ve read today. In fact, other clubs paying so much for players who have underperformed is likely justification for Dortmund to bump up Sancho’s fee even more.

Sancho is an England international so your point about international caps is also moot.

United is not getting Sancho for £70M. Clermontois on Redcafe.net thinking that’s a fair valuation won’t change the fact the selling club thinks otherwise, and with many reasons as to why.

Sancho's easily worth the price Dortmund are asking for, pandemic or not, time to give up on the haggling. If we can't afford him then fair dos.

To be honest, the fee BVB received was insane.
€105 million plus a reported €40 million add-ons, no one would reject that.

Exactly. Why are fans getting all excited bringing back tweets from Dembele?

Isnt it clear with Sancho? Pay 120m and you can sign him. Simple.

There will be no negotiations.

They sold Dembele because Barca gave the money they wanted.

Why would Dortmund only announce something now which would aid them in negotiations that have been going on for weeks? It's not Yugioh, they don't need to set trap cards.

Obviously United would have known beforehand

He isn't going to lie because the truth is easy to obtain from Sancho's camp. What's more confusing is we will already know this and therefore never expected that he'd be cheaper next year. So what our bargaining position is, other than "we're skint because of Covid", nobody knows.
Exactly, either they lied or we knew already. I find it impossible to think that we wouldn't know that information already from Sancho's side.

£120m is still a huge fee, Dortmund won't get that elsewhere so they're trying to keep their poker face and hope we are desperate enough to pay the full fee.

It really is a matter of who blinks first - I suspect we will but then again Woodward will probably be too prideful like with Bruno.

Pretty sure United would have been aware of this contract extension, if that ever happened. There is no way United would have agreed personal terms with Sancho, if Romano is to be believed, without knowing about this. Reckon this is BVB’s ploy to make us pay up.

I think we'll still get him but it's a long way off, end of the week at least. If it was happening tomorrow, he would not have gone back to training camp today. Still plenty of time though. Window is open until October 5th. It's August 10th. That's 56 days muppets.

A back up for Mason?
Yep. Its the rotating options thats the problem for us. Im all for signing Sancho but only if he were available. Its like sqeezing blood from a stone with this lot.
There are easier deals to make

Sancho's easily worth the price Dortmund are asking for, pandemic or not, time to give up on the haggling. If we can't afford him then fair dos.

Of course he is. He's a premium asset in world football, the current situation doesn't alter his price. Have Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche etc dropped their prices because of Covid? Probably not.... although I could be wrong, I suppose and this whole point is bollocks.

Why would Dortmund only announce something now which would aim them in negotiations that have been going on for weeks? It's not Yugioh, they don't need to set trap cards.

Exactly. Did he actually say they 'secretly' extended it as well? That BBC article says it was pretty much made public so it's all a loaf of rubbish really.

Well played mate!

Honestly, I'd be taking this much worse if we were still relying on Dan James at wide right. Greenwood's emergence as an inside forward who could be on Mo Salah, Kylian Mbappe level cushions the blow.

Dortmund have put their cards on the table: They want their asking price or they won't allow Sancho to leave. Fair enough. We wouldn't let another club take our best players for peanuts either.

Lets see what happens next. Sancho would be a superb signing cos he can play wide or at #10, which means you can rotate him and any of the front four including Bruno. If we can't get him then we need to get someone else who can play similarly or go for two different players.

Not gonna lie now I don't feel so confident because can't see Jadon being willing to push for the move.

Would be very surprised if Utd are still feeling relaxed about the situation after hearing what Zorc had to say.

Question: Why is the player requesting a transfer a big deal? Wouldn't all players do it if they wanted a move?

Is it because they then lose out on a loyalty bonus? Whereas if they get sold without requesting it they still get the bonus?

I wouldn't read anything into what he's saying. If the player is still at your club then you're going to plan the season with them in it. We said the same with Stones all summer in the season that City bought him. We were planning the season with him and then City made a record bid and we sold him. If you do the same here (Or offer an enormous fee in the 100m range) it will be a done deal.

So we've clearly been in contact with his agent and him to agree personal terms.. But there are people suggesting that the club didn't know when his contract expired?

Of course the club knew. Don't be daft.

It’s a PR masterclass tbf. Of course we — the Club — knew, but to the general public and the media who feed into the narrative it paints Dortmund as this negotiating behemoth and Manchester United and Ed Woodward as rich dumb dumbs!

Not gonna lie now I don't feel so confident because can't see Jadon being willing to push for the move.

We’ll have known fully about this. Do you really think this is the first time we would have heard about it? We need to see what the response is from our side. If it’s over then expect a media briefing from Woodward before the end of the day, we need to move on to other targets.
