If the deal was dead, United would brief immediately.
Why Sancho’s agent would send info to some third tier journo like Romano? It makes as much sense as deciding to post that info on the car.
I admit that at times they might know something, but for the majority of transfers they are simply guessing. The smart ones like Romano do not commit that often, and are ‘yeah, they are negotiating etc’.

You know people are allowed to get a Transfer wrong at some point? There have been transfers in the past that have been dead certs which then fall through for a multiple of reasons.

Yea they've issued numerous public denials during all of their most recent high profile big money sales up until they receive an offer they deem reasonable.
This whole deadline business little over a week and a half into our transfer window smells of them trying to control the narrative and not come across as the selling club that they are.

I agree with this. At the moment neither side is going to back down. We can’t meet the asking price as it makes us look weak again after a strong briefing saying we wouldn’t and they’ve been adamant no discount and no sale after 10th August. The only thing that changes all this is Sancho forcing a move through. And I just think with the briefings about how he’s super happy to stay, that they expect him on the plane and how he’s so professional, and now the news of a statement tomorrow announcing he’s not being sold it’s like they’re trying to bait Sancho into doing something.
This is exactly what I'm getting at, and why I argued earlier in this thread that believing half of these journo's is akin to believing the ITK's on reddit. They. know. nothing. Imo.

I'm fairly certain United wouldn't waste their time pursuing a player that they know theyre not going to get. We'd have briefed for sure that were moving on and no longer looking at Sancho.
I know Woody is a bad negotiator, but he's definitely more for saving face, which if this deal fails for any reason, he'd brief before Dortmund even had chance to put together any comment.
If this deal doesn't happen I'm officially done as a muppet, broken forever and will start hanging with a group of nuns instead.

TBF, I may be wrong, but I don't think Romano has ever gone into detail in regards to the fees being discussed. His stance has been quite consistent throughout, that it's a big transfer, which is 100m+ and both the clubs are in talks in regards to the details.
Have to agree with this, something seems off with this deal, there was hope from my part a fee would be agreed, but I had a feeling neither teams would budge. Covid 19, big fee, stubborness, other targets in mind etc etc a long list that easily could kill this deal at anytime. It's frustrating but realistic to think we may go another year without a RW

As long as Sancho tells BVB that he is not signing a contract, the deal will be done. Next year he would be 6 months from being able to negotiate a free transfer, and BVB is not going to risk it. Especially not with the pandemic with every club losing money, I cannot see them deciding to keep Sancho which would cost them 50m. They screwed it up with Lewandovski once, not making the same mistake again.
It might go for ages though with both clubs trying to negotiate better terms. But it will inevitably happen.

I find it very unlikely they'd come out to deny he's leaving, only for them to still be content with him leaving. They've spent this whole summer trying to look like they 'won' and that they weren't pushovers, especially with the recent comments Bayern made about them. They would look weak as feck to come out and publically, in a presser, say he wasn't leaving, only for him to leave. I don't see it happening if that's the results of the announcement imo.

Almost certain they're trying to put on the look of being a strong club that won't get bullied after Bayern officials and legends took repeated public shots at them about being a selling club basically earlier this month.

I’m not so sure. The best thing Ed and co could do for the next few deals is be decisive. Get in pay the money and get a fecking class player And get out. It’s not a lot of money over 5 years for a club of our size even taking covid into consideration. Why do we always have to try and look too clever. Just do the fecking deal.
