Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

You’re missing the point. I’m not disputing the fact that systems springboard players. But it’s quite clearly an inherent level of ability to get 12 goals and 14 assists in 32 matches at the age of 18.

If it was simply systems, we’d have more and more players doing that. The “system” didn’t change to make Mason Greenwood score 14 more goals than Dan James from the same position and about the same number of matches. That’s innate talent.

EDIT: @Fortitude has basically explained the point in much more depth and comprehension.
Yes, we agree. Just wanted to point out that you need to set it up poperly and fitting to the personal skills of a player so the player can shine. Sanchos decision making is indeed great, especially in the final third and when you assure that you keep the pace of the game high, and especially when consider how old he is. But of course its always possible to feck things up by doing mistakes and errors in coaching and preparing for certain opponents. Sancho still got to learn a lot, its not like with him everything is only gold and he will solve every problem on his own. I can get the euphoria in here, for a reason, but maybe its time to talk about him a little bit more balanced and objective. He still needs to have vision if the opponent got the ball, he needs to adapt timing better in a phase of pressing, he needs to see the danger for a conceding goal earlier and travel back with more effort (like when the opponent got the ball in his first third, or the midfield, or lets say if he looses the ball and expose his own team), a thing Marco Reus for example is great in. He needs to adapt better and learn how to behave if the opponent lets you run free into their final third but then plarking the bus so that there is no space for pace.
He has a natural talent for the mentioned situations in the final third mentioned above, thats true. But there are still a lot of thing he could learn, things he could see better, or where he needs to get more complete. The talent, the pace, and the technic is there, but there is still a lot to learn. He is capable of doing that, no doubt, but it will take some good coaching and tactical advises so that the can raise from a natural talented streetfootballer into a true worldbeater.

I honestly remember this guy being quite likeable, did something happen?

Maybe he just likes being kind to the club that the forum he's on is dedicated to in order to feel liked?

Weird one.
Yeah he was alright on certain topics - even general Barca chat. But when it came to St. Pep - he was next level whacko - hence him posting on Bluemoon i guess

Advanced negotiations mean that Woodward has informed them that he likes two sugars with his coffee and only eats regular digestives over a zoom call.

Ginger Nut's would give off a better impression, surely.

Digestives are so boring.

A lot of media sources are saying it's almost done, only a matter of agreeing a fee with Dortmund.
Fee is agreed. Structure of the fee is also agreed according to a lot of reports. Personal contract is also agreed according to most reports.

It's "done", just dotting the i's and crossing the t's left.

Actually thought Fjortoft came across reasonably well when he spoke to Goldbridge.
Me too. I think some might not be happy with how sure he was that Haaland was Dortmund bound. That's my only guess anyway. He comes across fine in interviews.

He made a brilliant point in the interview, saying even when you buy a house there is lawyers, fees and agreements, deadlines and government approval for extensions, taxes etc. So when you spend 120m on a player from another country in Football, its not straight forward so there are a lot of steps in between to wrap up large purchases. People need to understand that.

He is what to another United poster here is to Poch. They really need help with such serious infatuations to an individual

Ill have you know @Amadaeus has transcended to a football God, so have some respect for him otherwise he will slam you down with another Amadaeus moment!

If and God forbid Sancho does a Depay, I will go to Old Trafford and burn all number 7 shirts in the store.
You'd better do a Bruno you fecker.

Ha ha, I love this rant but perhaps it's because I feel exactly the same way.

What is important is that his talent and creativity will likely not be wasted. He will be surrounded by other very creative players with vision and mobility both in attack and midfield, not by Lukaku et al.
Sancho should theoretically bring the best out of the others as they have someone daring them to play their most bold one and two touch and someone always available in passing chains and combination play, not only that, he's selfless and will have no hesitation in playing them through on goal, which should instinctively get them running into space and begging to be played through.

Sancho's style of play has him as a natural and organic conduit for others to use - it will be interesting to see who of our players has the most touches and passes next season - and because the ball sticks to him, players know they can make probing runs beyond him in anticipation of the ball coming back to them. We don't have much of that in our play at the moment because we don't have ball-carriers/dribblers (which is part of the reason Grealish is on our radar, imo) who can be relied upon to actively bring others into plays via their running with the ball.

In relation to your point, I think there are so many things he brings to the table in one package that make him an exciting signing not only as an individual, but also for the team-mates who will get to approach attacking with a different frame of mind to what they've become accustomed to.
Very good post, sir!
Exciting times. I don't muppet often these days (Vidal and Thiago sagas broke me. :( ) but signings like this really are special and I can barely believe there are posters in here who have a downer on the player given he's the type who can genuinely take our attack and midfield to the next level of expression and boldness in what they'll try out there on the pitch.

As fans, we should be in for a treat and a really exciting season!
Thank you for the break down on Sancho and now I’m really excited.

Agreed regarding AWB! Teams are doing it already, letting the ball go to him unmarked and saying ‘what can you do?’
I don't particularly like creating mental straw-men and then worrying about them, but with Bissaka, I think it's just obvious that his technical level, even now, is below par, so when you add someone who is going to involve him a lot of the time, and want the ball relayed back to him in the space he's just worked hard to get into, Bissaka is going to immediately be placed in sink or swim situations where he either goes for it (either flubbing it and breaking the play down, or completes it) or shies away.

The additional challenge he faces is that those passages of play are perpetual and he will have to move again within that chain, making himself available once more or having a sense of where he needs to then go to to make the most effective use of himself. It's a massive elevation and requirement, far more than simply getting up the line on the overlap.

Bissaka can legitimately become a devastating player for us off the back of Sancho's work and the opportunities it will present for Bissaka to use the ball in open space. I hope that happens rather than him shelling up and losing confidence, which is a common theme when a player can't meet the bar of more able team-mates (hiding, not showing or wanting for the ball etc.)

The poster referenced it himself, in this very thread iirc

If only i must a good enough poster to reference an "ish moment". All I am known for is Lights on for Luke.
He also said he has transcended to a football god a few posts later... take that for what you will.

Yeah that was a definitely a good point. We could be anywhere from structuring how we will pay and agreed some of money to ironing out the formalities. To me that’s what advanced negotiations mean. I’m confident this deal will be announced as done at least by Fjortoft, Romano, Falk or someone reliable in the next couple of days.

David May and Fjortoft posting not so cryptic messages leads me to believe that we’re very close to wrapping this up.

I can only watch once the deal is over the line and 100% sealed.

I watched a Thiago comp in 2013 and it broke my muppet heart. I can't do that again.

From the clips he doesn't seem to have a "fixed" position. I know many of us are crying out for a RW but with the way Ole wants the forwards to Interchange I expect he'll start from the right but will drift.

Anyone know he's starting position stats for Dortmund?

MUTV normally like to announce big deals on a Friday /Saturday don’t they?

He and we have very different definitions of what one of those moments are.

This is a good post and I agree with you: I'm only talking about the positive to our attack because it's genuinely exciting to be bringing in the type of player who can unlock so much for us in an offensive capacity, but there are certainly things he needs to learn and develop in his game, particularly defensively and in the opposition's build-up. I'm in two minds about the game when it's getting away from him/his team because of how it only takes an instant for that to be turned around (and that's what is relied upon in players like him), but overall, thinking he's just the complete article at his age would be downright naive.

Still his positives massively outweigh the negatives and if we can put the teams to the sword that we're downright better than, it'll be worth 15pts+ to us next season - Ole is actually very good in the big games, and it could well be Sancho fitting to his program and tactical instructions there, so interestingly, not the biggest of things I would worry about.

This still amuses me more than it should.

I want to trust you, Ed. I really do. I wish we could turn back the clock to the early days when I was young and optimistic about our life together, but I can't. You've let me down so many times that I just don't believe you any more. This is your last chance or I'm taking the kids and walking away from our life together.
Wait till you find out that "my friend has emotional issues and I went to console her" is code for "I went to visit my other boyfriend".

Then you give this asshole partner another chance and they proceed to break your heart once again. So you end things. Then you find out about the pregnancy and you get your hopes up about junior on the way.

Turns out junior isn't yours after all which absolutely shatters your world more than anything.

Now all you got is caftards and muppets.

Announce Sancho.
