Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

he's credible because he works for the BBC and will only tweet unless it's 100% guaranteed - but it doesn't really mean much to us as he will literally deny anything until it's confirmed. Similarly to he Maguire deal everybody said "yes" and he said no until United confirmed it.

He's basically the final confirmation but won't give us any hints that a deal is in the works.
Yeah but it's usually when everyone already knows the deal is done due others more willing to put their neck on the line and known to get it right in such situations. It's like BBC in general I think? They're just a final and formal seal on confirming what everybody already knows.

And here comes the non committal stances from English media.

Every tweet or report is the same.

"He's a good player. It's a lot of money. United obviously don't want to pay too much. It might happen or it might not. We'll see."

That's basically it.

The talk about staggering payments over a few seasons leads me to believe that this will happen. There's no way we'll pay much more than £80million up front. I really can't see the club parting with the full (reported) £120million in one go, so staggering it might work out well for all parties. Just hope that it doesn't drag on too much longer. Hope that we can hear something concrete this week.

That Stone tweet isn't even worth mentioning. It's just a thought of his, an opinion, it carries about as much weight as a random opinion on here. Not saying he's always shite, he's not at all.

I would rather trust the German sources than the English ones. We have kept pretty tight lipped over our deals in recent years so i don't expect much from the English journos unless it's official confirmation. It's the German journos we should be keeping an eye on such as Falk and of course Fabrizio

we're not even getting rinsed at €120m, he's worth every penny. Without Covid, they could easily get €150m for him.

Exactly. The drip drip and leaks are coming from the German end and the foreign sources.

Cant wait for this to actually happen now 70mil up front plus installments is a very fair deal official bid to go in tonight or tomorrow morning is my guess

Yeah exactly. Don't expect Stone to say anything worthwhile until the deal is done basically.

He will either deny it until it's "official" or just tell us what the club are telling him, essentially nothing helpful to muppets.

You mean: lazy, casual, can't be arsed to be here, bad attitude, fails to deliver, sloppy, thinks he's bigger than the club...etc

These have been some of the judgements I've read on here! :wenger:

Just hope we're patient with him!

Exactly. Not just the fans but (and especially the pundits). However I doubt that the likes of Gaz would expect such high standards from Jadon. There's something in him that will tickle their fancy. ;)

On a serious note I agree with the bold part. Dortmund players tend to play better there then elsewhere (Kagawa, Dembele, Mkhitaryan). Thus Jadon might need time to settle down.

Anyone else a bit worried about pressure he will under? The fee will massive, will most likely get the No.7 shirt and on top of it some fans seem to think he will come in turn into Messi for us.

Probably the worst article I have ever read. He is basically very bitter and worried that United will improve. Since when did a Liverpool fan decide what is good for United?

Nice little winner at Anfield in front of him please Jadon,in fact go one better and kiss the badge too.

Sure there's going to be some form of pressure anytime someone gets signed for a club record fee but I also think he's coming in to a much better squad than our previous 2 club record signings did so it won't all be down to him to attempt to carry the side when he'll be just 1 cog out of 5-6 exciting and quality options we have. I think he;ll compliment the attacking talent we have quite well and won't have to be a one man show at all

That is a big danger, which is where Ole will have work to do. It also sort of helps that Rashford and Greenwood (to lesser extents) also have pressures on them, too. Young, very talented players who are all expected to become the next club legends. (I know that they don't come with the price tag, but there is still an expectation there) You'd think that the squad would be able to help him feel settled and help him cope with that pressure. I'm actually optimistic in this regard, seems like we have a likeable squad of players.

Dembele hasn't been bad though.

I doubt Gaz will criticise any England player

I don't worry about his mentality at all. Anybody big enough to walk away from City and Pep to go abroad and star at a big name German club probably doesn't feel pressure too bad.

It'll be important for him to have a good start, but I feel he will slot in perfectly and we have some great role models that'll help him fit in nicely.

Being English the press will probably be more on his side also.

Who should we buy in that DM/DLP role next summer do you reckon that wouldn't cost a fortune

I don't watch lot of footy outside epl but Roca is someone I rate (could be available for 18m as per the media reports).

Keep hearing good reviews about Soumare and Zakaria who could all be available for 50-60m.

Pressure is part of playing for United, whoever we sign. It's part of the challenge of playing for a huge club.

Nobody is talking about him being a messi. People just know he's played very well over recent years and are excited about United signing a player.

He's joining a team of great attacking potential. Pogba, Bruno, Martial, Rashford - Sancho will be complimenting our team not carrying it.

Are they selling Kalidou to finance that deal? I can't believe an Italian club other than Juve are spending that kind of money
Napoli owner is quite rich I believe.

They bought Higuain too for a similar figure, they've got it in them if they need to.

He seems like a good lad too from the England interview someone posted recently, lives with his dad, seems mature. I don’t believe the bad attitude thing really, but obviously no ones perfect.
Hopefully he starts well, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he struggled with the league at first.

Did Greenwood struggle? Sancho was and probably still is, rated higher.

Besides with the extra quality around him and his friends too, I expect him to do well. Obviously not scoring hat tricks every game but he'll effect more in games than not!

We paid £80m to sort our defence out last year.

Paying £100m for Sancho is worth it IMO. He is 20 and could be a mainstay in this team for a long time to come.

There are various factors, manutd are desperate to sign him, his demand will be there in one year due to his wages, his stats this year were brilliant.

If we get him, we could have potentially 4 £100m players in our front line.

Did we?

Yeah that Roca does seem a bargain price I have to admit that. Think we will monitor Zakaria next season to see how he comes back from this knee injury.
