Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Does anyone have any concerns about him or his agents?

- I’ve seen him have a few dud performances.

- He’s already played for Watford, Man City & Dortmund while he was still a teenager and is potentially looking to move again.

Not saying I don’t want him, I would be excited to see him in red. Solskjaer wouldn’t want him if he had a bad attitude. But I also wouldn’t be too disheartened if we took a punt on someone else.

He never kicked a ball for either Watford or City in their first teams

Once you get to a club like United, where else is there to go?

Especially with the squad that is being assembled, you generally don't move from United until you are either surplus to requirements OR if you have ambitions of say playing for Madrid.

Do you know any player who never have dud performances?

I'm concerned he'll flop or at the very least struggle to adjust right away. He's potentially coming into a more competitive league with more demands, I think it will take him a while to get on the same page as some of our players when he initially arrives.

My biggest concern is that this goes the way of Sanchez and the price tag/wages weigh him down.

Being in a club like United and getting fair amount of minutes under his belt, why would he like to move outside of England again?

No other clubs can afford him from PL from us. And also no way we would sell him to our PL rivals.

Many said the same thing about Bruno Fernandes when he was about to join us. Whether he can play in PL which is a level or two above Portugese league. But he has adapted quickly.

Sancho is a good in dribbling, can hold on the ball, good at passing, can make quick interplay. He is someone who relies on his technique rather than speed. He can easily develop into a player like Hazard.

Not the fat version hopefully. Hazard is a great gifted player, the problem is he's only playing for fun.

Won’t really be an issue thanks to Greenwood. Sanchez had hit the ground running, Sancho won’t have to.

Wages/price tag had nothing to do with Sanchez performances.

Yeah, let’s not buy players ever again.

Saw him live last December and he was just incredible. Such a smooth player with a lot of flair. It looks like he has glue on his feet. He is the real deal. Although i was really impressed by Brandt too.

Seems pretty obvious it is though. I don't get the paranoid attitudes, its like people want something to moan about.

You're clearly responding to my post so why not just quote me?

All I pointed out is that other clubs may be interested, regardless of whether there's been links or not. If that's classed as moaning then there's not much I can do about it.

Wages/price tag had nothing to do with Sanchez performances.
I think breaking the wage budget for him would have unsettled the dressing room, and then him playing shit will have had the rest of the squad questing the salary compared to theirs. Happens in all workplaces all over the world, football is no different.

Greenwood is great. But we definitely shouldnt be avoiding signing one of the best young English attackers in the world, just because Greenwood has had his breakout season.

I am confident that between injuries, form and rotation that all four of them (Rashford, Martial, Greenwood, Sancho) would get plenty of gametime. Its the likes of James that I would be a bit more concerned about.

If he requires 100m the I rather we go for Son from Spurs. Rashford is not a left winger

Levy would never sell Son to a rival, not for less than 70m+ at least. And Son is 28. If he is sold now it's likely to be his last big transfer.
20 year old Sancho is a much better value for the money, almost no matter what the final price is, due to the years of service he can give us, plus resale value if ever needed.

Rashford works as a left wide forward, with the permission to roam.
Sancho can work on both right and left, with Greenwood also able to fill in either of those or cf. With Sancho we'll have plenty of opportunities for how to set up our attack depending on who's fit.

Going from Watford to City is fairly normal for a youth player. Plenty of youth players make the jump to a bigger club at around the ages of 14-16. For example, Morgan Rogers just made the jump from West Brom to City, Harvey Elliot just made the jump from Fulham to Liverpool. If you look back at United youth players these are the players that made the jump to United at around age 16: Mejbri, Pogba, Januzaj, Hoogewerf, Mejia, Puigmal, Fosu Mensah, Chong, Jurado, Emeran, etc... Without counting there are probably 40 players in the past 10 years.

City offered a better footballing education with better resources in better competitions.

Sancho's jump to Dortmund was also normal for someone looking to get gametime. Dortmund obviously are more willing to play younger players compared to City no matter how talented they are. City have never had 2 youth players of the caliber of Sancho and Foden, yet have now proven they won't give them the playing time their talent warrants. So not a problem at all.

On the other hand, look at Martial. Made the jump from Lyon to Monaco. Then after playing first team football with Monaco, made the jump to United at age 19/20. So very similar to Sancho.

Honestly not bothered about this. He's only just turned 20, so this past season was only his age 19 season while his upcoming season is going to be his age 20 season.

For reference, Zaha made the jump to United at age 20 and turned 21 in November of that season. So he was slightly older than Sancho in his last season for Palace in the Championship while putting up 8 goals and 12 assists in 4300 minutes. Sancho put up 20 goals and 20 assists in 3300 minutes in a superior league in 1000 less minutes.

I'm not expecting him to have the same production in the PL, but I'm fine with it because he has the potential to eventually be putting up those kind of numbers in his prime. Just compare what Sane did in the Bundesliga or Hazard did at the same age. Sancho is at an age where he'll start to make jumps in dribbling production (disrupting defenses).

Anything is possible of course but a signing like Bruno is another example among many others, that playing in "the more competitive" PL means feck all for certain players. Sancho has the advantage of being english so settling in will be easier

I agree.

I think Sancho will adapt and settle quickly because he’ll be surrounded by quality players in our team.

The level of service he’ll receive is better than it’s been in a long time.

Ole just needs to manage his disciplinary issues well and make sure he doesn’t slack.

What disciplinary issues?

Getting late for training sometimes, off-field lifestyle, I’m sure you’ve heard all the stories too.
Ah okay. No I actually hadn't heard any of that . Only that he was a bit of an arse when leaving City.

I think we have good bunch of young lads in Rashford, Martial, Bruno, Pogba etc in terms of professionalism. You never hear about them being late for training etc. Hopefully they can be a positive influence on him.

Get this done asap. No fecking about. It will now be in Dortmund's interest to prolong the transfer, just in case it whips up interest from one of City, PSG or Chelsea. I'll be gutted if this doesn't happen now.

Pep is waaaay to proud. He ain't letting him come back at all.

Hmm, what do you think hurt his pride more the points difference in the league or Sancho leaving? That's whats its boils down to, if you had 120 million and needed a winger what would you do? Plus it would get one over on your rival.

Sign winger but Sancho is not the only winger, or good winger. Pep said he left and him coming back doesn't make any sense and closed that story right there. Maybe if Pep leaves then they might sign.

Jesse is 21/10 to join Everton.. Is it too early to open the champagne?
