Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

It is. Sancho is good, but he's only a promising player that may or may not workout for us. What I'm saying is we could be spending 120m and end up with another Sanchez problem. Heck, even Eden Hazard who was considered one or the best hasn't really worked out.
We are paying as if we are buying a proven player that will 100% work with us which isn't the case. We are taking a risk with him and in this time, 120m is too much. I would love to get him for 50m, and anything over 70m after bonuses is overpaying
There's no such thing as a 100% guarantee that a player will work out. Sancho is basically as close to a sure-thing as it's possible to get for our right wing.

No I'm not missing your point. I understand your point. I understand English. I'm laughing because if that's what we're doing, it doesn't work for us. I'm allowed to laugh.
Crystal Palace were originally asking about 10m more for AWB than what we ended up paying.

I don’t think anyone argued from the beginning whether we have the money or not. It’s been the same question from the beginning - what is the amount we will end up paying for him?

The baffling idea we can't afford him has been one of the biggest reasons the negative nancy's have been saying we can't get him, so yes plenty of people have argued we don't have the money.

Says the person whose team has Werner, Giroud, Abraham, Mount, Ziyech, Hudson Odoi, Pulisic and Willian for the attacking options AND still want to add Havertz to their team. If you find a spot for all of them I’m sure we can find a spot for a future world class player.

They won't all start, that's my only point.

I'm not an expert, but to me, if let's say there's a player that is worth 100m and only one team can buy it for 100m, while the rest of the team's can only offer 50m, the player should not be sold for over 50m. Why should a bidder try to bid way more than others? Just go very slightly over them and you get the player, kind of like how eBay works.

Someone has to drop out for him to come in.

Of course it will improve your depth and options from the bench but if you buy Sancho, he's a starter, that means someone in your team at the moment won't be.

With stats like this, its easy to fit in one more attacker apart from Sancho.

The amount of minutes Andreas played this season still makes me shudder, has anyone as average as him ever played so much for us in one season?

The key difference is that the sellers on eBay want to sell. Dortmund don't. If all they are going to get is 50m they would much prefer to keep him. We not only have to beat other potential buyers, but we have to make it worthwhile for Dortmund to sell. 50m with two years left on his contract is not worth it.

Thats not how pricing works, because the selling club is setting the minimum fee, and if he is worth €100m to the them it doesn’t matter if most clubs would only pay 50.

He won't be going for £50m and he won't be going for what Dortmund say either. As with any negotiations they'll meet somewhere in between and quite likely nearer to where Dortmund stand depending on how much United prioritise him.

I bet he's one of those players who are incredible in training but mediocre when it counts in actual games. It seemed like Mourinho was grooming him to be Carrick's successor in central midfield, up until we got murdered at Brighton last season.

Martial, Greenwood, Rashford, Bruno, Sancho & Pogba for 5 spots, what an AWFUL dilema to have.

Well that just isn't true. We saved 10m on AWB and a good bunch on Bruno. Admittedly we paid what Leicester wanted for HM but when you're dealing with large sums it's worth haggling.

Man, I'd love to sell to you on commission!
It is true. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to haggle. Where did I say that? We're still shit at it. World record for a non world class CB. World record for AWB too. Both of these facts are true. We paid less for AWB, and yes we should.still haggle. But that doesn't disprove my point that were rubbish at it.

Some people seem offended that United dont want to pay 120 million for Sancho. They also seem to think Dortmund can demand whatever they want in a covid market. Am even wondering if they are Dortmund fans masquerading as United fans. The truth is Sancho is not a 120 million pound footballer so United are right not wanting to pay that. He is not a Messi, Mbappe or Neymar type player to demand such a fee. Leroy Sane, Wan Bissaka and Bruno went for less than 60 million. These are more accomplished footballers than Sancho. Only a stupid club would pay 120 million on an Unproven player with 2 years left on his contract. Am convinced Woodward has learnt big lessons in the transfer market. He is more likely to walk away from this deal than pay silly money. 50 million offered by United according to some media is not a joke, its actually the right valuation for Sancho who is not proven yet. If you asked me to chose between Leroy Sane and Sancho, its no brainer who is better and surprisingly only cost 50 million.

on one hand I would love to have Sancho already in our pocket on the other hand I remember how difficult it was during that few months break to wait and see how Bruno and Pogba playing together is gonna look like... and I hate that waiting.

I would not want to be in Chelsea's fan skin knowing we already have Ziyech and Werner and need to wait months for them to play.

Its like getting brand new Ferrari looking at it everyday but do not have driver license...

So chill out a little if he is coming then he is coming, we don't need him right now when season is not over. Our players need to focus on getting to top 4 and winning 2 cups.

We need him day before we start our preparations for next season.

Sancho is much better than Felix who went for 100m+. Bruno came from an inferior league compared to where Sancho is playing and no one was wanting Bruno badly apart from us and we had a free run at him.

Sancho had two wonderful seasons in the league & has been decent in CL games. Him being English & 20 years old, his value is more than 50m what you are saying. If United want him we should bid for 80m plus 20m add-ons. Or else no chance of us getting him.

There are so many things wrong in this post.

All the authorities on Sancho on the Caf are hardcore muppetting. Unless they've watched lots of Bundesliga, I suspect they've barely ever seen him play yet "he's worth 120m" or "he's the missing piece" or "just get it done"... It's 100m for feck sake. This is by no means a no brainer. Definitely worth questioning if this is the right deal for us.
He's the best young attacker on the planet, and secondary only behind Messi in terms of goals and assists at 20 years old. He can play both wings to a high level. Right now we need a player like him, it's worth the price. People said AWB and Maguire were "too expensive and not worth the price" but look how much difference they've made to our defence. Scrimping and saving and buying lesser has cost us before.

You forgot to show your Scouse card at the door pal. Get out.

It'll be Greenwood who loses out to begin with, although I suspect it won't be long before he takes his place back. If there's one thing I feel confident in is that super sub Solskjaer knows how to manage everyone's minutes, at least that's what I'll keep telling myself.

There is also no way that players like Messi, Mbappe or Neymar would be sold for just 120m so why such a comparison? 120m is what gets you the next tier and that consists of players like Sancho.
Also what does "not proven" mean for such a young player? He already played two top seasons in a top league and his performances overall were more consistent than for example Sane in the EPL (and guess what kind of money City wanted for him last year).

That depends on the structure of the deal. Dortmund may insist on the entire fee upfront, in which case all of it will be paid this year.

The fact that it will be amortised over the length of Sancho's contract in the club's accounts, is not relevant - amortisation is a non-cash cost.

You’re confusing paying the transfer fee with the cost of the transfer!

We literally have the cash to pay the transfer fee, anyway, and the cost will be spread over five or six years.

Where’s the problem?

Wan Bissaka had only played one season of professional football...? :wenger:

Why should I be banned for giving my opinion. I am here as a Manchester United fan and I dont have to post things to be please everyone. I give my opinion on the matter,if you disagree with it thats fine, thats the whole point of the debate. My opinion still remains unchanged, 120 million is a lot of money for Sancho. I hope he comes to United because he will definitely improve the team but I just dont see how anyone can pay that sort of money for him, especially in this covid market.

Why are you lying?

Leicester were adamant they weren’t going below £90m. We got Maguire for £80m.

Crystal Palace wanted £55m for AWB and the cancellation of the sell-on for Zaha. We got him for £45m and kept the sell-on.

Sporting wanted £75m for Bruno. We got him for £45m.

This has been discussed many times.

Partly true.

Bruno will take only Pereira's minutes. Rest played in wide positions, hence It will be shared by new winger(Sancho), Greenwood and James.

Also Sancho and Grealish is not luxury but necessary as Next season as well premier league is going to have 5 substitutes due to covid. Hence having strong bench will make or break the teams. Having Grealish as first change for Pogba/Bruno will maintain our creativity and quality than other central midfielders we have. Also our season won't be derailed due to injury/suspensions in creative midfield.

Attacking 3 -> 6 players
Martial Rashford Sancho Greenwood Ighalo James
Midfield 3 -> 6 players
Pogba Bruno Matic Grealish McTominnay Fred

'

Its not some obscure Belarusian league. It's the 3rd best league in the world arguably and one of the most fun to watch. I see a lot of their games, most after EPL.

And I have seen loads of Sancho. So have so many others here. Sure there are people who are muppets. But my guess most of us have seen lots of Sancho. And yeah whether he ultimately is a success for us or not I see him as a no brainer signing for us.

If we get Sancho then we should all be incredibly happy.

As for beating Chelsea...... Don't forget this window for them is like 3 windows in one due to their ban and also have the Hazard n Morata cash to spend too on top.

Chelsea are having the best window of any club in the world for those reasons alone. Next year it will change though.

Yeah signing Sancho would be some coupe. The reason I say we need to beat Chelsea is because even having had their ban we’ve been pretty even with them all season as the table shows. I think with the signings they’ve made already and potentially adding Havertz they’d have a better side even though their defence is still dodgy, that’s assuming we sign no one. That’s why signing Sancho is so important, If we can get him plus a CB and maybe a DM we’re looking good regardless of who Chelsea bring in.

Have completely written off us signing a DM this summer but could get a CB if we can sell Rojo & Smalling first.

That’s my ideal scenario but won’t necessarily happen. I defo think we need a pacy CB to partner Maguire though, we look suspect defensively when being counter attacked as the Spurs and Bournemouth games have showed.
