Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

I mentioned this a few times recently so don't want to repeat too much, the amount of space he's given in the bungelisa can't be underestimated, also the fact that he is right footed so playing in the same role in the PL would be much harder to cut in and hold onto to the ball down the right flank...I want the player to do a similar role as Salah for Liverpool who is instrumental to initiate their attacking transitions down their right flank but of course I am not expecting he will ever reach his level.

As I have said if our scouts and manager think he is good enough then I have full faith in their decision however I won't be overly disappointed if we do not end up with him.
The fact that he's been 19 (now 20) for the majority of his season, and produced what he produced should give you optimism. Even if he doesn't reach that height initially in the PL, he has the potential to do it. The kid isn't in his prime right now. It's just that he's performing at such a high level for a kid where you can consider him one of the best.

Yes I agree - you also have Christian Pulisic who hasnt settled in at Chelsea yet.

We do need to be very cautious paying big money for Sancho.

Pulisic is so hyped, that American marketing did all the wonders..
Very inconsistent player-1 game great, 2 games he is invisible, 2 good games, 3 games bad
He wasnt even a regular starter, when Chelsea sent that offer, i was shocked..I just dont see that value in him and he doesnt look like he will be WC player or even close to that.
Reyna will be a much better player

Dortmund is an interesting place for a young players in the last 10y.
I watch a lot of their games since late 90s when they won CL.

Sahin- that guy was a wizard in the middle, at one moment he was top 3 midfielders in the world, went to Madrid, he wasnt the same player anymore

Kagawa- playmaker i havent seen in Dortmund since Rosicky, he was just astonishing. Went to United, his career was "over"...

Gotze- he was just incredible for a 19 year old kid, so mature in decisions, great techique, solid pace..Went to Bayern, mah...

Dembele- to be honest, i have never seen such a talent, maybe in Mbappe, that guy was a mix of ex CR, Bale and Ronaldinho all in 1, he was mocking with defenders in BuLi. Went to Barca, i dont know what happened to him..

Miki- Amazing stats in Shakthar for 1 midfielder, he continued that in Dortmund.. Went to United, its like he forgot how to play..

Only Lewy left and his career remained the same.. Gundogan was good and Auba, but Auba left to play for a weaker team than Dortmund, never understood that decision..

Its like Dortmund is a magical, but at the same time cursed place for player career.

And here we come to the topic: JADON SANCHO..

I watched him a lot, he looks special i agree, but in big games its like he isnt on the pitch and that worries me when i think of Premier league where you have big games every second game, the league that is more physical and more faster..

Do you remember Depay?

He was freaking good at PSV and i assure you he would be a beast at Dortmund also, but... In Premier League, he wasnt that good...
I dont say Sancho will be a fail like him, but i am not 100% sure he will be that good like now..
Good point and well researched.

True, and even aside from him being right-footed, I can't think of a top class winger in the last few years who didn't have very good physicality. Especially in the PL.

I would have liked if he had at least one of those.

Interesting comments regarding the doubts some have regarding the attacking players in the German Buli due to the space given.

But my personal opinion is that CBs, fullbacks and midfielders are tested in the German league alot more in comparison to our league, due to alot of teams playing a very attacking brand of football and requiring their CBs to both contribute in the high press and defend space while playing a high-line. The same applies to the fullbacks and midfielders too.

You honestly think you could afford to spend £100 million up front? I mean I know Utd have serious cash but surely that is a stretch even for you guys.

I don't think it would be upfront more of guaranteed fee + further add-ons.

Which is funny cause here in Germany we think players like him, Werner etc. will look better in the PL because the game is more about box to box play and attacking space. Sane for example also did even better in the PL than in the BL (or the german NT).

Important to remember that both Martial and Rashford have similar dribbling stats despite Rashford being the faster player (this year Rashford is ahead). So we shouldn't fall into the trap that lack of pace means you can't succeed. Sancho has slightly better feet to me than Martial and good instincts when it comes to dribbling.

If reports are accurate about what we have available I don't see it being an issue. Also bare in mind I'm referencing euros which is probably around 89 in pounds. I highly doubt we will be signing anyone else in the window however unless it's a really great value.

No doubt, and were he to play on the left I wouldn't have any doubts about his dribbling coming inside. It's the fact that he's supposed to play on the right that makes it more uncertain. Even a very good dribbler like Martial can have his repertoire reduced on the right, since he has less options due to also being right footed. Add to that the fact that Sancho can't use sheer physicality like Martial can, and it makes it even less certain.

But then again not every player has to follow the prototype. If we sign him we'll get to see first hand how he performs on the right.

I'm not making any predictions about attacking players just pointing out I find some of the observations interesting.

I just feel CBs, DMs, Fullbacks etc have to be really good in the Buli due to the approach of coaches like Rose and Nagelsmann. I'm not including the big two here because that's obvious due to the expectations at both clubs.

I'm thinking the same, I've actually never been as confident as I am now of signing him.
I think it’s obvious he wants to leave this summer.

Also, the way Dortmund have started spending money (Meunièr and now potentially Bellingham), it’s like they know they have incoming funds to help offset the spending.

We also seem like the only serious club and Dortmund is looking for a payday so they’ll be wise not to play hardball too much and risk jeopardizing the move until next summer window. By which time they’ll earn considerably less and also end up spending another years worth of wages on him.

Sane was 19 when he left.

I'll be honest, I think we should just play Greenwood on the right. He seems a very good fit there as a wide striker like Rashford.

I know it's very unpopular though.

It is, and rightfully so, Sancho in a team that plays like we play today is hilariously stacked.

Get him and Greenwood will still get tons of minutes.

I definitely wouldn't be opposed to both, but in that scenario Greenwood should be first choice for the right while Sancho would be able to play anywhere across the front line.

I think Greenwood should have a chance to really nail down that right hand side, but obviously if Sancho were to come in for big money he'd have to be first choice automatically.

Personally, I see Greenwood as a #9, long-term.

I think that ultimately his competition will be Martial, rather than Sancho/whoever we sign for the RW.

Greenwood is 17. He will get enough chances. Competition is good for development of young players

When you're booting 100m + into a guy of his age, you have to think he has the potential to be a Salah surely!

Agreed, that comment is down to my expectations of Sancho to perform for our right side.

Let's see if we will actually spend 100m on him this summer, if so - i'm perfectly fine with it as our scouts and manager must have huge confidence in his abilities

If Sancho is the player we need then we go get him. Greenwood will get games but I think it's an important statement to make. Of course you need luck but he would bring with him so much confidence and you can see the mentality of the group is maturing. We have so much pace and potential but we also don't want to burn out Greenwood. We don't want him to get injuries or run him into the ground. Even Sancho is still physical developing so it's good for us.

I can't be alone in not having seen him play that much - so I definitely don't give it all the "i don't care the fee, i don't pay" stuff some do.

I just hope that if we truly believe he'll make a massive difference for a long period, and we improve that we get him.
It does seem we've taken a much more sensible approach with transfers this last 18months or so.

A proper out and out right sided attacker for the first time since Nani and Valencia is an absolute must.

For a top team we've had a few of these inexplicable long periods of refusing to buy players for certain positions.

The centre mid period, right back, and the last remaining one right wing!

Honestly the first time I've been excited since SAF left is seeing Pogba, Fernandes play, knowing you have a leader in Maguire at the back and DDG can return to form.

Throw in the possibility of signing Sancho and you realise the club has really done some wonderful business.

Sancho would really stretch opponents, getting people to commit 2 players to him, its rare you get the kind of explosive dribbling Sancho has, and he can pass too, he's honestly a very good bit of business and worth the price given his age.

Imagine how dangerous we would be with an option like him on the right, so that even when Rashford has an off game on the left, the right would still perform. Greenwood is good right now and will eventually become our number 1 striker, but we need to be good as quick as possible, and having him there would not maximize our capabilities.

It doesnt look like they want to sell him and thats what they are saying the whole time.
Have in mind they have huge money for fees now after Gotze is gone who has 10M per year salary...

Yeah, I agree. He would be the perfect addition to our attack. He plays a fairly simple game and does play alot of give and goes, which could do wonders with players like Rashford and Martial with speed and good technical ability.

I’m confident this is happening.

The assists for all of Martial's goals today are all classic Sancho Dortmund assists. Good omen.

Sancho, Rashford and Martial would be such an exciting front 3. They can each play at least 2 different positions in that front 3, giving us lots of versatility. James and Greenwood are good backups, and maybe Ighalo if we keep him on.

It really feels like he's the missing piece of the puzzle in our attack and our team in general.

We'll have a better front 3 than Pool if we end up signing Sancho and we already have a better midfield than them. We'll surprise a lot of people next season IMO, we're still flying under the radar.

How many goals a season do you think Sancho is capable of getting for us?
