It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if we panic buy Sancho in January when we are mid table for about €150 million.
We are going to look utterly incompetent to the rest of the football world if this doesn’t happen now. We should have walked away months ago if we couldn’t afford it and other targets should have been purchased.
I really really hope that the media rip our board to shreds. It’s about time that they got called out for their inability to properly back a manager.

Before I get abuse, backing the manager does not mean spending hundreds of millions of pounds, it’s about bringing in players that strengthen the team.

I really do think that we will struggle to finish top 4 this season. All of our rivals that finished below us have strengthened.

I don’t really understand this arguement. I’m sure they already what Dortmund needs and what the actual deadline is. No way United would take it to the deadline day if they are not sure the player is still for sale. Maybe Dortmund don’t need replacement or they already have someone ready to sign or they get Messi Lingard and James as part of the agreement. Or you really think Dormund forgot to tell us when they want the final decision or they told but we ignore it and just send our 120m bid as a surprise?
If the intention is to pocket the cash, it going to the wire is the perfect cover to do so. Someone listed all the cover they have at RW if Sancho isn't there anymore, and whilst it's not good to subtract from a squad with a player like that, they don't plummet from a potential world beater to two players who are barely Premiership standard like we do.
Having other clubs acutely aware you've just come into money via the biggest transfer of the window is not ideal unless you've already got deal(s) agreed in principle with clubs who want renege.
As shrewd as Dortmund are, they've probably got a mid to long term eye on the next Wunderkind they'll get for a nominal fee some way down the line over spending a sizeable chunk on a ready-made player. The replacement thing, with regards to them, is less of an issue than the principle of telling us to do one if we don't meet their valuation, imo.
We'll probably end up putting 6 past them and Ole says his more than happy with the squad.

Thing is, no matter how you put it, one of the clubs has behaved very strangely. It would be very weird if you had dragged this out so long although Dortmund made it clear to you that any possibility of a transfer died on August 10. And it would probably be even more weird if Dortmund postured publicly like they did only to sell Sancho at the end of the window anyway. Either way, either Dortmund or United acted inexplicably dumb in this saga and has lots to explain when the window finally closes. I guess we'll know which one by October 5 at the latest.
Sounds to me like they're still trying to get money off. They'll cave and pay up eventually as I'm sure they'll see massive backlash if they don't as well as a seriously poor season.

If Dortmund truly had no intention of selling United would have briefed weeks ago that we have no interest In Sancho to save face.

Ed is a bit inept at transfers, but even he wouldn't stick with a transfer he knew he had no chance of securing.
He learnt that the hard way with Fabregas at Barca. If Dortmund genuinely didn't want to sell, we definitely would have walked. Hes just penny pinching, even a €1m reduction would be a win in his books
We’ve heard clubs before saying they won’t sell when eventually they did, even United. I don’t understand the psychology behind it, but it’s normal. Maybe they want to make sure they get the asking price, but makes little sense if privately they let them know about the actual conditions. I mean it is weird but known tactics.
I would be more surprised if United were so stupid to ignore the real deadline. And I think i’ve already mentioned here but if my maths is correct, 10th August would have been the last day of the transfer window if the season had ended in the normal way in May. Weird coincidence.
If we do poorly this season no one should blame Ole the blame lies with the incompitant and stingy board for not giving Ole what he needs a builder cant do his job properly without a hammer nor can Ole do his job properly without the right players coming in.

Would they mind having Sancho in the team another year? Of course not. Can they do without him? Pretty certain they can. They have a quite easy CL group as well. If they were to truly struggle they can get someone in January if they want to get further in the R16.

If you run one of the biggest businesses, which United is, surely you know from July you cannot spend £100m on one individual so you say, right, we will spend £35m on VDB and then we will spend £40m on x RW and see what else we can do.
