Do you agree that BVB have/want to sell Sancho at some point? If so, their 'price' is irrelevant, it's what buying clubs are willing to spend, and at some point BVB will have to take a call as to when they think the market price is at its peak.
I don't think next summer will generate a higher price for 2 reasons:
1) clubs will have even lower transfer funds available
2) Sancho has one year less on contract

There's also a big difference between how people view Manchester United and other clubs.
For example, Liverpool taking ages to sign Thiago but eventually getting him is seen as shrewd. United doing the same with Sancho (and hopefully getting him) is seen as being completely inept and backward.
Doubt it'll be empty for the entire season.
Even though I want the player here, the presumptuousness that has come with our pursuit really does grate. It's no wonder Dortmund are treating negotiations with contempt if they feel any kind of attitude to that effect.
Sancho always was an obvious player for them to nab, develop and sell at a later date, just as Bellingham and Haaland are/were, but the notion it's lined up for us and not any club who can meet their valuation who he's willing to go to is ridiculous.
We absolutely are not the be all and end all of Sancho's journey should we not land him this summer. He's a talent that will be on the radar for the select few clubs who can afford him, and rightly so.
If he's coming our way, my money is on us folding and meeting their evaluation with no silly incentives and not the other way round. But we'll see... perhaps we are playing a blinder that will reap dividends, or perhaps it's all hot air and already dead in the water.
None of that is particularly relevant though, is it? You're talking about the move from a potentially great player to one who is already a great player with 3 full seasons of stellar performance under his belt and a major. They are not one and the same. And of course the premium rises for what is considered more bona fide, which he would be after 3 solid seasons and an international tournament that he's shone in.

Doubt anyone will come next summer either for £100m. If so, provide me the thoughts or evidence on who can pay more than £100m!
If you're in the business of selling, you will always produce with a target seller in mind. If it's 'dead in the water', BVB have screwed up big time. BVB need to be very careful they don't rule out their only buyer.

Ofcourse it's relevant that he's already quoted at a price that means he's one of the most expensive players in world football....They aren't going to sell him for more. If someone forks over the same fee next season then he'll be off.
Paying that much for him will be an unprecedented level of fleecing in the transfer market.

Because context and history matters. Liverpool have done good business over the last few years and adding a world class player looks great even if it took a little longer to get there especially when they already have a great team. We havent done good business generally and look to continue to faulter.

This was spoken about at great length well before the transfer window opened in the Sancho thread itself.
The issue is, as things stand, we are in prime position to land the player with as little competition as possible, which is evident. That scenario won't last.
So you think, IF Sancho has a season equal to, or better than, the season he's just had, as well as performs well at the Euros of 2021, he'll cost exactly the same then as he does now? Is that what you're putting forward? That him being a year down on his contract will offset such obvious growth and further assuredness in him as a player?
Sancho is comfortably below the next bracket of player, which is where the Neymar's, Mbappe's, Messi's et al, reside. The point is, you don't want him edging north when you can nab him before a potential explosion - this all comes down to what you believe his limitations are and whether he's close to maximimising his potential. Much more so than the financial climate.
I'd agree up until Ole's appointment. Under Ole our signings have been good if slightly expensive (but every signing we make has a United surcharge.)
I hate Ed Woodward and particularly the owners as much as anybody but our 'uselessness' in the transfer market I feel is overplayed. We usually get our primary targets and that video from the French ESPN journo is a bit silly and more or less confirms that we get the players we want.

Total package for Havertz would add up to €100m after all add ons according to most... Sancho is a better player in a position that generally goes for more, has arguably higher potential, is English, and coming from a Champions League club vs a Europa League club. Havertz also wanted to leave and pushed. Sancho wants to come I'm sure but probably is fine with staying, so won't push for an exit.

I also gave my reasoning on why Sancho being a better player next summer wont help BVB maintain their market price, in fact it will decrease. Again you haven't done so.

I know the Championship window is longer than the Premier League one, doesn’t shut until mid October - does that mean that we can sign players from there too or is it just between Championship teams? If it’s the former then I can definitely see us going in for Brooks if we don’t get Sancho which is looking likely right now.

Fab was pretty adamant yesterday, that Sancho is staying in Dortmund, if not for some completely crazy last-minute developments.
I’m guessing it’s the other way round. Championship clubs would still be able to register new players and therefore sign someone from, say, the premier league.

When foreign reporters say it like it is while our own hacks are still making excuses for Woodward and co. To be fair, it’s not all Woodward’s fault but there’s clearly a big issue that’s needed addressing for a long while now and for some reason it hasn’t been addressed. Are we that incompetent to get some shrewd negotiators in, an eye for talent? Someone like Ragnik? We had Ribalta who was noting but a bystander. We have to ask ourselves, why aren’t football men allowed to make decisions at this club?
If you're interested in the why's and wherefores, there are pages and pages of them in the Sancho thread, wherever that is - nothing has changed on that front.These discussions aren't new; Covid hasn't changed that - elite players move infrequently in the first place and that's what would need to be set in motion for the other major players to come in and piss on our current one-line parade with regard to Sancho.
With regard to Covid, we'll see what's what when the elite players move, not before. Those who have followed Sancho were already pricing him up pre-Covid and nothing is unfair in the current evaluation to them/me as he was in line to cost more than that in a normal market - equally, there are ball park figures Neymar and Mbappe are expected to go for, so when/if they make the move, let's see how much they go for compared to the pre-Covid evaluations.
In the normal, non-elite player world, players are still moving around for what they would've prior - can you think of any considerable discounts Covid has brought about? Sancho at £108m would be about the best one and still people here think we should be getting him for less, which is bemusing.
