Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

We really need to stop going for such obvious targets. We wait for players to become superstars before we show an interest.

Maguire, Sancho 12 months before we actually got them or even 24 months before we got them wouldve been a shitload cheaper.

I don't think our lot will learn.

An experienced winger on loan?

You mean like.... Gareth Bale?

:(

tbh I was pretty relaxed this would be done . Feels less and less likely ,each day a real pity I think he would have been a really good fit . Need to strengthen the squad but think we have too much Deadwood we just cant shift

Same. My hope is fading. We fecked up cause he was clearly for sale.

We'll walk away, wait a year, and then end up in a bidding war next summer, and then probably pay more than what Dortmund are asking for this summer.

You did call it early. I was certainly leaning the same way but not 100% sure. Were you being completely serious or just ever so slightly winding people up?

I know none of these people have any real inside information . As for the transfer sonething just never sat right with me from the get go . I would have loved to see Sancho at United dont get me wrong but i just never felt it was likely to happen .

So much of the information seemed false i really don't think Sancho was ever bothered about coming here and that was always going to make it difficult. All the supposed briefings were just the same baseless story repeated over and over i doubt they ever agreed terms with the player or agent

Dortmund only negotating via intermediaries I'm guessing was their way of telling us, it's €120m or you're not getting him.

We haven't just fecked up, we've royally fecked up, he would've took us up another level.

It’s extremely disappointing. The one signing we just had to get done and we failed.

The overreaction and sheer panic about Sancho scoring a penalty and Bellingham scoring against a lower league side in a cup competition while now up a man is soooo RedCafe.

So I read this initially as ‘MAN UP REDCAFE’ and I thought yeah! Right on! Then I put my glasses on....

I still think this could happen. We want it, Sancho wants it, and we’ve got until October to get it done. Does he usually take PK for Dortmund or was this his good bye goal? A swansong? A parting gift? Symbolic passing of the baton to Bellingham?!! He’ll be a red yet....

A lot of overreactions in here. This is gonna drag till deadline as we want to lower the fee as much as possible, but in the end, I think we'll be willing to pay what they want.

I still think we'll sign him and won't let my inner muppet be derailed until the window finishes.

However, it's a failing of the management if he comes in after we've dropped crucial points, much like Bruno, which might end up costing us CL for next season.

I think we simply can't afford him this summer. If that was known to us, we should have moved on long back.

I want to be angry at Manchester United in this saga but I perfectly understand their position now. 120 million Euros for Sancho is fine if the agent fees are included in that. I think Dortmund are being cheeky in quoting 120 million Euros as the price before agent's fees. They are taking the Michael. Am happy for United to pay 120 million which must include agents fees.

Good for you mate. But we've known about this potential agent fee for ages, the club probably have known about it for years. So why are we at this stage of the window and only just fecking deciding that we can't make this happen? We are such a badly run club, its laughable. Constantly shooting ourselves in the foot. We should have either walked away weeks ago or not ever got involved this summer. We knew the stakes, we've had a couple of years to discuss the move with his guys. This is just absolute incompetence.

But it will be forgotten about in a week when the football start, which was our plan all along. At least we've got VDB on the bench.

Am convinced this one is dead now. Grealish and Van de Beek would be enough. Promote Mengi.

They want it up front ? Or in instalments ? To be fair we are rich but with what is going on with Covid-19 we probably can’t afford 120€ million up front.

Ok, this is clearly in the bag already, time to close the thread and open de performance one, happy Sancho's day everybody!

:goes to cry in a dark corner:

They want it guaranteed. If that comes in the form of installments, they would be okay with that. The last thing we know is that we submitted a bid with add-ons forming part of the 120 million Euros, which Dortmund don't want.

Will never understand the apparent joy some 'fans' get over their club potentially missing out on their top target :wenger:

I understand it coming from rival fans but certain fans sound like they seemingly prefer being proven right and coming to gloat and insult other fans subsequently over the squad strengthening and showing real ambition for whatever reason.

Probably more of a release of frustration against the muppets that keep banging on about this deal happening based on absolutely nothing.

There came a time when it was right to start questioning what we were playing at and whether it may be wiser to move on and look at other options/fill other positions. We've passed that a long time ago and the realisation is now only just setting in for some that we will be left with nothing. Something that was pointed out, and dismissed, by some of us a while back.

that was through back channels though, right? I dont think there has been an official bid yet?

Maybe we moved on weeks ago.
Who knows?
We don’t really know if the asking price is even genuine, never mind whether the so called briefings about agreeing personal terms and agents fees have any substance at all.
Its all ITK and journo guesswork and conjecture.
The only thing confirmed and genuine, is Dortmund publicly saying no deal would be considered after 10th Aug.
Whether that was totally serious and final, or just bluster, is not the point. It’s the only thing we know that’s genuine.
Everything else is guesswork, b/s or from unconfirmed leaks and briefings.

We’ve been here before with other players, when the media and so called ITK’s has progressed a story for weeks, to the point where they were all reporting Utd had been in lengthy negotiations over the player.
It’s only after it didn’t happen and the story eventually fizzled away, that we found out there had only ever been a preliminary enquiry, which came to nothing and no transfer negotiations had even started and no bid was ever made. Confirmed by the other club as well.

So all we can do is wait and see if this transfer, if it’s even on, comes to anything.
If it’s a true figure, €120m is a ridiculous fee for Sancho. Utd would be right to walk on this one.

p.s. please give me some likes....even if you disagree with me.

Good post. Whatever happens, there will be leaks and briefings on what really happened after the window shuts.

It was only days ago that we briefed about a breakthrough with Sancho over his wages. We've been at Dortmunds door, cap in hand, all this time and have left ourselves short going into the new season. Ed Woodward: Specialist in failure.

Well then I’m all for paying it than missing out on him if we pay in instalments. To be fair to Dortmund they have all the power in this transfer and Sancho will come here but will happily stay there so he won’t push for a transfer.

Our RW has been a problem for years and with AWB being poor going forward it stands out even more. Sure I forgot what game (think it was West Ham) they let us go down the right and didn’t mark AWB and it made no difference
