Funny how a single game where he looked world class and magically he is amazing and its United that mis-managed him and he is wonderful 100% of the time. If he was anonymous yesterday, no one would be writing "what happened to Sancho, hes been so amazing since going back to Dortmund".

Its just the standard "we can write about someone associated with United and get loads of rage engagement".

He played brilliantly last night. Was a joy to watch. I'm sure most of us wish he could play like that for us. He can't. He didn't and he won't in all likelihood no matter who the manager is. He had loads of time and space last night to operate and he thrived. He didn't get that at United and in the PL and he struggled, and he doesn't like to struggle.

We need to be careful about bringing him back under a new manager because we have had this issue for years now. "Maybe the next manager will get the most out of X" and suddenly we have had a player at the club 5 years, given them a bumper new contract and are stuck with them for the next few years with zero resale value.

Wish I could like a post, because this is 100% accurate when it comes to him.

I was watching the match yesterday and my wife kept asking me "why isn't he at MU anymore?" and my response was always "cause he was a baby that kept crying about getting mistreated, for nothing".

Just been watching his highlights from last night, and he had only a few moments where he looked decent. His body language looks better and he seems to want to be involved (more than when playing for us), but he's not doing anything a £75m+ winger should be doing. One tackle, a couple of good dribbles, skipped past his man on the outside twice, a cross that Fulkrug should have scored, and a tidy through ball. Good but not overly exciting.

He's got talent, but needs to show it more regularly in every game. I don't believe he's too slow for the PL, I just don't think he was motivated enough to do what was expected of him.

The bar he set himself here was too low, now even a ,say 7/10 performance, at dortmund is looked upon as world class and used as a stick to beat us with.

I remember the same when ADM went to PSG and had a few decent games.

Some really salty comments here  pretending they are glad he played well so we can get a good price when the truth is they would rather he played rubbish so they can insult him again.

Facts are him playing well elsewhere just leads to one conclusion it's not the player that's the problem it's the manager

Is there even one poster here saying the manager aint a problem? :wenger:

We were all excited about Sancho, but he’s been crap for Ole, Ragnick and ETH. Now I’m sure he’d be better if the entire team was flourishing, same goes for Rashford mind, but whereas Rashford has at least for one season broke free of that and shown well… something, Sancho has done nothing but disappoint since joining.

Your conclusion makes little sense, was Fergie the problem and not Forlan for example? For some players United and the Premier League simply is too much for them mentally and physically. Dortmund appears to suit Sancho down to the ground.

I think I watched a different game to the press.

I mean he was good, but the way they're going on you'd think it was Zidane Vs Brazil in 2006 or something

First half was definitely overblown IMO, but i think he was really good in the second half and should have capped it off with 2 assists. But yeah, it was sort of a game which suited him - as Dortmund mostly played on the break/counter with space to run into.

I'd say it was fair if he was given a MotM rating (not sure he was or who was). Him or one of the Dortmund defenders perhaps.

I for one am glad he's being excessively hyped up, especially if it drives his price up.

If we can get a combined £100-120million for him and Rashford in the summer it would be a great bit of business on our end. Get them off our books, and invest the funds in a hungry young winger with a proper work ethic.

Blasphemy :(
umm-no.gif

Should have had two assists.
He hasnt exactly set the Buli on fire but we can hope this performance is him turning a corner.
If Ineos keep Ten Hag and this chaotic shite football then we need to sell Sancho.
If Ineos actually get a proper coach that wants to play possesion based football with wingers that look to create he might actually finally become the player we bought.

I still maintain that he was our only player who could keep his cool in the final third especially in the opposition's box.

ETH mismanaged him. Would let hm start on a clean slate under the new manager. World class players and talent don't just turn to shit suddenly. We need to provide him the right environment for him to flourish.

Ten Hag being not good enough and Sancho not being suited to premier league football don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

Exactly this, the media and social media posts this morning are way over the top. I thought he scored a hattrick and was unplayable by the people talk about him.

Its funny, if all these people think he is having such a great time, surely there will be clubs interested.

Watch how there are no takers and BVB want him for 20/30m for this supposed superstar.

Maybe "pressure" is the wrong term and "toxicity" would be a more accurate choice of words. I would agree with that judging from the outside. One way or another, Sancho is definitely more than good enough for the current United and if he can't play there out of a certain reason, be it pressure, toxicity or something else entirely, maybe it would make sense to change that instead of expecting players to deal with it.

The infamous pace and intensity certainly didn't seem to help the EPL a lot in the UCL and UEL this season.
I agree, certain parts of the fanbase are definitely toxic but it is pressure from the media (who are mostly ex United players). A bad game at Dortmund isn't scrutinised like a bad game at United.

Dortmund obviously won’t pay more than £30m because they simply cannot afford it. Has nothing to do with his quality, it’s just a nature of Bundesliga and its budget. Premier League is the only league in the world where non-top teams will pay £40m+ for footballers.

Why are most of us insisting that Sancho is the problem? Perhaps, Man Utd bear more responsibility? Many good players came to us and within 1 or 2 years the form gone south quickly. This is just not one off. How many players we signed post SAF work out very well?

Many ex-pros and pundits saw his CL semi final performance yesterday and was full of praise. Perhaps under new football structure here he could works?
Because he is the problem, he's not professional enough, he has a track record of being late for training, at United and prior to joining at Dortmund, most of us would lose our jobs if we kept doing that, watch the Overlap interview with Anthony Gordon, that is the attitude required for a professional athlete in this day and age, the difference between the two is night and day

Why would it be a wind-up? They're going to cover sport/football/CL and he had a good performance - are they supposed to hide him to not trigger disgruntled United fans?
Fair point, maybe I’m looking at it too negatively.

Fecking hell, watched this twice and as I suspected the fullback is an absolute liability, diving in, falling over.

If these are the "stunning" highlights, it's clear the PR world are in overdrive to garner clicks off the back of our perceived failure with him.

Absolute bobbins this is being spun as some mercurial performance

No goals, no assists, some middle of the pitch dribbles to nowhere, a full back leaping in and defending like he's controlled by a playstation.

Yes, he's "back"

If a new manager wanted him and he also was happy to return then I'd have no problem with it. His talent is clear to see, it's just how to get the best out of him. The reaction to Ten Hag's comments was wrong and I think he takes most of the blame but it could have been handled better by all and we also don't know exactly what happened. The reports of him and from what you see in interviews etc are that he's a quiet, friendly and polite guy so maybe there's more to it than just him sulking.

Even going further back to when he signed. If you're interested in a player but know they have a reputation for lateness you don't just go ahead, pay £70m+ and hope for the best. It's either something that rules them out as a signing or you put something in place to assist them. As pathetic as it may sound, employ someone to get him out of bed and to training on time. For an asset of that value, another few thousand to probably increase his productivity is nothing.

Watch Sancho produce a horror show of a performance in the second leg with Dortmund crashing out. As much as Sancho is improving, he is no where near the standards expected from an elite player. Unless he produces these performances every week.

Whatever happened, whoever was at fault; in the future INEOS need to ensure that a fallout between 2 people can not cause a £70M asset to be redundant.
Whether that is one of the new directors getting involved, a captain or senior player being a peacemaker this type of thing will happen but needs nipping in the bud early.

Hummels got the official MOTM award. Sancho did get the highest rating on a number of stats websites though.

Thanks bud. Yeah, they kept the PSG attack fairly quiet, so no real surprises but Sancho was probably the best attacker on the field last night. I thought Can was also quite decent - very aggressive and won the ball back a few times, albeit also fouled quite a few times.

Oh come on, these are the best bits too?

He made 2 good passes there and all of these supposed "successful dribbles" ended up with him going backwards? Am I missing something here? If he did similar stuff in a United shirt people would be calling him a waste of money.

The first step there would be to not spend £70 million on a player with a history of acting like a tit.

Aaaand this kind of attitude is exactly what's gotten us in this 10 year mess.

Stop thinking of players in terms of monetary assets. It's why we're shit at football, we hang on to dross like Sancho, Martial, Jones, Rashford, Baily, Anthony, Pogba and countless other players because we paid a lot of mone for them "one day they'll come good".

The fact is some players don't have the mental toughness to play for United, they cant take the pressure. It doesn't matter if they go out on loan and set the world alight if they wilt under the social media/ press/ old trafford lights, they are worthless to us on the pitch and should never be judged against their price tag.

Sell him while his stock is high. He did nothing for us when he was fit and was given countless chances. If he comes back he'll do nothing again, because guess what? He can't hack it here. It's a different beast to dortmund.

Fickle fans. 1 goodish performance and so many are bending over backwards.

He is not playing a full season of football and he was not even injured. So he plays well now and we want him back? Please.

Personally think him and Ten Hag just didn't match. The problem with ETH was that he fairly leave him out of the squad and later criticised him but at the same time he gave Antony a free ticket who was worse. If we can get a good price and sell him, that's the best solution. But if that's not possible I wouldn't mind giving him another chance. I think most of you are playing down his great performances because of personal reasons, which I understand. But there is a player in him that is miles better than Antony.

I hope he wins the champions league and we can recoup most of what we spent on him. But other than that, there's a huge difference between the league he is playing in and the PL and we have seen enough to suggest that when things get rough, he will back out

Did Dortmund tweet that everyone owes him an apology? Was clearly aimed at us and ETH. Don't think they watched his performances for us…

Just watched a highlights compilation of his game yesterday. A couple of decent moments, and a lot of recycling of possession. Nothing special really, but I hope it hypes him up, and we manage to squeeze a transfer fee out of someone. Selling him and Greenwood for good fees could be necessary in helping us rebuild the squad.

I love how one of our player performed a MOTM performance in a CL Semi Final being played down by many posters. Meanwhile our team was kicked out in a group stage and never been to a CL Semi Final for more than a decade.

At the very least be happy about it? He may or may not come back but it's a performance worthy of high praise.

A good performance, but people being ready to bash United and ETH after this is still odd. He was away training in Holland to get himself together and it just didn't seem to work. I just hope we don't fall into the trap of clinging onto him for dear life just because of a couple of nice dribbles and a pass or two in one match.

Calm down a bit, he is essentially redundant to us this season. I haven't said either way if he us good enough or I want him to stay. Typical of this forum for someone to jump in and give it the 'I know better attitude' without checking posters intent.
