Jack Grealish

I feel that too. If we could sign him in January we’d have a very strong squad to push on with a title challenge

also I’d like us to sign him before foreign clubs start sniffing around. He’d be a brilliant signing for Barca

Couldn't see a Spanish team coming in for him.
Firstly he'd cost galactico money and they are obsessed with the neymar and mbappe level deals.
Secondly he's a clear home boy. We might be able to tempt him an hour or so up the country, but he's not going abroad.

A jan transfer would be amazing. But is simply fanciful.

I'd post them a chq for 100mil today and just test their resolve.

Provided we have the money of course.

Maybe the glazers could say no to a march dividend this year....

With fergie watching from the stands last night I'd be surprised if he isn't thinking the same. A fergie type player/signing if ever there was one in the mould of the rio/rooney buys. You know what your getting. If we don't splash on him someone else will

That the the thing about where will he play etc. If someone else signed him we'd be gutted so we should try to sign him he's that good.

I reckon a deal north of 80m would not be turned down. 40-50m of that could be recouped by selling Pogba in the summer.
if Diallo and Pellestri are then competing for RW we’d be very balanced going forward
Add competition for Rb and a solid CB, perhaps a DCM depending on how this lad from Ecuador turns out

Complete agreement.

Him
Cb
Cdm
Rb competition

Then you look at halaand in a year or 2 and see if you can get as well

Only player in prem worth £100m - he'd make us title favourites.

This is probably more video game than reality, but in an ideal world i'd get rid of Van De Beek (signing hasn't worked out so far) and bring in Grealish, he can play 2 positions, LW and Fernandes role if need be.

Offer Lingard to Villa as a sweetner, hype him up how he was a regular England international under 3 different England managers up until 18 months ago and just needs playing time.

He was good yesterday given that it was a tough opponent. He would be a direct replacement for Pogba in my view, if Pogba is considered a left sided roaming attacking player and not a CM (which I never hope he is again). On current form Grealish is slightly ahead, though I think Pogba still has it in him to up it a notch.

for sure. He also has 7 assists which is the same as Bruno.

Make no mistake he'd be perfect for our LW alongside Bruno! I just don't like to see Rashford forced onto the right but at least he can still be semi dangerous there.

Theres an article in The Times today about this same subject. Grealish would be perfect here if Bruno wasnt already in his position. Grealish is not replacing Bruno in the middle, and its unlikely he replaces Rashford on the left either. Forget Rashford's up and down form, it's the pace and power he has that's so important out wide.

He’s so good, every time he’s on the ball it feels dangerous. Think he'd be worth moving Rashford over to the right for. You’d lose a bit from Rashford but the gain from Grealish would be worth it.

Probably the fact that none of our players could get near him and had to foul him 30 times contributed to that mate!

Imagine having his ball control and tying up a couple of opposition players and then freeing up the space for our other boys!

I thought he went down easily a few times, I could be wrong though. He is a very talented player though and I'd welcome him here, I just hope he's not being massively over hyped and would struggle if he joined us.

Definitely goes down a little easy but a lot of players do. And when it's against your own team you'll be more likely to spot it.
But he's been playing like this all season and should have about 10 times the assists he has. His colleagues miss a heck of a lot of chances he creates.

In the summer I was like many in thinking he was way too high a fee for someone who wouldn't be a definite starter.
But I now think he'd be one of the first few names on the sheet.

True, but Rashford can be just as deadly on the right.

Jack Bruno Marcus would be pretty insane. Add an in form/up for it Anthony covered by Greenwood with Paul lying behind the front four...oh my.

Does he play without shin pads ? Every time I see him play he seemingly doesn't have any on.

He wears them but they’re the skinniest smallest things allowed basically. Pretty much won’t give you any protection.

His tendency to go down easy aside (which tbh it's not like we don't/haven't had those sorts of players ourselves) he is very effective. In particular he doesn't over complicate things, just waits until the right moment and makes a good pass. Also think he's similar to Bruno in that he doesn't shy away from the ball or pass the buck.

I can't say I've seen much of Sancho myself and personally I think if we can get Grealish at a reasonable price we should particularly if Pogba is going to go and given purchases we've made for the RW already. I don't see why we can't have him, Rashford and Bruno alternating positions behind the striker in our 4231 formation particularly if they all work hard off the ball. I think we'd really benefit from having someone like Grealish who can put in a good cross/right pass in our attack and is a ready made, PL proven talent. Rashford still has his head down a bit too much and neither he or Martial seem to be good at crossing and Bruno is often more high risk in what he tries to do.

I thought the same too about him going down easily hence the amount of fouls he gets against him. However, what a signing this would be along with a CB

They can interchange in games too.
Grealish would mean Bruno could properly get rested - which was meant to be why VDB came but hasn't happened yet.

And plenty of mixing and matching.

I did not know he was so good , it's the first time i have properly watched him this season and my days, best attacking player on the pitch for me, he literally orchestrated what felt like every single Villa attack, what a performance,

I just hope because he stayed with Villa this season he has some form of Gentlemans agreement where they don't price him out of a move, I would say 60m max is fair for a player of his ilk, it would be great if we could maybe lower that by sending someone like Lingard in the opposite direction.

Pogba will leave in the summer 100%, i really hope he is replaced with this guy.

We are going to do this every year until he is past it aren't we? This is the new sneidjer isn't it.

He's brilliant.

The combo of technical ability, flair, arrogance, work-rate, leadership...Fergie would have absolutely moved mountains to make him a United player.

His mini-me - well major-me if we're going by height - Matty Cash is another brilliant signing for them. I know Villa fans absolutely love him, and you could see why tonight. Insane engine, great in possession and such a good crosser.
Yes, Cash is a hell of a player as well. Very impressed by him.

Sign him and we we win the league. What a player
No. Sign a mean, quick and skilful CB and we have a chance. Our problems stem from far too many defensive errors.

The most important position(s) on the pitch. Our MF is fine though we could do with finishing chances up front

Did Young diving all over the shop annoy you when you signed him from us. There's your answer.

He was playing from the right quite a bit last night. Having a player with the versatility and quality to play on the left, right and through the middle would be invaluable.

Yes but I don't think Grealish is the same. He exaggerates the contact, but the fouls he gets are usually the correct decisions.

Did he go over as much for you lot

He was worse than Jack imo.

Think last 10 years game has changed even more and players know if they're in centre circle they can back in and feel a nudge, collapse and ref will always give a free kick. Kane does it every game as does Jack and McGinn with his beautiful backside constantly gets free kicks every game backing into players. Good tactic to slow the game down if you're winning.

If you look at the stats Grealish has won very few penalties for us compared to Young in the 2007-10 period, we used to get 5-10 penalties a season when we had likes of him and Gabby upfront.

A few times Young would be going past the full back, start to fall and would move his leg towards the defender just to make sure contact happened. Bit like Pires did for that dodgy Arsenal penalty years back.

We could have a similar team to the 2006-2008 team if we get him

Martial
Bruno
Grealish New CM Fred Rashford
Shaw Maguire Bailly Wan-Bissaka
De Gea

vs

Saha
Rooney
Giggs Carrick Scholes Ronaldo
Evra Vidic Ferdinand Neville
van der Sar
I like it. But that new CM would have to be someone in the mold of Carrick.

I think Rashford could work long-term on the right. He is seeing a lot of the ball now wherever he's playing which was the problem when he used to be shoehorned on the right before.

He needs to improve his decision making but that goes too when he's on the left.

I'm hoping he can adjust there too, he loses a bit from his trademark, cut in and shoot manoeuvre - but he can adapt to new skillsets too. I think he can still be devastating from either wing, and if we can have Pogba on the left or Grealish it's a huge plus.

The rumour is that Barca cant afford the €5m it would take to sign Depay now. Hard to believe but it does seem like they are strapped for cash.

If we could get €50m for Pogba in the summer it would go a long way towards paying for Grealish.

I think Young's diving was massively overblown and then it became one of these falsely accepted facts.
On the same level as the likes of Kane, Salah, Sterling. But they get away with it more as they're fancier players.

I don't think Grealish is at all a diver by the way. Same as Hazard. Just gets fouled constantly so gives the refs a hand in making the call.

Him and Bruno in the same team would cause a problem for the opponent, a new problem. Two AMs that are very productive, intelligent and have good technical ability meaning they can dribble past defenders as well. Mark one, the other roam free, foul them and it's a penalty. We might not be able to rely on width compared to if we had 2 wide players but feck me, those two playing together would guarantee a lot of goals. I can just see it. Teams would have to adapt to us and not the other way around.

Some of the prices ITT are silly. Villa selling Grealish to us (of all clubs) would be £100 m + before even starting negotiations.

No doubt a top top player. I think a real striker and quality ball playing CDM are priority.

What has Greenwood done that you are not on first name terms with him?

Where would we fit him in if we bought him.

He was absolutely stunning yesredrday. If Southgate has any sense he'll make him a starter for England.
