Jack Grealish

No surprise he's settled well in the PL. Good player who should be in the England squad, imo.

Also, he's the most fouled player in Europe. Regarding that stat, it's what makes me compare him to Arthur (though obviously not as good). Unlike most when pressed who look to distribute the ball before contact is made, he holds onto it, baiting the player into fouling him as he knows he can keep the ball under pressure, which is something Arthur is incredible at.

Only City, Liverpool and Chelsea have a higher xG than Villa so far. These teams + Leicester have more goals. Largely down to McGinn and Grealish. Probably had good fixtures so far. But of them are interesting.

Grealish could be an excellent option to Maddison. Honestly think Grealish is better, but Maddison two years younger.

He's an interesting player, I don't think England have anyone like him in midfield. The comparison to Maddison is an awkward one to make as they are rather different. Maddison is very much a final third chance creation merchant - his game will always be to force play, as shown by him 'creating the most chances' in the league last season.

For what it's worth, I don't think Grealish offers more than McGinn would. If offered a choice of the three young British midfielders, the Scot would be my pick. Grealish has excellent ball retention as @Yagami alludes to, but beyond that, McGinn is stronger, just as insightful at passing, and a greater goal threat.

So far this year, only Trent and KdB has created more than Grealish. But yes, I too would prefer McGinn over all of them.

But I do not agree at all that Grealish and Maddison is that different. I do think Maddison is more suited as a 10 than Grealish. In a 433 I would prefer Grealish. In a 4231 I would prefer Maddison. If I wanted the most flexible player I would prefer Grealish. But they would bring several of the same qualities.

Lazy comparison time, but with those colours on it's a bit like watching Joe Cole in his West Ham days.

He was brilliant vs Brighton, from the beggining to the end. Really looked a level above everyone on the pitch both in terms of natural ability and in performance. This is despite the fact that for the first half before the red card Brighton was as dominant as you could want them to be.

His weight of pass is always perfect. Has a bit of class about him on the ball. Would suit us really well in my opinion and would be cheaper than Maddison.

I prefer him to Maddison tbh

I like him, deserves a call up for the friendlies before the Euros.

He will give us problems next Sunday I am sure of that. I also expect him to get a call up from Southgate in March if he plays well until then.

He has the ability to drive forward from almost any position and create whilst on said run. There aren't many in world football who do that. It basically means he creates fear and disruption for the opposition from the moment he has the ball because he's forcing proactivity otherwise, he'll go straight into the box, where the likelihood of a penalty being conceded is high.

He also allows a lot of off the ball runs to be made because he retains well and finds passes whilst on the move - put him in a side with smart, pacey runners, and there's potential for chaos.

There's a derth of this kind of player, especially so at clubs outside of the elite - it won't be long before the top clubs line Grealish up. Even in his raw state, he's a viable asset sides with better squads than Villa will be happy to utilise.

I don't think he'll do the generic 1,2 big club leap - think it'll be Villa then straight to a big hitter. Fee will determine the suitors.

Quality footballer, been a massive fan since I started watching him in the Championship for the past two seasons.

Seems to have grown up and concentrated on his football and it's done him the world of good

I still find it funny that some doubted his talent.

Hopefully Southgate catches on sharpish, too.

Typical of gravy legs to show up against us. We make every player look like a hundred millions worth apart from our own spineless lot.

We really should try and sign him.
Will probably be cheaper than Maddison as Leicester will ask for crazy money.
I also think the potential in Grealish is greater than Maddison.

Signing Jack Grealish next summer is as clear as it was signing Rooney in 2004.

Calm down you psychopath. Rooney had just come off the back of an incredible 2004 international tournament.

All his goals this season have come when he's playing left wing. 4 in 7 starts.

0 in 6 starts in CM

Great goal, but as I said before he only scores when playing left wing and we have too many left wingers as it is. That doesnt mean he isnt better than them.

Also had a couple of nice contributions in the middle during the first half.

Thought he was poor in the 2nd half, missed the sitter and his set pieces were very bad

Where's the CL football to tempt him?

He'd only leave us for that just like Young and Milner did before.

Would be brilliant in La Liga but don't think he's the type who'd go abroad.

Rooney was a once in a generation 18 year old wonderkid.

Don't let a decent performance against our dross today fill your hype wagon up too much!
