It's the first game of next season..how do you feel

Will be excited only if ETH is the manager and atleast 4 new first team players are in the side. My team
Sancho New St New RW
Fred Bruno
New DM
Telles Varane Lindelof New RB
DDG

DeGea

Cash Varane Maguire Telles

Tchouameni Neves

Fernandes

Sancho Osimhen Rashford

Again Rashford is the problem but I don’t see how we reinforce other areas without keeping him on, could go for Nkunku instead but then we are in the realms of 5 new players when 4 is probably unrealistic.

A new thread, because why not?

Having sold or released more than half the squad, while still being tight with incoming transfers, ten Hag has been installed as the new manager. The team finished 6th in the league and got knocked out at the QF stage of the CL having navigated the tie against Atletico. Ten Hag will use the 6 European matches as a chance to look at promising youngsters and synchronising the style of play between the first team and the U23s. The sole focus is on the league and developing a team for the long term. There are a few weeks until the transfer window closes, but there won't be any super stars arriving, there is now an actual cultural reset and wage management is imperative. Many players have left as they knew they would not feature prominently, some were told they had no future at the club, and others have been released. The ones that have been shed from the squad are: Mata, Matic, Jones, Tuanzebe, Maguire, Bailly, AWB, Shaw, Telles, Pogba, Lingard, Martial, van de Beek, Cavani, Ronaldo, and Henderson. The team for the opening day of the season:

----------------------de Gea
Dalot-----Lindelof-----Varane----Williams
----------------------new DM
-------------Bruno-----------Mejbri
Elanga------------------------------------Sancho
--------------------new Striker

Subs: Heaton, Mengi, Laird, Garner, Diallo, Rashford, McTominay.

How does that feel to you?

That side would be battling relegation, in my opinion.

I don't care who the next manager will be, I just want:
- no Rashford, Maguire or any other English overrated trash like Rice
- no AWB or Shaw
- rb - varane - cb - telles
- dm
- rw - bruno/new 8 - fred - sancho
- ronnie/st

So, realistically, we need:
- new rb, cb, dm, cm, st

I know there will be outburst with Bruno, but I don't give a feck. We need someone to replace him in at least 50% of games, especially in those elite ones where he magically turns into cleverley.

Uuuuuh, the CAF's very own football manager.

I feel excited of course!

Pogba has left, Ronny left, Lingard joined WH on free, we finally managed to sell Martial to Sevilla, Cavani went back to obscurity in South America, Mata joined the staff, Shaw got on a brutal diet and is leener and meaner then evener.....

De Gea on goal. A veteran of the game, the new team captain.

A new and exciting right back.
Varane back to his best.
Jones in the starting line up because Harry is injured and we sold Bailly to newly promoted Fulham. And Phil is on fire!

Shaw like we said, lean and mean, playing his best football.

A rock solid back four, protected by a new DM. (Insert your prefered player)

Bruno and Hannibal in front of the new DM with Sancho and back to form Rashford on each sides.....

And, cream of the crop, the biggest upset on the transfer market....Haaland on top.

On the bench, our solid and reliable McFred, with an array of youngsters from the U23 team ready to pounce and take their chance.
Elanga, Garancho, Hugill, Shola, Chong, Pellistri, Laird, Mengi....

That's only 3 (RB, DM, CF) players we need to buy.

Our own bald mothhrfecker at the helm, pushing the team and punishing the poor performance.

First 10 games we get off to a flying start, getting the maximum 30 points and sitting on top with Arsenal behind us....hello 2002...

---------------------de Gea
Timber-----Varane-----Gvardiol----Shaw
----------------------Tchouameni
-------------Bruno-----------Mejbri
Antony------------------------------------Sancho
--------------------Martial

Subs: Köhn, Mengi, Laird, Garner, Diallo, Rashford, Fred, Sesko, Elanga, Maguire

Philipp Köhn on the bench if ten Hag wants to opt for a ball playing keeper, which I believe he'll want to go with eventually.

Martial I still have hope for under a coach like ten Hag, and Benjamin Sesko as the understudy and long-term option for the central striker role. He looks a very interesting prospect.

And if we can achieve something resembling the above and the team can finish top 4. Then I believe we'll be in a fantastic position come the summer window for the 2023/24 season.

That's quite ambitious, but I like it. Although I'm not sure Martial has the football brain for it. He's immensely talented, but does he see space, not least for others? I don't think we'll ever see him as a capable lone #9. Tchouameni and Gvardiol are on the verge of world class signings, would likely cost the moon and with better positioned clubs likely keen, a long shot. But with 5 subs next season, it is such a great opportunity to rejuvenate our squad and see what these young players are made of - which of course is a mutually beneficial situation with an educator perfectionist coach.

Glad to see some positive responses here!

No way we are selling/letting go 16 players in the summer, we are not bankrupt.

I would like to see something like this(realistic opinion):

----------------------de Gea
Dalot-----Maguire-----Varane----Shaw
----------------------new DM
-------------Bruno-----------new CM
new RM------------------------------------Sancho
--------------------Ronaldo

Subs: Henderson, Lindelof, Elanga, Rashford, Martial, Telles, AWB, new ST, MCT, VDB, Bailly, Williams, Fred

Cavani, Pogba, Lingard, Mata, Matic and Jones can leave

It's not about being bankrupt, it´s about the opportunity to make a huge shift for the long-term, reigning in the unmerited wages, and building a healthy culture.

But we've got quite a few players who can form a base for a functional team going forward. Needing maybe 3-4 signings in the summer, we can afford to trim the squad a bit.

Osimhen is likely going to cost more than Haaland's release clause (obviously less factoring in wages and agent fees), so a tall order. I do like him very much though. As with Gorky, what does your bench look like? Which youngsters do you want to see at the club given chances from the bench and, potentially, the Europa?

Osimhen would cost a lot yeah, but he’s a proper player.

subs: Henderson. C.Ronaldo, Fred, McTominay, Shaw, Lindelof, Elanga, Mejbri?, Garner? Laird?

Until next summer get rid of C.Ronaldo and Shaw bring in a couple of top level players in their prime and the 3 kids could be doing okay then. Would be in a good position then I think, if not total rebuild in 3 years.

Depends on which team we are talking about here, if it is the women's team, then I am hopefully looking at a fair few new signings, both internally with new contracts, and externally, being brought into the club, as we need at least two marquee signings, to really push the "big 3", as we will not break their stranglehold over those positions without the full backing of the club to go out and bring those sort of players in.

If that happens, then I would be really looking forward to the new season with a lot of confidence, and I would hope that we could really challenge them, and hopefully we have lots more luck in terms of injuries, as having our two best centre-backs out injured for as long as we have this season, and missing Heath for as long as we did in Casey's last season, really has hurt us, and cost us back to back Champions League football.

Missing out on Champions League football, by a point, and then perhaps GD, if somehow we can beat Chelsea on the last day of the season, will be very frustrating, it would be nice if we could go into the new season, confident that wouldn't be the case yet again.

Yes, the English contingent of recent seasons are more trouble than they are worth. Overpriced, overpaid, overrated and difficult to get rid of.

It would be great if Maguire, lingard, shaw, jones, rashford were released or permanently relegated to be squad players at best.

The board continue to make odd decisions signing players past their best in the hope to sell more shirts to keep the Glazers in yachts. The new manager will begin to wish he had not signed that four year deal with no release clause or compensation agreement. Greenwood will be banged up, Rashford will be abroad and Kane will finally be at City. We will have the top four teams for the first four games and languish at the bottom for two months. As you can tell, I expect nothing more than another shitshow just like the last four seasons.

Reinvigorated.

We will have either Pochettino or Ten Hag and both are an enormous upgrade on Ole and Rangnick.

All a good manager needs is a proper pre-season.

How on earth is Pochettino an upgrade on Ole??

I really don't get this mindset at all.

I would be very disappointed if we go from Ole to Pochettino, it would be a huge step down, getting a Spurs cast off, who wasn't and isn't good enough for them.

I struggle to take your post seriously.

Ole was a failed Cardiff manager.

Pochettino massively improved Espanyol, Southampton and Spurs with all his teams playing exciting, high pressing football.

It seems like it's likely to be Ten Hag anyway unless he turns us down, but you're utterly delusional if you don't think Pochettino is a massive upgrade on Ole.

He is an upgrade to Ole no doubt about that, but I just don't like the fact that he moved away from his high pressing football from his Soton and early Spurs days.

Ole was a successful league title winning manager, why not mention that??

He has a vastly superior C.V. than Poch.

He did very well in charge of us, but for one kick would have had a European trophy, and he delivered soo many amazing victories, with City away and PSG away at the very top of them, what the heck has Poch ever done??

Sorry, but Poch really isn't in Ole's league, or on his level.

I'm shocked at how utterly clueless or delusional you are, I'm not sure which.

Pochettino took Espanyol from the relegation zone to comfortable midtable and Southampton from relegation threatened to top half regulars.

His Southampton team came to Old Trafford and d*cked all over us while Fergie was in charge which was unheard for a smaller team to do.

He then took a Spurs team from top 4 outsiders to top 4 regulars and Champions League final while having a zero net spend.

Ole won a farmer's league that Molde were supposed to win. Great....
