I disagree with the sentiment though.
We've bought two potential RW stars. We'd have loved Sancho before he was a star right?
Cavani could well start, the fact he could play himself into the team makes him a worthy signing.
Telles will definitely fancy himself to be in the first team and I hope so.
VdB would offer us everything Pogba doesnt. And I hope he starts.
Henderson should force DDG out of the team too.
The most telling thing about our signings is the mentality of the players.
Cavani and Telles by all accounts are more from the Bruno ilk than say Pogba.
VdB, Cavani, Telles & Bruno are all aggressive forward playing players. They hustle. They have grit.
The youngsters we've bought have everything to prove. And that motivation might be worth more than getting a ready made star with questions over their profressionalism.

It all depends on bringing quality right winger. Telles will be better than Shaw, Cavani is OK, I don't know why we bought VdB if Pogba is staying but it remains to be seen.
3 competent players for 3 attacking positions is ridiculous so yeah, depends if we bring some good RW.

Mine too. I’d sooner have had a starting RW/DM/CB / rotation CAM than rotation ST/Rotation LB/prospect RW/ prospect RWThis was my wishlist and feeling for this window before last season ended
Disagree - when we actually started with our first 11, we gathered more points than just about anyone.
Key players in that first 11 were not playing for large portions of the season for various reasons. When they did, we did climb quickly up the table.
That said, I think we could do with an upgrade in about 3 positions
With the way we are playing, all 3 of them will probably start soon. Telles can cross for starters, and DVB can actually be arsed to play football, so they will get ahead of Shaw and Pogba soon.

You assume that Cavani has signed. It is three hours and 43m left and no sign that he has officially signed. We are talking Manchester United post-Fergie. Don't count your chickens until there is a signature on the paper.

Telles is a starter. No question he's better than Shaw. He's one of the best attacking leftbacks in the world. It would be idiotic not to start to him.
In my opinion Telles will start. I also think Cavani will prove a better CF than Martial. Many overrate Martial’s ability.

This is what happens when you have one main target and can't even get that across the line. Hence all our signings are kids, quick fixes, short term deals and rotational players. I hope all these players do well, now and eventually. But it doesn't mask the fact that we've botched the window and make fools of ourselves. And while people will complain about the OP moaning about something unimportant, but you're right - we saw Livepool lift number 19, 33 points ahead of us and reacted with utter incompetence.

I am very very concerned that our lack of defensive signings will be our downfall, not missing out on Sancho. A pacy CB and Partey would have improved us immensly. I seriously doubt that Ole can organize Pogba, Matic and any of our two CBs into a tight defensive unit. A lot of our opponents can run rings around our sleeping giants, just like Spurs and mighty Palace did.

I think people agreed that we should upgrade RW and potentially defensive mid, but that extra depth would mean we could add to our points total rather than running the squad into the ground
We have managed to be in a position where we needed to improve the depth of our squad and have a squad which is too large and needs trimming at the same time.
I've become totally apathetic. I can't imagine what the players must be thinking seeing the gruelling schedule this season. Acheived top 4 expecting exciting players to join & we got nothing.
No wonder morale is at an all time low. What is the actual point of it all?

- Cavani was contemplating retirement before us, his body is shot to pieces. 7 months out too so not going to be a sub until November at the earliest.
- Telles is decent going forward but is a defensively weak lb in an already terrible defence.
- VdB is mind boggling. Decent player but doesn't actually solve anything new for us.
- Pellistri/Traore aren't going to be relevant for at least 2 years.

I don't think I care about this. Our starting XI is great, I'm still always excited to see that line-up. Yes, one position really needed a starting signing, and that's RW, and we have clearly fecked up or bottled out of Sancho. But elsewhere, the issue is a total lack of quality reinforcements/alternates, so signings like VDB, Cavani and Telles (who might well stake a starting claim, actually - his attacking stats are exceptional) are exactly what we need.
Of course this place is a maelstrom of negativity after a summer of inarguable underinvestment and a horrible defeat to Spurs. But I still think we're probably heading in the right direction. Just slower than we would have been if the owners cared enough for trophies to get Sancho.

Yeah maybe an old fashioned schooling from Partey will persuade Ole to go into the market for a DM next summer,in regards to a CB there will be much competition for Upamecano so beware

I'm torn on the two kids we've bought for the wing. I've been banging the drum for years when it comes to buying a RW and I'm glad we are investing in youth...
But, I'm uncomfortable that our most suitable options on the right (including Greenwood) have an average age of 19. It seems like a huge amount of pressure on them when you consider the fact we haven't signed a Sancho/Dembele or even a Willian. It feels like an older player to help ease the burden is still needed.

Maybe we see some loans to championship clubs for our deadwood,chances are we will be footing much of the wages for that to happen though
