Italian Serie A 2022/23

2 games 2 wins and 2 clean sheets.

Great start to the season for Roma and Jose. They struggled this game a but especially with the loss of Zaniolo and Gini. If Zaniolo is out for an extended period that will be a big blow for Their season.

Huge game for Roma next week away to Juve.

Not the strongest lineup forJuve. Zakaria on the bench and for whatever reason Rugani plays in defence.

Still missing Tek & Pogba and now missing Di Maria & Bonucci.

Zaniolo out for a month, big blow.

I know it would be too early to say but the game with juve might shows us if they're genuinely challenging for the title or not.

I tend to agree with this.

What Roma does VS Juve as well as how they cope without Zaniolo for a month will tell us how real of a challenger they are.

True, even of they lose the attitude they'll show in that game let's us know whether they have in the to challenge or not.

Screengrabs are a bit pointless in my opinion, but this is still something:

Haven't been able to watch Juventus yet, has it really been that bad?

It's Allegri so did you really expect anything else.

Haven't seen the game, but yeah last season it was. Allegri basically went too extreme in terms of structural fluidity, and the results were often, well, those  He did rein it in as the season progressed, tbf to him

Also,

Oh, yeah, that's standard. Juve are wasting years on Reptar tactics man.

They only got away with this last year because of Arthur. As you can see, when the deepest central player has the ball there's virtually no options. With Arthur, he can at least keep the ball despite the lack of options when pressed, and can carry it forwards.

When you have lesser players in Locatelli and Rabiot, it's suicide.

Juventus has always been this more times than not, even with Lippi, Conte and prime Allegri… only, they had the likes of Camoranesi, Pirlo and Higuain scoring last minute goals to slot daggers into the morale of the oppos, while the recent instalments had Rabiot, Morata, Kean and even fecking Kostic yesterday missing late open goals and killing any hope.

Juventus don't have the depth to win the league this season. Unless they're going on a signing spree in next 8 days?

Yet, they played Salernitana and Cremonese - genuine Serie B teams. Failed to impress in both.
Don't understand where all this title challenge talk is coming from. I'd be very surprised if they take 4th as they'll have to fight Napoli for it.

A couple of new entries (Depay or Milik upfront + a distributor a la Paredes in the middle) would surely add a bit more quality but the real problem is the number of muscle injuries hitting our best players, possibly also due to antiquate textbooks or methods followed by Allegri’s staff. Contemporary experts hint at less training camps made of gym and force, more short and frequent bursts mutuated by the track and field.

Top 5 teams are closer than ever this year imho, and the season will be strange due to the wc calendar.
Many things can happen.

Wijnaldum breaking his leg and Zaniolo dislocating a shoulder are big blows for Roma already anyway

Did you watch the games? They played in a nice fluid attacking way and created various chances. Both games should have been at the very least 3-0 wins for Roma.

Dybala, Zaniolo, and Tammy missed absolute sitters both games.

Roma have looked impressive and done good business this summer.

This looks like those cheat tactics from old FM versions

Feel for Cremonese. Lost twice to one goal away to Fiorentina and Roma. Deserve some points. Thought they played well in both games.

Ascacibar is a very interesting signing for them in midfield. Wasn't so long ago he was very highly rated in Bundesliga and people were calling for him to play for Argentina.

He is not bad, but is a bit limited on the ball. Neat passing, but nothing special. A fighter and DM, but he is a specialist and does not offer too much else. Would be a bit too limited for a top club i feel. Lisandro Martinez is similar in the aggression and size, but i feel is better with his passing actually, and that as a CB.

However, he was a bit unlucky to play for two clubs in Germany that are quite badly run in Stuttgart and Hertha.

Juve's passing network was straight out of a feverish nightmare.

What is going on with allegri, he was always a coward but this is just sad.

Both were extremely convincing 1-0 wins. xG had them near 3 goals on both games while being rock solid defensively. Definitely an exciting team to watch this season in spite of Mourinho, have always had a soft spot for them.

wasn’t that Oles old setup with Pogba in the middle?

good luck back at Juve, Paul

Like I’ve said many times in a lot of places including this place. Juve’s midfield in this season without Pogba isn’t great enough to compete in big competitions especially in UCL.

All our limits are very evident tonight =(

side note, what an awful pitch at the Olimpico

On this evidence there’s no chance Inter want Lukaku back next season ffs.
