Is there an "Igalho" we can sign? (no we're not signing Igalho and your opinion on him is irrelevant)

What I mean is, a temporary striker on loan who could do a job for 6 months and would offer more than Ronaldo.

Which players out there would suit ETH's style and not break the bank?

This lad Edinson Cavani is doing well at Valencia, just got 2 against Elche before being subbed off with an injury. Standard.

There's really no European teams that would be happy giving away a striker worth having in the middle of the season. That's usually the difference between relegation and survival for them. So you'll have to look at players in Asia, South America or the US. Maybe if they can find someone like Alvarez, it might be worth a punt.

We need a Cavani.

Ighalo was a pointless signing who costs a lot of money for what we got in return.

Did 'Igalho' do anything other than score that great goal in the Europa?

Quoting this post from the striker thread in the Transfer Forum. Maybe we'll get our #Depayback?
Seeing as we’re already exceeded our budget for this year, we’ll probably need to look for cheap options in january i.e players on expiring contracts.

-Firmino
-Depay
-Belotti (club option to extend)
-Dembele
-Brereton Diaz
-Thuram

Not a great set of options but Marcus Thuram seems a possible candidate to me.
He’s a big and powerful but also skillful forward who’s transitioned from playing as an inverted forward into a CF.
Seems to be having a promising season so far having managed 13 g/a in 11 games.

The thing is we are unlikely to spend big in Jan so if we can find an out of favour striker who's be willing to come on loan it might be a band-aid solution.

I'm not talking about a 15 goals for half a season striker but one who could fit the system better than Ronnie and offer cover for the largely absent Martial.

We got 2 junior strikers try them. Greenwood was given a chance and so was Rashford.

The funny thing is that there are probably teams looking at Ronaldo and thinking he fits that same bill for them. Its also a bit hard to forecast what is likely to happen in January because no one knows how fatigued/injured different players might return from the world cup in Qatar.

We see chelsea and city often make these signings. What I mean is lower PL striker signings. Maybe we should do the same and get in Toney or Mitro for a decent fee (£50m).

Ighalo was wank for you lot, wasn't he?

Irrelevant. Whenever he came on you could sing Figaro but switch out "Figaro" with "Ighalo". Some things are more important than football.

For loan deal for few months I would be looking at Chicharito Javier Hernandez. I think his movement is still very good and still scoring goals at moment. I know its MLS but looks in good shape at moment and is a poacher around the box. Good finisher as well.

Isn't his hold up play poor?

Also we aren't creating that many poacher chances.

Moussa Dembele from Lyon.
Marcus Thuram from Gladbach.
Ivan Toney

But Ronaldo should leave if we sign a striker

Absolute nonsense.

When have these clubs ever made those types of signings?

Also in what world are we getting a PL proven striker, in January, for 50m?

Troy Deeney

Wouldnt be a great hold up CF but can play of the shoulder and run in behind with his movement. Seems to have alot of energy still from his performances with LA galaxy this season. Finishing has been very good for them.

At moment Ronaldo isn't doing that and is dropping deep to try get involved so not good enough in the final 3rd. Better movement upfront is what's missing at moment from us.

Was Igalho even that bad considering how little he played?

His goal to minutes ratio was 1 every 149 which is not terrible. He played very little and I doubt Ole had much of a plan beyond "fecking shoot"

What's more, United has Martial, Rashford and Greenwood in form at that time so Ole was reluctant to give him much game time.

He wasn’t bad at all. Was a great option at the time. It’s just when he came back the next season, he looked way past it. Clearly wasn’t fit and upto the level anymore. Most people are just remembering his last few outings rather than his impact when he arrived. We would have been screwed if we didn’t bring him in when we did.

Weren't Barcelona trying to get rid of Depay on the cheap? He would be a good option at CF IMO and he becomes the backup when we get someone proper.

Depay is pissed because of lack of gametime at Barca. He wont come sit on the bench at Utd. He thinks he's Ronaldo/Messi level

I don't think we should be thinking so short-term when right now there are 20+ 18-21 year-old CFs playing in South America, Asia, Eastern Europe/minor European Leagues who would all cost less than £30m and who will all ultimately end-up being top CFs.

What puzzles me is why, with all our resources and global reach, we need seem able to find them.

For this season at least, he would definitely start. I would have him over modern day Ronaldo, and while I would play Martial over him Martial can't seem to stay fit.

Pre covid break he was very good and did exactly what we needed him to do - be an option and score goals.

He barely got much of a look in after covid.

Only near the end. But before that he was actually very useful and a big contributor to us getting top 4 along with Bruno.

No, he wasn't. He did nothing in the league, no goals or assists and was only getting garbage time at the end of games.

He was only useful in a couple of games in the EL and the FA Cup and had an ok cameo against City before the PL stopped which made people overrate his abilities and level.

Dear god no. This was a horrible idea few years ago, even worse now.
