Is there a way to get more out of Antony?

What's the great day? First assist, first goal, first time beat a defender 1-on-1!

To answer the thread question, yes.
Play against a shocking team 3 tiers below.

If he could consistently arrive in the box and finish those chaotic chances he’d be an asset. It’s the whole drifting across the box looking the shot over and over is the same thing as Rashford running into a crowd and throwing his hands up when he gets cleaned. It’s brainless. Lovely finish on his weak foot though, he’d no time to think about it which probably works in his favour. As the commentator said if he’d go outside like someone like Duff and stand up one or two at the back post with his right it would make his marker think so much more. There actually is something there to work with but it really doesn’t feel like the penny is dropping fast enough at all. Next season you feel will be his last unless a miracle occurs.

Wondering whether he persists with cutting onto his left because he's genuinely unable to not do that, or because he's being told to do it because that's where he's most dangerous. Also not sure which of those options depresses me more.

It is embarrassing how one dimensional his game is. Almost as embarrassing as how bad he is at that one trick.

The greatest?

I haven’t been to any away games this season but I assume he’s hearing some version of that at every ground he plays in?

He went from being unknown to being figured out / second season syndrome and having all this hanging over him. Not easy to be fair. I think there has to be levels more to this lad even if he was never worth what we paid for him

The assist he created yesterday was from his left foot on the left. I want to see him on the left rather than on the right. He’s too predictable on the right.

Talking about kick starting the season in February and building on a performance against a crap 4th tier team.

Man was seemingly falsely accused of sexual assault by multiple parties, had his name dragged through the mud and lost his spot in the national team and at United. He has a good game in the cup but somehow it's another stick to beat him with.

Antony is a good player. He just needs to work on his passing, shooting, heading, crossing, ball control, ability to affect games, ability to score goals, dribbling, defending...............................................................................................................etc.

Let's forget about his pace, physicality, taking on defenders or right foot. If he can cut in and score worldies, I will let him stay. I think defenders know he will eventually cut in but they don't know when. I think he will get 1-2 chances in a match to get free of the left back, if he is clinical then I think he still has a future with United.

Totally agree. Was a very good ball for Bruno. Instinctive, first time. When he is on the right, he ponders and takes too long to make a decision.

Play him out there for a couple of games. See what happens. Garnacho looks as good on the right and may actually start passing to Hojland from the right.

Found his level against the team in the bottom half of League 2.

And people thought it was exaggeration when some called him a Championship level player.

Forget the price tags. One of the worst players I've ever seen at the this club. He might genuinely be the worst.

Even his cameo on the left didn’t look good at all. I don’t have hope in this guy.

Maybe if we melt him down for glue we could fix the leaky roof at OT.

The answer certainly isn't to play him on the left, because having to go on the outside serves to highlight his lack of pace even more so than on the right

Lie to him the time of kickoff is changed for every game and make him miss every match. His contribution to team will become positive

He should stick to the right. BUT be instructed to go down the line as well at least one third of the time. Hopefully the Saudis will buy him.

I saw someone suggest in the matchday thread that him and Dalot should swap positions, and honestly it’s not the worst idea in the world. Antony could offer more aggression and energy as fullback while Dalot clearly offers more attacking threat. Tbh though I’d rather be rid of both of them.
Fullbacks need to pass and assist even more than wingers do, Antony would be a pretty horrible fullback in attack and obviously he has no experience in defense

If we are to experiment, maybe move him to the left side. Having left footed Antony on the right clearly makes him incapable of crossing, maybe he will do better on the left

Even if he had cost £86 quid instead of £86 milion, he would still be in the top 10 of worst signings ever.

You have to also factor in we pay him to play football. He gets paid vast amounts to play football. It's a fuxking parallel universe we are living in.

Maybe this is some very clever Brazilian reality show and he's just some actor who's been planted. He's not a footballer that's for fooking sure

He's no Robben. He always cut in, but was so good you struggled to stop him. Anyway.
