Way to move the goalposts. You said Raheem could score 50 in a Pep team. Why are you bringing England into this, that's not relevant to your point. These are the relevant stats. In his last 2 and a quarter seasons under Pep, Raheem has 61 in 111. Kun has 72 goals in 95 games in the same period.
Are you honestly telling this board that Raheem Sterling would be only the the 4th player in the last 45 years to score 50 goals in one of Europes top 5 leagues (Leo, Cristiano plus Zlatan in the French league). You have to go back to Gerd Muller in the mid 70s. You rate Raheem Sterling that highly?

I'm not moving the goalposts, I've always been clear in this chat that he'd get 50 in all competitions. That includes competitions England play in.

As it happens I rate his ceiling that high, absolutely. 40 is easily within his grasp this season and he can only get better.

You didn't include England games when you made the initial proclamation, so yes, goalposts most. 40 for City is City is still far, but more attainable.

Hi again, mate. Sorry, I started to make this point last night when I was really busy with something else and kept trying to bat you off. In the end it meant I never fully explained myself - in fact I explained myself really poorly! - so apologies about that.

My proper explanation and point is that Sterling definitely has the potential to score 50 goals in all competitions for City if he's played as a #9 once Aguero leaves, and that he absolutely will score 50 in one season for City and England, even if he's only played as a #9 for City in the future. In two years Aguero's contract is going to end and he's either going to go back to Atleti or Independiente. At that point we'll have a decision to make and I think it's starting to become clear that Jesus will take over as the full-time #9, but Pep has tried Raheem there in the last 15-20 mins of games over the past two years and in another two years Raheem will be 26 and at his peak. If it comes to pass that Raheem gets the #9 shirt, I see a 30-goal season in him in the PL, meaning that he can easily make up the other twenty in the Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, and England games. He's somehow become a deadly poacher while playing as (and being coached to be) a winger and he's going to hit 35 goals in all competitions this season, so imagine what figures he might be capable of if he's played (and coached) as a complete striker.

Aguero is taking pens. If you count only the goals from open play, then Sterling might have scored more since the start of the 17/18 season which would be impressive.

It's virtually impossible to score 50 goals for a PL club without taking pens and free kicks. Has Ronaldo 7 ever scored 50 goals from open play? Probably not.

What could help Sterling is the incredible level of creativity in that City team and his ability to find himself on the end of dangerous passes and crosses. Still not enough for scoring 50.

In other words, if you count only goals/assists from open play, Sterling has probably outperformed Messi. However, it might be down to City being more creative than Barca. Also Sterling has most certainly played more games than Messi.

Yes you're smart normally, but thats was pretty stupid to think:)

Anybody whos paid attention to Raheem and Guardiola should have known he was the perfect player for Pep, even more so than Sane, has the skills plus intelligence.

Sterling isn’t the type to back down it seems!

sad they’ve let it spill over into international duty. You’d think the other Liverpool lads would keep Gomez in check a bit.

That's always been his problem. He's great at getting at the end of chances, but he's quite inefficient with them.

That's the Sterling we sold for £50m. Incredibly dangerous player but not the player you want one on one with the keeper in the last minute of a vital game where you need that goal.

Saying that, I won't blame him too much as he's been ridiculously over used. I noticed he was tiring weeks ago and got rid from my FF team.

I like when he plays against us. Seem to always play like crap and miss easy chances.
Also when I watch England I don't think he is that great a lot of the time.

I do think he is overrated. I personally rate Rashford much higher than him in terms of the talent he got.
Although playing under Pep helps him a lot more with all the creativity they got. He got great mobility though which helps
him get to chances.

On a good day Sterling will score 3-4 goals for them so he can be potent and good in front of goals at times.

I think Rashford is better. People can have different views about that.
It is hard to compare fully since Sterling play in a much more attacking and better teams.
Thus he will get more chances to score.
 
He is a United fan and his mind refuses to play well against us.

He's developed into a wc player and grown up to be a brilliant human being/role model. He's benefiting from pep but the lads professionalism is what has really kicked him on. He might be a bdo contender in the future but hell never be a no. 9 nor a 50 goal a season player.

A combined 50 goals and assists player, maybe once off but hell never score that regular.

I still stand by this when people were saying he'd get 40 goals.

Its not just a United thing, he's miles off the ball since November. He starts every season amazing and he is a top player but he always dips mid season, he'll get slightly better towards the end but won't score another 10. Its been the same 3 seasons in a row. I'd like to see a breakdown of his contribution by month under Pep.

The vast majority of his goals are easily scored coming from inside the 5 - 10 yard range. This is understandable as most of City's goals come from cutbacks. He's by no means a good finisher though.

He struggles massively when he has time to weigh up his options. The chance on Weds was a case in point. It was the wrong choice to try & beat the defenders. He did manage it though. All that was left was to keep his shot down & it would have likely been a goal. Instead he ballooned it over the bar. When he has time, whether he takes the right or wrong option he rarely scores.

I agree in general, obviously, but then again he is 'out form a bit' for a few months now. Which in my view shouldn't happen to players at the very top. Where he literally belonged for few seasons now.
